Did you know that;
To improve his upper body and especially shoulders he went swimming,
For coordination he played basketball for a long time
To improve his vision he did painting/drawing
To coordinate his seeing and hand he played piano for 2 years
Also he has been doing this sport since he was 5 years old.Also his mom&dad are archers
Wow, that's very interesting. I made it a goal during these Olympics to watch some more events besides Swimming and Gymnastics. I watched Mete Gazoz compete in the Men's Individual Archery event. By the time it got to the finals, I was cheering for him and overjoyed that he had won the Gold Medal.

He is very brilliant and consistent throughout the tournament.
He wasn’t even able to concentrate when he was a young boy. His family knew he could become a legend with a little bit of effort so he tried everything to get better. Drawing, playing piano, swimming… After all these years full of training for concentration, you deserved it Mete. Now, you are the best archer in the world.

Mete bu kadar başarılı olmasa onu kimse tanımayacaktı. Sporcularımızı çok daha önceden destek olmamız gerekiyor. Oralara gelebilmelerinin arkasında büyük bir emek var. Başarılı olabilecek bir çok sporcu sponsor bulamıyor ve destek olunmuyor. Sadece altın alınca alkışlamasını biliyoruz. Onun dışında yokuz maalesef. Çünkü reyting almıyorlar ve kimse izlemiyor.
Mete gibi sporcularımızı altın aldıklarına değil çok daha önceden destek olursak bu başarıda az da olsa bizim de bir payımız olabilir ve çok çok daha fazla sporcu başarılara imza atabilir.

Seyirci ve kitle toplayabiliyorlar. Tabi ekonomik şartların da bunda etkisi var. Ancak maalesef o bilinç ve sistem bizde yok. Bizden nüfus olarak çok daha az olan ülkeler daha fazla başarılı sporcu çıkartabiliyor.
Bir kere her ülkenin sistemi ve ekonomisi bir değilken bütün dünyada aynı demek mümkün değil. Bir çok yabancı sporcu daha fazla imkan var diye başka ülkeler adına yarışmalara giriyorlar. Sonradan Türkiyeye gelip Türkiye adına yarışan yabancı sporcular da var.

Archery is the traditional primary sport of Turks. Mete takes his name from “Mete Khan”, who was the second ruler and influential leader of the first Turkic empire, the Huns in Central Asia between BC 209- 174, and also has been associated with “Oguz Kagan”, the epic ancestor of the Turkic people.

I shoot at 25 yards max! barebow.. I can't imagine shooting as far as these guys and hitting 10s even with a sight and stabilizer. That's precision!!
Me too, but traditional archery has it's own beauty I think. Modern archery is much more of a sport.
