- A nostalgic visit to Jerry Mahoney's Club House on Christmas Day, 1954. Expert ventriloquist Paul Winchell, Jerry Mahoney, and Knucklehead Smiff will entertain you Christmas morning. Songs, skits, and prizes for the kids. Fast paced fun! The NBC Saturday morning program was sponsored by Tootsie Roll. Freddie the Tootsie Roll man will convince you that you can't live without a Tootsie Roll. Mary Ellen Terry adds some feminine charm to the show. Enjoy the theme song written by Winchell and his longtime bandleader and on-air sidekick, Milton Delugg. The theme song is titled "Hooray Hoorah" which includes the secret password "Scotty Wotty Doo Doo". A real piece of television history. Airdate 12-25-54. From a 16mm kinescope film.

That's a very integrated audience for the very segregated 1950s.
I noticed that right away!
Good catch!!!😊
I noticed that the first minute. I’m not sure who planned that, but hats off to Paul and his television producer.
I wonder where this was taped or filmed??.. my guess is it wasn't down south!
I'm very happy to see a diverse group of kids in this era... good job, production assistants!
And remember kids, the 3 main food groups, Milk, Meat and Tootsie rolls!
When life was good. 🥳 Thank you.
You got that right!
I watched this as a kid . Fond memories
Yes it was wonderful to see a intergrated Children's show on TV circa 1954!!!
This show is so full of talent. Pure entertainment,(and a couple of plugs), without being force fed. Oh yeah, thank you!
Very few children's shows today, if any, can match the fun and excitement that this show had. This was (and is) 50s TV for kids at its best. Superb film and audio restoration.
Paul Winchell was the voice of many animated characters, including Tigger, Gargamel, and the original Dow Scrubbing Bubble. His daughter, April Winchel, became a voice artist too.
Milton DeLugg would later be the bandleader on "The Gong Show".
In the 1966-'67 season, he replaced Skitch Henderson as conductor of "The NBC Orchestra" on "THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON" (before Doc Severinsen took over permanently).
How could you forget Dick Dastardly!
Wow! What memories this brings back!
"The Toy Trumpet" was composed by Raymond Scott, whose quirky instrumental compositions were used in many cartoons. He was also an electrical engineer and inventor, who created numerous synthesizers, provided synthesized soundtracks for some of Jim Henson's works, and predicted that someday people would wear jewellery set with bright LEDs instead of jewels.
I remember a later version of the show, called, "Winchell-Mahoney Time." I remember the secret password being, "Scotty Wotty Doo Doo." The theme song was the same, however, there were characters added, where Winchell was the voice of these characters, namely, "Scats," the scarecrow, and "Mister Goody Good."
I always thought of the password as Scaddy Waddy Doo Doo (with an "ah" sound).
Very nice to see this kinescope. I have several 16mms from the series but not this one so it is an extra thrill.
What a great family show!
I think Freddy has been hitting too many of the Tootsie Rolls looking at his teeth.
It might have been the good ol' days but remember, these were the stepping stones to today...😢
love how its not segregated
As seen on Saturday mornings at 10:30am(et).
Who remembers a Paul Winchell Character named " Mr. Tortilla" he couldn't shoot straight so he would walk up and knock down the targets by striking them down with his pistol. lol or even "Mr. Wallaby" he used to hold contests for prizes but he cheated and always won the prizes back from Jerry and knucklehead . Ha-ha-ha I been looking for their character images to no avail. They were very funny characters with great skits.
THANKS, 20 MILL. UPLOADER!!!!!!!!!!
I had no idea that Paul was an inventor, such as the first artificial heart. Who knew.
DEI before it was crammed down our throats.
I wonder if Thomas ever became a ventriloquist?
Knucklehead Smiff!!!
Jerry Mahoney is singing as well
Before my time!
There are black kids and white kids sitting together in 1954.
Phenomenal.. break through!
No lo consigo en español:'(
Wow, tootsie roll had the honor to be called Americans favorite, man it’s fall from grace was an ugly one
I’ll give you $10 if you know who the sponsor of this show is (The advertising is extremely apparent).

I hate the way they kept interrupting the Tootsie Roll commercial and trying to inject bits of a show.
That IS funny!🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's Knucklehead Smiff, not Sniff.
error noted and corrected. Thanks!
