- ♡ Day in the life of a London university student 2018 || Mei-Ying Chow X King's college London Vlog ♡
The video where I show you normal day at uni - studying economics and management but with a slight twist!! My dog, dim sum comes to visit and we take her round Hyde park after a little gym session. It also wouldn't be a Mei-Ying chow vlog without a bit of room DIY and university room decor. You also get to meet a few of my friends and see me super stressed on the phone trying to work out what taylor polynomials are - all good fun!! Don't forget the good food consumed today and the casual study session at cafe nero with some friends.
If you have any questions about my university course E&M at KCL london or my uni accommodation do let me know in the comments and I’ll reply to them all.
I’m staying at an intercollegiate hall, which basically means all students from London universities can stay there, so that includes King’s College London, UCL, LSE, SOAS, Birkbek and RVC are all here. I really like it cause I’ve met more people outside the KCL uni group and it gives you lots to chat about when making friends etc.
Out of the intercollgiate halls, I’m staying at College Hall but my sister stayed 3 years at international halls so I know quite a lot about that one too. They’re all in perfect walking distance to campus and the facilities are super nice as you can see and being catered is a blessing when your day of lectures finishes at 6pm and you don’t have the energy to go shopping and then to cook it - as well as that there aren’t many lidls or Aldis around for cheap food shopping so it can be a bit pricey. I did a video last week where I gave you a tour around my uni accomodation - bathrooms and pantry and all that jazz. The link to that video - • london university room...

So nice to see how other King's students spend their days! This was a really lovely vlog, love the way you showed that you called a friend for help and that it took time to grasp that maths concept - most student vlogs seem to gloss over the studying part and just show that they're having fun, but this was very relatable! And Dim Sum wanting to be stroked was adorable!
Aw that's so cool you're a fellow kings student too and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Aha I feel like a lot of days are just primarily studying but this day I also happened to do some fun things and I completely agree. Dim sum says thanks 💜😘💙🐕
I love how positive your vlogs are and how it’s actually showing what you do rather than “I’m going to do this” and then not seeing it like a lot of vloggers. Really nice :)
Ah thank you so much Hannah! That comment means so much 😁 I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate the editing. I hope you have a lovely week ahead ♥
ah i graduated from king’s this summer! hope you’re having an amazing time there, loved the vlog (dim sum is adorable) 😊
Ah no way! So did my sister! The king's graduation was so fancy! I'm certainly enjoying kings more than I expected and I'm so glad you loved the vlog 💜 dim sum says hey 🐕
Mei-Ying Chow ah wow! & glad to hear you’re enjoying it 💜
Loved the vlog! And you should totally do a gym routine! And more day in life videos! Haven't seen dimsum in a while it was a lovely suprise! Have a lovely day💕💕
Thank you so much Mridhula
Aww thank you! You are a lovely person too! And that was an Amazing plan! Im looking forward to those videos You should do start to do Christmas related videos 🎄
oooh yes only 59 days to go... the countdown begins! All the shops around me have started their christmas displays and the excitement is building
Yes!! I'm so happy lol. I wish stores here would start doing that right now but I have to wait till after Halloween..
love all of your uni videos! I have watched them so many times lol I currently have them on replay as background noise while I do homework. Espen is cute!
OMG I just graduated from King's this summer and it's so nice to see a fellow King's student's vlog :))) And shout out to the guy studying IR, I did IR as well! Wish I could have done some vlogs to keep my memories of King's, I definitely had a great time there. Keep on vlogging and enjoy your life in London!
Love the editing and I’m in love with your vlogs I was missing Home and I’m happy I came across your channel made me feel a lot better !
Aw that's so lovely!! I'm so glad I make you feel a little happier with my videos. I hope you have a brilliant day and best of luck 😘💜
Mei-Ying Chow thanks a lot I’m based in Kazakhstan so the entire day is pretty much over !
@@AliG-vg6hs ah no way! Big hugs to Kazakhstan!! 💌
Mei-Ying Chow thank you !
hello Mei-Ying! I am so happy to see you again in your vlogs! I loooved this one! it is so interesting for me because I am thinking about studying abroad in Britian especially in London but I am not sure if my English is good enough to do so! I dont speak any other language (exept my mothertoung German of course ^^) i hope you have a wonderful time at Uni and I would love to see more of your daily Uni-life! have a lovely eve! :) ps: a video about your fave spots in London would be great!
Aw no way!! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video so much and yea I love the idea of the fav spots of London - I still have a lot more to explore but I could definitely collate a few of my favourites! Also you English is impeccable! I always thought you were brought up speaking English and German 😱 you'd definitely love England and your English wouldn't be an issue I promise 💜 I'm definitely enjoying university a lot more than I thought I would - I had very low expectations ahaha but will keep you updated. I hope you have a wonderful evening too and a fab rest of your week 😘
I graduated from KCL. If it's of any help, there is a very big German presence at KCL. In fact, by my estimate when I did my postgrad there in 2016, it was the second biggest nationality after Britain (home students) so you wouldn't be alone. In jedem fall Ihr Englisch ist sehr gut. Sie werden dies verstehen!

thank you very much! :D that's good to know
Just subscribed and cant wait for mor uni vlogs!
I'm hoping to get into either Kings or Royal Holloway next year and study Law 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! Welcome abroad 💜 my sister studied law at kings and graduated this summer so if you have any questions feel free to ask! I know a few people at royal Holloway and it seems like a lovely place - beautiful buildings and campus 😊 good luck!!!
@@meiyingchow Wow, thanks for your lovely response! I'm super excited - for uni, and your future content 😁☺
@@pouriaabadsafian Do you mean this year, like in 2019? Because I was thinking the same!!! studying law at Kings :D
i'm going to be studying Liberal Arts at King's next fall!!! this video makes me so excited to go to london 💖 after watching your video i'm seriously considering staying at an intercollegiate hall!!
Ahh no way!! Well done on your offer and kings is so lovely! I would 100% recommend putting college hall down or at least one of the intercollegiate halls as I've found it so much nicer to know a broader spectrum of people from different unis. The student catered environment is also quite welcoming and a little bit more like school maybe?
another youtuber from kcl! glad to see I'm not alone hahaha
Ahh no way!! That's awesome got a little kcl corner on CZcams aha 😘💜
Love your style and personality! Where did you get your ring?? Looking forward to more uni videos from you xx
Thank you so much and my rings came from both my grandma's! They're ooooold haha xxx
really hope you do more uni vlogs! I'm considering kcl :)
Yes I'm hoping to film a proper day in the life at kings in the business department. It's lovely hereof definitely recommend 😁
I recently got a place at KCL for 2020 and this vlog made me SO excited to be a student in London! :)
Katie-Ann Miles hi I’m planning to go to kings , is it good for Indians ?????
And all the best 💓
love the footage! so entertaining
I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and found it entertaining! I hope you have a brilliant week ✨
CUTE DIM SUM!!!!🤩🤪🖤
Haha yes isn't she adorable!!! 🐕😍
thank you for an amazing video (also, the dog is so cute!!)
I would so interested to know more about your course and your experience studying so far, as I am in IB2 and also applying for E&M in King's :)
It's my pleasure and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video Angelina 💙 so far E&M has been really nice - maths is quite chill (apart from the Taylor polynomials which I didn't learn at school as I didn't do further maths) but everything else is quite a level and the Econ part is still quite A level stuff. Accounting is generally new to everyone but it's taught really well and the profs for the 4th compulsory module - organisational behaviour have to be some of the best. I would definitely recommend it if you're thinking about it! I hope you have a great week and best of luck with your exams - I know IB is next level hard but I'm sure you'll smash it 🙏
Mei-Ying Chow Thank you so much ❤️
Compared to my "uni" experience you had a very relaxed day....just one lecture?????......attending gym😜..... only swotting until 8:30pm.......getting ready for bed at 9:30pm.What happened to the 4 lectures a day compulsory attendance to gain the "effort" grade and 3 page synopsis we had to submit the next day to gain the "comprehension" grade?
Haha well when I have my busy days from 9-6 it is quite hard to film as I don’t really have much time to film clips while taking notes and I don’t want to film any teachers or students that don’t want to be apart of my videos etc so that’s why sometimes it’s easier to film my more “chill” days 😆
Loved this 😍💕
On my UCL summer school I stayed at intercollegiate halls - are you staying in the ones nearer to King’s or UCL? I was wondering cause the dining hall looks so similar to the one I stayed in aha
That's so cool! I am just round the corner from UCL- kings is a 20 minute walk whereas UCL students just roll out of bed at 8:50 for their 9ams!!! Jealous aha so it could well be the one you were at 💜
College Hall memories...
Are the meals included in the rent? Or you have to pay separately?
They’re included!
Hello! Have you heard anything about Connaught or Garden Halls? Thanks!
"wut r dey seying" LMAO
Literally me in every lecture too 😏😂😘
I FINALLY found someone that studies IR but he's not the vlogger hhahhhh. Loved your vlog though
Haha I'm sure Fletcher wouldn't mind doing a lil section in the vlogs sometime about IR! I was hoping to get a few of my friends from different London unis on different courses to talk about their experiences 😁
@@meiyingchow Thank you so much from replying! And that'd be really nice, I've been looking into studying at kings for a while now. Have a great vacation and pls do keep up with the great videos :)
I can relate to that language situation.
When I was younger I didn't want to learn pashto and now I can barely understand anything my gra ndparents say to md5
amazing
Thank you 😊
How does it happen that students from other universities are in your accommodation? Is that normal in England?
Yes In London that’s quite common as I was in an intercollegiate hall however elsewhere in the Uk it’ll just be people in your uni!
I feel like I'm the only one who is going to ask but like are dogs allowed? If yes, that would be awesome.
Yes college hall actually has their own resident dog! They understand that students often need a little distraction like that to help them relax and focus 🧡 🐶
@@meiyingchow That's nice but will it be like your dog and live with you or just like 1 day thing? Because your dog came to visit you right?
I'm from king's as well!!!!
Jono is cute
Hi , This is the first video I’ve watched, are you first year uni student? I’m in year 13 now and thinking of applying to Queen Mary’s , is that part of the intercollegiate accommodation? Sorry for so many questions I’m just so curious :D
Queen Mary's is part of the intercollegiate yes and I'm first year uni student!! Hope you're having a great weekend 💜
I just got a conditional offer from Kings! but I'm actually considering if I want to go there or not. How is the student life there in London?
Aisha Mueena Hey, I'm a French Kings student and although there are a variety of factors to consider, studying at King's is a truly amazing experience from my point of view! The teachers are so renowned, the atmosphere is great, there are so many opportunities, especially with regards to networking with future employers but not only, the staff is really kind and always there to help you! Everyone is very friendly and it's very diverse as well, meaning that you get to meet people from all around the world and I am not exaggerating! Anyway, good luck with your exams and see you maybe next year ? :)
Campus uni is very different to city uni so it depends on your personality type and what kind of social life you're looking for. The student feel is very strong at campus unis as all the students are in a very concentrated area so there are no "London working adults or families". It's just like a huge school spanning over a big area. I quite like being in London however because there's so much going on - comedy clubs, theatre shows and events and a good nightlife too. It is slightly more expensive in London but it just makes the student budget issues unite a lot of students so there's a silver lining. Wherever you go I feel like it's up to luck with who you're put with - accommodation and course friends and I've been very lucky that I've got good people this year. There are so many more students in London as there are so many universities but they're just spread out a bit more but the student life is still there. Nightlife wise at campus unis I feel like Freshers is slightly more intense and at city unis you can choose if you want to go hardcore or not. I went out 4 times in the first week which was the average/ slightly more than most people but again it's just depends with who you hang out with/ click with but there's a lot more personality types here I feel so you're bound to find people you have a lot in common with. Best of luck with your a levels and congratulations on your offer!!! That's amazing news 💜🌟💙
I love your videos! I also just wanted to ask how you edit your instagram story pictures? :)
Hey Caren!! Thank you so much and I'm so glad you like my videos and thank you for also following my Instagram! I use the app unfold 😁
Mei-Ying Chow thank you!!❤️
Are you allowed to take a pet in your room ? İf it is that’s fantastic !
Is there much night life at kings?;)
are you staying at GH? I stayed there last year and your room, the elevator, etc look so damn familiar
No I did put garden halls as one of my choices but didn't get it. I'm at college hall but I have quite a few friends at GH tho and in the town houses too 💜
@@meiyingchow oh I see, I guess all the Halls just look kinda similar in a way hahah
u guys always wrote a note in the morning to each other?
dont u guys have a whatsapp or something like that....?:")
Haha yes and Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and all that but writing secret notes is more fun
Is your mum English and your dad hong kong
Sure is! My dad was born in London but his parents are both from Hong Kong yes 😊
@@meiyingchow I could tell by the way you look :D peng!!!!
Aha no way that's so cool! 👲
Hi! What are you studying, is it just maths!? Have an amazing time at uni❤️
Hey there! I study economics and management but one of my modules at the moment is maths and then next term it's stats. Thank you so much 💜
I'm also from Hong Kong!
Eyy welcome abroad to the Hong Kong community haha 😘💙
Are you mixed?
I sure am! Half Chinese and half English 😊
Imagine being half black and half Chinese you would be an athlete and clever. No one can mess with you.
Hi sis.
Hahaha I’m 16 and half Chinese and still can’t speak it 😂
Eyyy a fellow half Chinese 👲👲 I know a few words - mainly rude words and simple things like "let's eat"... I have my priorities ahah 😂

Dim sum is the cutest! So great you have your family so close! Your uni looks so cool. Thanx for sharing lovely! =^.^=
Yes they're only an hour train ride away so I get to see them every few weeks or so which is perfect and I see my dad once a week for a meal as he works in London every day! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you had a lovely weekend 💜🌟
