That was very impressive. I recently bought one of these amps but am in Australia, so won’t be able to get it to you for the same treatment … sadly. Thank you for a very comprehensive record of what you were able to do.
The clean tones are gorgeous and worth it for that alone. Great series.
I have been listening to how this thing sounds for about nine months now and still love the way it sounds. Would you take a similar project on?
You did an amazing job on this amp totally transformed it
Sounds SO much better!!
This turned out pretty damned cool!
What an epic transformation!! I really like the way you worked within the limitations of the format to achieve an amazing sonic profile!!
Dumbly amps aren’t my thing, but she sure does sing now. The notes are jumping right off the fret board. Well done, Sir.
Cool sounds you get out of it👍🔥
I see a lot of possibilities for playing different styles.
Very nice amp suddenly.
Sounding fantastic man. What a transformation! I had an 83 version many years back. Sounded great clean and the reverb was also lovely, but the distortion/overdrive wasn’t great. Sounded like a substandard fuzz pedal. Also it had a tendency to fart out at higher volumes, in particular when the bass was cranked up.
Can’t wait to hear it with my 335!
You gotta post a follow vid!!
i have 2 of these, and no matter how i try, can't get that edgy, square-wave vibe out of the lead channel (creates very aggressive/harsh drive with pedals as well)...is there anyway to mitigate this without having so many things done to modify the circuit?...
Hearing the tones from this makes me wonder if you got an original ‘61-‘63 fender concert and boosted it with a Klon? I have never seen anyone boosting those old concerts. Great tones!
Well I have a restored '63 Concert here, but this '84 Concert II was a completely different circuit. And now it's very different. ;)
@@PsionicAudio I will have to watch it. I want to hear one with a Klon driving it. Seems like that would be magic. I never hear much praise for early 60s concert amps. But every time I hear one, it’s amazing!
Big Star tee shirt!
Like to hear that through some g12-65’s like Robben likes…
Did Paul Rivera mount his output tubes close together for a reason?
Outside of a heat threat, is there a tonal benefit?
No good reason to do it. Lots of reasons not to.
sweet. mine never sounded like that. i think if robben had gotten his to sound like that he wouldn't have sold it to me.
You never demo'd the bright/bite tone (ala Robben Ford) (?)
Wrong Speaker mayhaps?
cheers
The Dumble channel was set to always be bright ala Ford. No switch.
Is this going into a 4x10 box?
In the video? My shop cab, an open backed 2x12 with a Veteran 30 and an ET65 (mic on the ET65).
The owner will be using it in his 1x12 combo with a 1x12 extension cab, both soon with ET65s.
Just put a pedal in front of the drive channel instead of all that. The clean channel is great stock.
Yeah that's what Fenders are good for. The drive channels are not usually their strong suite.
