You can shine a bright light through the “black” ones and they are actually a very dark red acetate. From here you can see the metal arm rod clearly. A modern cell phone light works just fine.
Thank you for your informative video. It confirmed to me that that I have been conned. After watching this, I returned the one I bought on eBay and reported the seller today for selling fake goods. Soon as I saw the glasses, right away I had the suspicion that it's not genuine. It felt so cheap to the touch and the hinges were not smooth. It hasn't got that 7 prongs that you were talking about and the metal reinforcement inside. I hope more people can watch this video before buying.

I am now so afraid because (he knows my address), the seller said that he's hurt about the 'negative' feedback that I gave him, even after refunding me my money. He said he didn't know that it was fake, but there's a few exactly the same Ray-ban and Adidas shoes in his listing. He asked me to retract my negative feedback. :(
This was helpful, the only tell on my reps is that the screw in the 7 stack hinge has a flush top not domed. Was good to see that I don't need to get a gen pair again though!
Concerning though, I'm fully aware of what I have but I can only imagine how many pairs like these have been resold as gen...

Black glossy frame and green lens but it doesn’t read “wayfarer handmade in Italy.” It reads “ray ban customized in USA.” The other side reads “rb2140.” Why is this? Are they fake? My Ray-Ban that I just purchased says made in Italy on the left and the model number on right

I checked on google and all the ray bans have the model number on the left and made in logo on right. Mine is the opposite
I have purchased it from a reputed store and when I was making this purchase the girl told me 3 times that they only deal in genuine authentic ray ban frames

Ray Ban actually released a pair of Classic Wayfarers without the tilt. Model number is RB4340. So it may not necessarily be fake. Another good way to tell is just by the sheer weight. They all have glass lenses and the acetate is heavier than the cheap plastic fakes are made of.
Ya absolutely this video was to tell if the original wayfarers (RB 2140) are fake but yes you are 100% right about the RB4340 we have a sunglasses expert over here!

Well what do you do when you buy a pair of these fake ray bans Tortoise wayfarer and they’re identical down to the hinges down to the logo nothing you cannot tell the difference the case all the papers the lot. Apart from the price. My £136.00 vs £ 22.00 including post.

To find the metal rod going thru I a black pair , you can just fold the temple and look inside the tip of the temple.

Hi, thank you for the great and very informative video. However there's one thing that nobody mentions in these real/fake videos and that is the SMELL. I bought a pair of Ray-Bans from an authorized reseller and although the glasses looks real as I was taken out of the box I immediately felt a cheap plastic-ish smell coming from the 'leather' case. I know it's faux leather but it keeps me wondering if other brand new Ray-Ban cases have this funny smell or not? Thank you!

I have a pair that says “Made in Italy” only, not handmade, the rest seems to be the same to an original pair, also they are a different style, and bought them off of a sunglasses store that sells different brands, should I be worried about them being fake?

One thing always mentioned is the weight between genuine and fake glasses, but nobody mentions the actual weight in grams of the genuine glasses. That would be helpful! :-)
My understanding is that, as it's a handmade item, weight is not going to be all equal.

I legit just got a pair of Caravan straight from the Ray-Ban website and the box did not have a sticker on it. You mean to tell me I bought fake Ray-Bans from Ray-Ban?
It means that Ray-Ban messed up or you got a custom pair.
Custom pears don’t have a sticker on the box to the sticker coincides with all the frame and lens info tied to that specific part that you bought.
Every single pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses I have bought from their official website for the sunglass hut had a sticker on the box.

Somebody gave me a real pair of Ray-Ban’s for a gift. I always bought the fake ones from the poppy store in Philly $10 you put them right next to each other you can’t tell the difference you wear them you can’t tell the difference I would never spend $200 on sunglasses I would break them lose them when I can spend $10 and have a really nice pair and not have to worry about anything. There is no difference between the fakes and the reels.
the only thing I care is UV protection, and I test sunglasses with UV lamp. Couldn't care less if they're fake

The conglomerate known as Luxottica now owns the Ray Ban name. Just about every brand is owned by Luxottica. It's a racket and the quality has gone downhill since Luxottica bought them out. Mass produce them cheaply and then charge a ridiculous price.
