Some drunk guy screams “WHAT YOU WANT!!” After 12 years there’s an Evanescence song called “What You Want”
This is beyond amazing to see. Never knew this existed. Despite their lack of stage presence, and problems with the sound at the venue, Amy Lee's raw talent is so clear here.
I had a dog named mollie
Like a cairn terrier mix like in your pfp🥹
Miss our girls sweetpea & mollie 💔
why does stage presence matter? she's not a fuckin clown out there for your amusement dancing to entertain you. she is an artist. stage presence is worthless. I have seen so many "performers" who are all about putting on a show and have great "stage presence" but they suck, they aren't artist they aren't actually talented . you disgust me.
This is why you try to see obscure bands as much as possible.
I make friends with them on FB & CZcams. You never know who's going to make it big. I'm mentioned in the sleeve notes of a Darkness album, chatted with the VNV Nation singer about the parking at Goodwood Festival of Speed, and got invited to a party by one of Madonna's producers (I couldn't go, sadly)
Yep. I saw both Linkin Park and Imagine Dragons in small venues shortly before they blew up. Believe it or not Imagine Dragons put on an incredible show. Can’t stand their albums though.
I saw bring me the horizon for £5 in a bar next to my college. Was about 40 of us lol now i can't get a ticket after 1 min past going on sale.
Unfortunately music psychology has dictated that the majority of people won’t do that as they prefer familiarity and popularity
Unfortunately it's not as easy as it used to be to get noticed.
My friends band, Trash Monroe, has been going since 2003 and haven't been given the chance to get signed.
They're a really talented band, but it seems like no one is interested in bands that don't sound like bands that are already out there.
I cant believe she wrote these songs at 17! how incredible.
17 is the age she was at this live gig, she wrote those songs from ages 13-15. She wrote all of the songs on Fallen between the ages of 13 and 19. Some pre-Fallen songs she wrote when she was 13, like Imaginary and Solitude. Solitude is the first song she ever composed for Evanescence. She's been writing music since she was 10, before she started Ev. She's a classically trained pianist and a multi-instrumentalist.
Her, Ben, and David I think. I have listed to her stuff after Ben left, and Ben's stuff after leaving, and neither compare to what they created together. When they write together the results are so amazing.
They had no idea how much these tracks would change a life.
Listening to this is a way of breathing.
Young Any Lee from 25 years ago didn't knew how big, and important for many of us she was going to be. This is archaeology for the Evanescence history. Thanks for sharing this piece of art.
@@ThanatosSD too bad the quality of evanescense went to We are the fallen.
@@nessnake123 Too sad that We Are the Fallen didn't released anything since their debut album. An album I really like.
@@nessnake123 Calling WATF quality, a bootleg AI-like knockoff of Fallen and juvenile, pathetic attempt by a talentless hack and abus;er to get attention, is hilarious 😂 Meanwhile, Ev musically expanded and got even better over the years, in the recent decade have released their most critically praised albums, are a tight musically dynamic band with great musicians, and as an independent band have had success every era, even playing their biggest solo show EVER in 2023 at a stadium to 40,000 people.
@@carpediemearth that was due to how the split of the band went. Moody was a simp for Amy and people too. People in their minds think the frontwoman is the band.
@@nessnake123 😂 And there was no band back then, Ev was started by Amy and Ben as a duo project. AMY made Ev a band over a decade later, the same core band still working and playing together 17 years and going.
Imaginary is one of my favourite songs, cant believe she sings that here :D
Wow thank you for the video! I remember first time I saw "Bring me to life" video late night on MTV and immediately fell in love with the song. Oh how the album Fallen stayed in my CD player my senior year in 2003 when I was 17 and it went with me whenever I drove my brother's car. I remember still listening to the album on my iPod in 2008 when I was in the service and deployed to Camp Fallujah, Iraq. Life comes at you fast. I'll be 39 in a couple weeks.
This is a awesome video. She was such a talented teenager and is a insanely talented woman.
Seen Evanescence in 2003 and 2007 and I’m about to see them again in a month. Nice relic from the past!
This is a historical register, "give unto me" kills me, so beautiful song.
Crazy to think they did this when she was 17. One of my fav ev songs
@@faynedunnett9907 Crazy to think their songs that were written when they were 15 - 18 are better than 90% Evanescence wrotte in the past 10 years

I visited Vino's back in April, everything still looks the same and the pizzas are delicious.
Sad thing is the people who own it now didn't know Evanescence played there until I told them
and they probably didnt care haha. ive played at vinos. everyones fuckin played at vinos.
The pizza is crap. Nobody went for that, went for the music and friends. Nostalgia at its finest.
So awesome to hear them sing Lies! One of my favorites
What a time to be alive. Slipknot was coming out and many other nu metal bands already destroying everyone and here we see a beautiful young lady in evanescence carving out there path to success. I love ti
i miss Amy so much! Evanescence’s music got me through some really dark times when i was a child. I wish I would have seen them in concert!
Got to see Evanescence tour with a live orchestra last summer great one of a kind phenomenal experience if that ever did that again I highly recommend it
Well, you will still get the chance. I saw a recent vid after Amy sang she said how they can't wait to start touring again as soon as this virus mess it's over. Amy is as AMAZING as ever.
I was only 2 when this happened... I discovered evanescence only after The Open Door released. I was born in the wrong era :( 22 today and still listening to them!
Her voice is magic!
Thank you so much for uploading this!
I love to see the band's gigs from the very beginning. She's incredibly talented and always has been. What a voice! WOW. I just love her!
I really love Amy's 17 year old voice. So angelic :)
@@YFL.111 Not exact same, her voice is far better today as it's richer, darker and mature. Back then it was a little girl's voice.
Whoever recorded this understood talent
It's so funny to watch the whole concert and see how they went under many troubles, being totally unknown, to get where the band is right now. And Stephanie is so talented. She should be known worldwide as Evanescence is.
That's pretty much every band. most , unfortunately, dont make it. They had something that stood out, also it was the right time for it. Evenesence is a case of perfect timing.
@@Antifaith29 I'd argue they stood apart from every band they played with and had a sense of real success as soon as they got the proper exposure. Amy looks unbelievably confident here and I think the band collectively were aware there was a very real chance someone would sign them
I read somewhere that Stephanie is now a singing coach in a choir. And yes, she also has a beautiful voice like Amy! Both were already very talented and beautiful
Omg thank you for this video. I’m in love with the band since they started 🤘🏻😍 Amy’s voice always perfect
It's amazing to witness the growth of her voice from then til now...her breath support, her vibrato, her tone, her pitch have all improved immensely 😮 What a great video! Thank you for sharing! 🎵🎶🎵
Wow -- so glad I stumbled upon this -- simply beautiful to see and hear the band (?) perform at this stage in their career -- so glad that this was captured and shared here! Stayed up past my bed time to hear and listen. Always loved them, especially during the early days.
She needs to re-record Imaginary...this version gave me goosebumps 😱💕 And “Don’t Fear the Reaper!” OMG 💙
I NEVER would have known she did that cover ... I'm so excited I just found this ... I love Evanescence and Amy so much and I also love Dont Fear the Reaper so much this is amazing
Thank you so much for uploading this.
Thank you so very much for posting this. Be Blessed
Imaginary is one of my favorite songs from them. It's beautiful to hear it in it's infancy yet still so developed.
This is a must listen for those who want to know the origins of Amy Lee's singing.
Truly vintage video of Young Amy singing 1999, pre-breakout!
You can hear the raw talent.
To bad America didn't appreciate that type of music with female vocals in early 2000s. In Europe she would be a gothic queen together with Anneke van Giersbergen. You can see a huge difference between this and Fallen sound with this forced version of Bring Me To Life which had to be in nu metal style with rap cause that type of music was popular in USA back then. So annoying:/
a great voice even in the shadows , and the microphone does not do justice , goodness I can see this video of 1999 and 2004 then a few years later and that difference.
Also keep in mind that this video was recorded on a tape recorder, not a digital camera like most were just a few years later.
I searched for a backing vocal Stephanie Pierce on all social networks, but not one I found. Can anyone answer if she continued working with music?
She was truly gifted with an amazing voice
Just saw her live a few weeks ago. She still sounds the same if not better love you Amy thank you so much for inspiring all of us again and again. You are truly timeless.
I’m going to vinos tonight! I have watched this video and all the other vinos videos I could find every since I was 9 years old and I’m SOO EXCITED! I might die from excitement
This is awesome!! Thank you so much for uploading this video. It's a truly jem!!!!
holy shit this is so epic. I remember finding clips of Catherine, but here you have the whole performance! thank you!
Such a beautiful singer, dude. Voice, personality etc. You honestly hear it in her voice.
Caramba quem poderia imaginar que pouco tempo depois iriam se tornar uma das bandas mais conhecidas do planeta 😲
Thanks so much for giving us this awesome video!!!
Thanks for sharing this! I had the privilege of seeing them at Gillians in Louisville back in 2003, but seeing this show was such a treat, thank you!
So she's always had this amazing voice...
Amy needs to bring back Stephanie Pierce. Love how it's only the three that make the group sound authentic.
That whole thing goes so deep and transformed so much for so many in a wide way… i can not even find words for this.

Her youthful voice was so unique. It had this really light, angelic, innocent, vulnerable, soft sound to it, yet it was haunting and nostalgic. This was what made her stand out and won her fame. She kind of lost that with age however. Her voice darkened, it got more weight and depth to it and nowadays she sounds more powerful than soft. She still has beautiful, breathy, soft vocals whenever she wants to, but her voice has gotten so much stronger. I miss this youthful side to it. The last time we got to hear this voice was in the "Fallen" era. Of course she was still young then. It was only natural that she'd end up sounding more like a woman, but still, I can't help but miss that sound. It was what attracted me to Evanescence initially. That being said, she's improved so much vocally in regards to control and technique. She surely matured vocally. It's just that for me, there is nothing that will ever replace this youthful sound of her voice.
Yes, you're right before the Evanescence Album (2011) Amy had something very beautiful in her voice, the vulnerability.
But I think that she still has this, since her voice in the interviews is not so much different, however somehow she prefers to use her "opera" voice.
Her voice is the best it's ever been today plus with herbnaturally darkened timbre that's even more enigmatic and dynamic
Damn, i never thought i will hear a live version of " Lies ". I used to listen that in High School. Thank you for uploading this rare live performance.
Que vídeo incrível ! Que voz perfeita desde sempre !! Estou emocionada!
Evanescence fan here. very cool video. thanks for sharing!!!

Amazing recording! 🌟 hard to believe it was such a long time ago 🙈
This is a treasure! A rare one that can hurt your ears a little bit but still, so nice to see them when they were unknown and doing small gigs. And how different Amy looked back then. So happy to see them where they are now.
Thank you for uploading!
Incredible! I've never heard of this! She was and is and will be amazing!
I don't think people realize how long an hour long set is when bands are this small. Props.
With all due respect, I don't think you realize how common it is for small bands to play hour long sets, or longer. It's commonplace in small local band scenes. When my band was coming up, we played countless shows with local bands on the bill, and very often, there would be 3 small local bands in a row playing 50-60 minute sets. And this wasn't just where I came up. Small bands all around the United States, and world, would play hour long sets and something longer. It's where you cut your teeth and hone your live show as a musician. Now, if you're a small upcoming band who's taken on tour in support of a larger band, you may not get a full hour as an opener. But shows that are composed, solely of other local bands or bands your size, will almost always play at least an hour. It would be less common to play a shorter set on that type of show.
An hour is not even getting started for bands who care. Most people who love music recreation can piss an hour of covers they love.
@@INeverWanted2010 I'd say no, however we both know they have sneaked a few here or there.
Holy shit I never knew they did Lies live, this is awesome, thanks for sharing!
An amazing voice and talented band leaving an immortal legacy of inspirational music and lyrics.
Holy shit I feel so old right now...I was 19 when this happened...I'm 36 and still listening to her. o.O
Trace Keene-Latham I wish I was like that... I wasn’t even born! I feel like Evanescence is timeless, though...
It feels like watching a band from my HS or something lol... I'm 37 and was class of 2000. This is so nostalgic for me, even though I wasn't there... Totally my generation.

Sweet nostalgia. Thank you to whoever downloaded this.
To me, this was the best era of evanescence.
Quicksword Irene What do you mean? Evanescence was Ben and Amy, they just hired people to play instruments
Hey the Fallen album era was the best. But Origins album is good. I love "Even in death"
@123 Kidd eh, i find fallen super generic and simple. Origin, sound asleep and the open door were much more artistic. The open door had riffs in songs such as cloud nine, call me when you’re sober or sweet sacrifice that we’re dope.
@@gothcroxs I don't think that Fallen is generic. The atmosphere of the album is very good.
Sin duda Amy lee nació con ese gran talento 😍😍😍😍😍 no ha cambiado su maravillosa voz para nada 😍😍😍

I never heard Catherine until now, wow I like the song, I hope I can find the lyrics to it.
Amy's personality and voice are really close to how she is today... Not surprising but nice to see.. see this with a lot of bands but very few people remain to be that same nice person despite fame and fortune...
Ela ainda segurava no ouvido pra se ouvir cantando nessa época. Que foda, velho! rs
Always had a beautiful voice. I'm aw'ing at teen Amy here before she overcame her stage fright ❤
Ela nem imaginava que iria cantar as músicas que comandaria a minha vida.
god her voice and songs were perfection.. it s really sad cause there will be never ever a singer like her again..
This brings back SOOO many memories. The first time I went to Vino's was with my older brother to see Govt. Mule when I was 16. This was a great show, my first time seeing Evanescence. Saw them a few years later in Nashville with a girl I worked with at Best Buy, was an awesome show too. But this was a fond trip down memory lane.
Eu nem acredito que essa menina é a Amy nossa 😍 (brasileiro aqui).ela tá diferente até a voz.quem e brasileiro curte aí 👍

Solitude MUST be in an official album!!! Such a beautiful song
@@manuelalejandrocisternasca4220 Solitude is one of the early demos, Amy wrote it when she was about 13, those early demos aren't for an album.
IT JUST GOES TO SHOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A PRODUCER GETS AHOLD OF RAW TALENT. AMY IS GREAT THANK GOD SHE WAS DISCOVERED THIS IS A TRAIN WRECK BUT YOU CAN STILL HERE THE GREATNESS IN HER.
Thank you so much for sharing! This is a true treasure! And we even get to hear a new song which I absolutely love! Too bad we never get a studio version of it. It's a mix of the Missing Demo + Understanding + Where Will You Go. Sounds so haunting and mysterious. I will never understand why they didn't decide to release it. But they produced this song, because they use the instrumental as CD playback so it has to exist at least as an instrumental.
Would you be so kind and upload the audio from your recording as FLAC/WAV data? If we have the best quality that's possible we can remaster the sound and remove some audience noises.
Awesome and totally gifted with such a voice
kinda weird to know that this video was from 1999...
They had semi-high quality camcorders back then, though they were incredibly expensive and still nowhere near as good as what we have now.
I searched for a backing vocal Stephanie Pierce on all social networks, but not one I found. Can anyone answer if she continued working with music?
They would invite friends to help them with shows. So she probably didn't continue music.
Hello Anailton! I don't want to violate a lot of Mrs. Stephanie's privacy, but I am a student of her's. She has a career now as a vocal teacher at my high school. You probably can not find anything related to her because she married. She is a wonderful teacher, is very talented, and is the highlight of everyone's day.
