This was my favourite tv show when I was younger, this episode was the first time I ever cried at a characters death. Marian was my image of girl power and her death was noble and it broke my heart. Since watching this episode first time round I have never watched it since until today, it still doesn't fail to make me cry.
I'm not usually moved by deaths, but Robin and Marian wedding on Marian's deathbed was just too sweet for me to hold back the tears.
Goosebumps and "Laughing on the wrong side of the face"..are my feelings the moment Will Shows his Robin hood Locket when robin is leaving..
I just love robin hood's honesty and leadership..
crying crying crying crying. why Robin hood will never be the same. I know its ment to be all about Robin but Marian plays such a HUGE part in his life that...tears.... he will never be the same, it not fair!

I cried. Mainly because of Robin... it's all just so not fair. And so beautifully acted (all save for Marian's... very odd way of dying, of course.)

there are only two major constants in the story of robin hood. Robins supernatural gift with a bow and arrow and his relationship with Marion. There is no Robin Hood without Marion

love they way the sherrif kills, carter and hits the king. He's usually so usless
omg this is sooo sad!! i can't believe! Marian was great, I am speecheless.. It was unexpected.. She was amazing. :(((

Marian dying is the best thing that happened to the show. I liked Djak, Will, and Marian too but everything that happens with Guy and Robin after her death and Will and Djak staying behind was brilliant

Can we not take pity on the tragedy of a broken soul? I have nothing positive to say about Guy in this regard, because you are right. The cruelty and desolation he's endured have left him fractured and tormented. His decent has led him to the point of being the very source of his own pain, and while that doesn't excuse him, we can still take pity upon him. To pity even our enemies, or those we would condemn, that in fact, is what sets us apart from people like him, those who have lost themselves

Marian knew that Guy loved her and that if she stood between him and the king, then it would stop Guy for a little bit and focus on her.
How is it that the good guy always come in just a second after everything happens?!

+Kaagh178 No, it's not that at all, I was just surprised at how violent it was. Despite the amount of fighting taking place in the show, this was still more than what they'd shown before (even if it was kind of off screen)

When this was on the TV I was like ten and I cried so hard when Marian died that I waited in the toilet for about fifteen minutes crying my guts up. IT'S SO DAMN SAD.

heh, yeah, I must agree with you on this one. ^^; There's always a creative way around killing a character if the actor leaves, which keeps the door open to many more possibilities in the future.
Also... sometimes we don't want evil characters dead either. ;3 After all, any heroic or epic story is only as good as its villain.

Perhaps a victim of his own shortcomings and anger management issues. xD You're exactly right, and that was basically my point. I wasn't implying that we shouldn't hold people accountable for their actions, but I also can still acknowledge that he too is suffering in his own right, and for that reason I take pity on him. It doesn't mean I'll support or defend him, or even that I don't hate him... but I'm not indifferent to him either.
I dunno, maybe I just watch too much Criminal Minds. lol =P

@freadergirl She did it to save the king. She knew Guy would be overwhelmed with jealousy by what she said and kill her thus saving the king and that he would be shocked at what he did which would give time for the others to arrive and make sure Guy couldn't get another shot at the king... she knew that alone in that moment giving her own life to save the king was the only thing she could do and knew just how to do it. It was a brilliant and selfless sacrifice to save England.
@stephaleeespinoza Nope... she was out of time since she'd backed up as far as she could go without tripping over the king, and it was obvious Guy was determined. She did the only thing that could have been done at that moment to save the king.
Why did they kill Marian!? What shall Robin do without her? :-( I will miss her and the scenes between Robin and her :(
My issue is with people acting like Guy is the victim in this situation. Or even *a* victim. He is not. He is the aggressor. I understand that he suffered a lot and it led him to become what he did. But what I think a lot of people fail to understand is that all the suffering in the world does not excuse evildoing. As long as he is of sound mind and in control of his own actions, he is accountable for the things he does. Pity him all you like, but understand that he's still the one at fault.
Hey guess what guys? This is called a T.V PROGRAMME. It is completely fictional which means the plots and storylines aren't real so there's no reason making such a fuss about Marian dieing, its actually a better season 3 without her.
Anyway, we should be weeping over the loss of Will and Djaq. :'(

i don't blame guy, he truly loved marian and she continuously lied to him and betrayed him. and you can see how upset he was when he killed her. hated marian. love guy.
At last Marian wore a decent dress and finally got what she deserved. What was she thinking,telling Guy who had a sword in his hand, that she wouldn/t marry him as she is in love with Robin Hood. Poor Carter actually I think Carter would have made a better Robin Hood. As for Will the best one in the "gang" staying behind inthe Desert with Jack....

and i cried for so long when i saw this. then i was depressed for a couple days because i couldn't imagine how robin could even go on after marians death. i know i couldn't!!!
Awww. I never liked Marian at ALL, but I'm sad that she died. I didn't want her to die!
And even though I shouldn't, I can't help but feel sorry for Guy. You can tell by the look on his face that he didn't want to KILL her. He loved her, in his own, twisted, messed-up way.

Shouldn't Robin have asked Will and Djaq to make sure no one tries to kill the king while he's still there? Because they have a habit of doing that.

Think that the very first time I watched this it felt like Guy was stabbing me too, such was the feeling in my stomach when he killed Marian :(
@cksgirlforever Yes it would. Blood would gush, and she was already fading. In case you ever get stabbed keep that in mind - DON'T take out the blade until you're in the hospital.
She knew if she did not do something (like BREAKING GUY'S HEART) he would have kill the King ! she had to sacrifice herself....Again

People whine about Guy being evil for killing Marian, but running in front of an armed man and taunting him by saying you want to marry his sworn enemy was not a clever thing to do! It was hardly surprising that he stabbed her after that.
How could they let her die like that I cried and am never watching this show cause all. Of the good characters r gone

This is so sad! I loved Marian and i loved the little Robin and Marian scenes. I think Lucy Griffiths did a really good job in this part! I think she was amazing and she'll be always Marian!!!! But yeah..that's my opinion :D

Oh yes, and by the way, while what Marian did was extremely heroic, it was also partly stupid. I get the saving the king part, but mocking and laughing in the face of a man who has anger-management-issues and IS WAVING A SWORD AROUND was not a fabulous idea. She should have tried to a)distract him by talking to him or SOMETHING until the gang showed up, b) screamed for help and c)tried to reason with him? I'm not saying it would have worked, but it may have resulted in her NOT dying.
why on EARTH does she tell him?! she should have lied and passed off her protection of the king as being her struggle between love and loyalty. then, once robin and his men got there to help her, its goodbye gisbourne and they're all alive!

That was...an unexpected turn. I knew djaq left the gang(didn't know how though) cause of how many episodes the actress played in...but marian and will!? That sucks. I can understand will, but why marian!? That sucks...robin or one of them shoulda killed guy. And p.s. Guy has no right to tears. Cold hearted bastard. -.- I don't care how angry you get, that's no excuse.
everybody loses :( Robin loses Marian. Guy loses the woman he loved for ages. Marian lost her life. the king got shot in the back. The sheriff didn't kill robin or the king. :(
