    Hi there, Nessa and Sophie! We're back and subscribed. Unfortunately, we lost track of your Channel, but we're happy to have found you again. We were searching for a dog-related question on Google and saw your page. Thank you for all the valuable information you provide to new dog parents like us. We've cared for our Little Aggie since July and have learned a lot. We saw that you cut her tear stains yourself, which is impressive! Sophie also looks adorable.
    Best regards,
    The Red Cardinal Kitchen team -
    Sonja, Christopher, and Little Aggie.

    Cute dog. I would put a patch or cover over the eye . The point on scissors can get in the eye if a loud noise happens. Get to be extra safe.

    That is really good idea, Nessa. My German Shepherd dog is also have tear stains. Sometimes they are dry or wet. So I did is I took tissue paper , dip a little water and clean her. She did not give me any trouble of cleaning her tear stains.

      That's so good to hear and it's great that your dog was patient and had no troubles with you cleaning her tear stains.

    Besides the filtered water and clean bowls what else have you found that prevents tear stains? Cutting them out and wiping her face is a great way to remove them once they are there, but I would imagine there must be more to preventing them in the first place. If filtered water helps I would assume that mean there's a diet or bacterial intake issue. Have you found anything else that reduces or stops it in the first place?

    Hi Nessa! I’m picking up my Cavapoo on Tuesday! Very interested in this video. Glad to know tear stains are common, so thank you for these tips for handling. My breeder also suggested filtered water. Curious, have you learned why the Cavapoo’s have a tendency towards tearing? TropiClean has a blueberry Spa face wash for tear stains. Will likely be buying it and washing just her face regularly. Let me know if you’ve tried this strategy. Thank you for reminding us that all new things take patience!

      Congratulations, you must be so excited! 😊 You'll have to send me lots of updates! As for the face wash, I've never used one, I just usually use warm water if needed but I have heard of them. I think they develop these tear stains due to excessive tear production and I've noticed with Sophie some days she has more tears than others so I guess it just depends.

    Nessa, please consider acquiring blunt tip scissors for this task. Your pointy tip scissors as seen in the video are, IMHO, an invitation for trouble. I know you hold her face when you cut near Sophie's eyes, but even still. :-)

    My goodness! How long did it take her to get comfortable with you getting that close to her eyes? My 20 week old cavapoo always gets mouthy and/or tries to get away. I can do the rest of her grooming, just not her face!

    • @NessaandSophie
      @NessaandSophie  Před rokem +1

      Honestly, it takes a little while for them to get used to certain things. I remember it took Sophie a few months to get fully comfortable with me combing her paws (she was ok with me touching them but did not want me brushing them!). I used to train her by grooming her paws in small intervals and rewarding her with high value treats when she stayed still and didn't try to nibble on the brush. It takes a little while for them to get used to it but you got to be consistent and patient, you'll get there eventually! Good luck!

      My friends dog is the same way. No one can put anything near her face.

      Very informative video. I would never attempt to trim around my dog's eyes with sharp pointy scissors though. I'm afraid she will become startled and I would hurt her.
      Are there safer scissors you would recommend to those who are too nervous or too new to attempt this?

  • @JessicaUtley
    @JessicaUtley Před měsícem

    Don't you think you should aim the scissors the opposite way instead of right toward her eye?
