    Awesome tutorial! I was wondering if there’s a website where you get free icons?

    Catherine... Very informative as always... My inkscape does not look exactly like yours. It seems you have a full page where mine is a have page. When you selected trace bit map a box popped up on yours... My box is always on the right so I never have a full page. I can't get it to look like yours... Any thoughts?
    One other thing.. Future video? Using you sun example... I want to cut it out like you had, but instead of deleting the middle part, is there a way to engrave it?
    I often cut out Firefighter Maltese Cross's like a puzzle, but would like to engrave the aces in the Maltese cross.
    Thanks... Keep the videos coming!

      Thanks Frank! I'm not exactly sure why you don't see a full screen with Inkscape but the only thing I would think of is to make sure the screen is maximized instead of minimized at the top right - other than that, I'm stumped! I'm sorry.
      And as far as making the middle part of the sun engraved, you can definitely do that. All you would need to do is do the "break apart" method under "Path" like I did in the video, then you can select whichever pieces you want to add a fill color to. Adding a fill color will prompt your Glowforge to read it as an engrave marking if that's what you select in the settings on the Glowforge app. You can add a fill color either at the bottom of Inkscape where there is a line of colors, or you can do this by going to "Object" - "Fill & Stroke" and add the fill color that way too. It can be any color. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    What computer do you recommend and software for making my programs for glowforge and my one infinity ?

    • @85thandPine
      @85thandPine  Před 2 lety

      I personally have HP Envy laptop and like it. It depends what your preferences are. Some people prefer Mac. If Inkscape isn’t something you’re interested in, Adobe Illustrator is supposed to be another good option.

    Hi! Thanks for the info. I had a question on the spiral shape. Not sure how to get it to engrave thicker on GF. I tried increasing the stroke but it does nothing. 🤷‍♀️😊

    • @85thandPine
      @85thandPine  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Lisa! Great question. I think I figured it out after playing around with it a bit (my husband who knows nothing about Inkscape actually figured it out while helping me, haha!) But anyway, after you create the spiral, go to "Path" then "Path Effects" towards the bottom of the list.
      Then go to "Add Path Effect" (it's a + sign on the box that should pop up on the right).
      Another box should pop up and scroll down to select "Power Stroke".
      Select “Sort Points” in the check mark box
      Interpolator type: Centripetal Catmull-Rom
      Smoothness: 0.29
      Start cap: round
      Join: rounded
      Miter limit: 4.0
      Width scale: 3.0
      End Cap: round
      (these variations are just what I played around with but you can adjust things if needed)
      Once you have these variations set, you can go to your spiral and select the nodes (little tiny boxes on the spiral) and drag them to thicken the spiral however you want.
      Hope this helps!!
      Catherine

    How do you add more fonts to Inkscape?

    • @85thandPine
      @85thandPine  Před 2 lety

      You can download and install fonts from different sites (I use 1001fonts.com a lot) and once you’ve done that, you just reopen inkscape and they should be there for you.
