JACOB! This was freaking AWESOME!!! I've never seen characters be excited at seeing a park guest like Daffy (my second favorite after Bugs) and Sylvester being so excited to see you! THAT WAS SO GREAT!!!! Its wonderful that all of your hard work is developing you into someone they know and Universal already recognizes the value of your coverage of their parks. You deserve all the fun and rewards for everything you do.

In the 80’s I grew up as a kid with this park bordering our backyard. Sometimes when I was bored I would hop the fence in the backyard, walk through the parking lot, and see a show by the Chinese Acrobats at the theater. Then just walk back home.

"The Lobster" is an original ride from the park's opening in 1976 and was formerly located where the Joker free spin coaster is at. That area used to be themed as Yankee Harbor, hence the lobster theming for that ride. But when Batman the Ride opened in that same area, they renamed "The Lobster" to the "East River Crawler" and it remained that way all the way until the Joker opened and the ride was moved to the Hometown Square section. I thought it was neat that they gave its old name back.

I entered a contest to be in the first ride of the American Eagle, but I didn't win. I did make it on the eighth trip though. I had a season pass and I was there all the time. Both Marriott's Great America parks were nearly identical from 1976 through 1980...the first major change was in 1981 with only Gurnee getting the American Eagle. Both parks still share an identical original footprint from 1976...the buildings backstage are still all the same, in the exact same places, built from the same blueprints. Many buildings onstage are still the same, as are a few of the rides.
Sadly, Paramount destroyed much of the Santa Clara park and its charm...but it still has good bones.

This really takes me back, we went here when I was little and it's amazing to see just how much still remains just like how it was. The fact that both the Whizzer and the Eagle were closed is really a shame, those are hallmarks of Great America.

the Great America in California is my home park. im glad its still around. it was in danger of closing for a long time. the entrance to the park looks exactly the same with the giant pool/fountain which leads to the double decker carousel. before Marriott and Cedar Fair it was owned by Paramount iirc. had a smurfs and hanna barbara land.

Def on my list. Of all the Six Flags, Great America seems to have the most rounded collection of rollercoasters

I miss riding The Columbia in the Santa Clara park. I have ridden that one since the park opened as Marriott's. I even worked there as a teenager. It is a shame the park with be defunct in a few years as they are closing the park for good. I hope one day I can go to the one in Gurnee. The Gurnee park still has some of the original rides, i.e. The Whizzer, the Scenic Railway, Sky Whril, just to name a few. CGA has had so many operators that with each one, a classic ride gets removed. Between Kings, Paramount and Cedar Point, the park has lost some of it's charm. I'm so glad Gurnee has kept them operating and it brings back memories watching this video and makes me miss my old park.

That was a great story about when you rode by the Eagle coaster all the time! I loved your meeting with Daffy!

This was my home theme park, too! It was the highlight of every Summer growing up. Love the videos and look forward to watching them daily!

That's the only Six Flags I've ever known. I've been there a couple times maybe 3. At most 4. Okay between 2 and 5. I was a child. Haven't been there in years. Also went to Cedar Point in Ohio once
