Drinking my own sweat, definitely the kind of thing I'd want to rush the build on 😅 can't wait to see the final result!
"Are you drinking your own pee?" is not something I thought I would've hear on this channel.
Strange, I had no trouble believing someone would say that in this channel
It's already been done with the predator mask
"Attach one of these filters, so we can drink straight from the bladder."
Pee is sweat. Just more concentrated.
Drinking pee can’t be good for you
Better the Dune method than the Bear Grylls method.
Whats the Bear Grylls method?
He drank his own pee
@@Piesolesy You don't wanna know the Bear Grylls method
Too late
Drinking his own pee was probably the least disgusting thing he has done.
So film theory says it’s possible and now Hacksmith says let’s make it!
Lol
The stars have aligned
The Mythbusters of the 2020s
For once science says that doing something that's in a movie/TV show is actually possible For actually have it in life and not just have extra stuff poking out.
It's based on a novel from 1965

yo hacksmith, i was the guy that was at your place last week, sorry for interrupting your shoot, I just wanted to get a pic with the thor hammer but thanks for taking a picture with me
wait you can just show up there?

@@kawhmi Oh thats cool

Please grade up the suit! It looks already pretty cool, but I think it has more potential
Unless I am missing something, isn't this only collecting from his respiration? The condenser is closed off from the rest of the suit, so if anything, his sweat would eventually pool at his feet.
This confused me also. I don’t know what the point of making him workout and sweat in the sauna was 🤔
I'm assuming rather than sponge or pool the sweat they want the sweat to evaporate but can't escape the suit, and eventually get condensed into the tank
exactly what I was thinking. How does it collect sweat? Is there a pump somewhere?
That's why it's put into the setup through a hole in the suit, so the cold side stays inside. As the persperation evaporates and cools the body, it condenses on the cold heat sink and becomes clean water.
The dune suits have two loops - one for drinking and one for cooling critical body areas to avoid overheating.
Love the cut to the suit into the dune background. Hilarious! 😂
Im job hunting right now, and your videos keep my engineer brain going. Thank you for all of the joy i get from watching you guys.
I love one-day builds ! The editors definitely stepped up their game with the jump-cut segments 😆

Stillsuit water - it's Dune-liciously warm!
you shoud upgrade the suit to be cooling aswell as part of the still suits design is to keep the user cool in the desert
Agreed
Cool. I imagine at some point the salt being removed from the sweat needs to be cleaned out of the filter.
Fremen stillsuits as described in the books didn’t have filters; they literally distilled water from sweat and urine (and poop in thigh pouches). The salt was collected out of the suit every day but I can’t remember what it was used for. Ventilation wasn’t discussed- I suspect the suit might get a bit stinky.
But yeah, you’re right. The Hacksmith suit filter would need cleaning or more likely replacing every so often.
i believe the salt would build up on your person. the evaporation and condensation should desalinate the water.
Could this actually be viable tech for working in the desert? Along with some way to circulate the air from the cool side of the TEC inside the suit and a few small solar panels sewn into the shoulders... 🤔
You'd probably die of heat exhaustion pretty quickly, the peltier cooler is tiny
There’s a Japanese security guard suit that is inflatable with a personal AC unit integrated.
It doesn´t have the cooling funcion like the stillsuits from Dune, so no. It would make working in the desert even harder. Deadly.
They shouldn´t have put him in the sauna. That was dangerous as hell.
@@Mouse_Metal Yep. No core-temperature monitoring means it's easy to flirt with hyperthermia.
You'd have to make alot of changes, but as a proof of concept, v1, it works. Efficiency is probably horrid just now. But this needs to be a series and I really think they could make a viable product for desert communities. Water is life after all.
Sweat helps you cool down in the heat. A still suit cannot let moisture out so it’s not allowing any cooling or dissipation of body heat. So how does the suit ensure you don’t overheat and die? If the suit in dune has some magical way to regulate body temp and cool you down, then you aren’t really sweating much. Seems like a better option is a respirator that catches moisture from breathing and a suit that keeps you from sweating.
im pretty sure that at least in concept of the book the water gets cycled like a heat exchanger. that would clear the "used" water and then as you sweat it would make a new protection.
oh and on top of that. in the dune universe water is more of an issue than anything else so I think some sort of cooling tech to make it not deadly probably exists.
@@theleoshowm3010iirc in the Film Theory video about the Stillsuit, they explain that for the innermost layer of the suit, it's a material that's porous enough to allow air to move through it 🤔 And I believe in some cases in the real world, we have these sort of mini-AC units where the tubes move throughout your plate carrier or clothes to mitigate some of the heat. Definitely a fun idea to combine all these into one suit!
It's explained in the new dune movie. They have a separate water cooling system that goes around their suit that uses liquid they don't want to drink.
@@plokoon7606Ahh right, I forgot about that! "Their water's too polluted, but it can still be used for cooling" something like that
Now make it waterproof so it’s like Subnautica!
My Finnish ass got so offended for calling that monstrosity a sauna
It is the bare minimum to be called a sauna. Honestly, you'd be better off calling it a hot room.
No joo, eihän 60 astetta ole edes niin kuuma. Ja mikä huussi se on.
@@CaedmonOS not even hot - a warm room
In the book, the leg and arm pads provide a pumping action that circulates moisture around the suit and eventually pushes it through some futuristic reverse-osmosis system.
The interesting part about this is NASA actually implement this in their rockets and in the space station so when you go to the restroom, it usually recycles it into water. Very interesting.
Y'all NEEEED to make Power Armor, specifically the X-01 armor.
I would like to point out that the book states that it cools the body as well. It also runs from pumps attached to the boot, and the whole thing is powered by your body movement. The stillsuit also requires constant maintenance and is incredibly expensive. Most facilities only have one still suit that is maintained and passed down from generations. It is also primarily made from a plastic material that is a by-product of spice purification. So the suits are literally made of spice.
Stay hydrated❎stay dehydrated ✅
3:53 That's not a Stillsuit. That's a deflated Baymax 😂
One of the coolest builds that Hacksmith has made in a while
Dude in the dune book they had heel pumps (that you pressed when you walk) and run the sweat through some reverse osmosis filters using your own body weight to pressurize it.
I love that you've brought back to life those old memes like the spoon licking guy and the so good and tasty guy
old?!
* withers away into dust *
Day 2 of asking hacksmith to make power armor from fallout
Yessss🎉🎉
Day 1 of supporting the dude who is asking for a fallout power armor
So it seems you are only collecting moisture from his breath and not the actual sweat that is collecting in the suit. So making him sweat serves no purpose except to dehydrate him. You need some way of collecting the sweat from the bottom of the clean suit.
That's the first time I've seen a measuring cylinder modified and NOT into a "water pipe".
the point of a still suit is it's a all in one solution the fabrinc design and tubing shapes all have to be kenetic functionial so pumping needs to be done by walking
There is some god tier editing in this video. Well done to the whole team!
Hands down this is one of the coolest builds you guys have done.
8:06
Borat button
I love how they made the dirt sand coloured during the outdoor test.
Umm he wasn’t drinking sweat at all, he was just drinking the moisture from exhaling. The tyvek suit and making him sweat was either a prank or an oversight
Have you considered building a real t-51 power armor?
Dude oh my freaking gosh I have been waiting for so long for someone, anyone! To make a real, working still suit. Thank you so much for making so many dreams come true with this channel
The editing on this one is hilarious
The point is to keep you cool but also collect your moisture, not to induce sweating to collect. You should use the water collected to circulate around the body like a space suit; vent the heat passively or actively and also use it to drink.
Now I want to see y’all actually make a full functioning stillsuit design. Not sure how you’d power it sustainably, or effectively capture sweat, breath, and other fluids.
I think it would be really cool to see this not just a one day build, but a full on project from you guys
Bogdan did a great job. Like always
You know what would be a perfect addition to this? Little solar panels! Plenty of sun in the desert. That’s your desert power right there.
I’m almost wondering if this would actually have real-world applications in survival situations like isolation in the desert and at sea. Maybe if there’s a good way to keep the suit cool inside, it could be.
I don't get how he's drinking his sweat, looks like he's only drinking his condensed breath
Baymax and dune Crossover. Yess. 0:53
I'd like to see this build but with more time dedicated to it. Wonder how viable it can really be
This was gross. 😂
You know what? They should just cast Daryl in the next dune movie.
Don't seem to be getting much of the body sweat moisture. The breath is the easy part to get. It's all the sweat that's hard to gather
erased passage from the original Dune script by Franck Herbert:
Paul journal : "I remember the first I've peed inside a Stillsuit, I puked right away thinking that I'll drink it later... Then I puked even more thinking that I'll drink my puke later..."
I'm only surprised it took so long for you guys to get around to this, and in only a day? imagine if you spent as much time on it as the John Wick suit project.
We'd go bankrupt if we spent years on this... if we don't make content we can't keep the lights on 😢
missed opportunity to put one of them in a latex suit
cooking an employee for a video is wild lmao
Off topic; Lenticular sheet "invisibility shields" are a thing, and it's interesting how they work.
I wonder how effective and practical mounting lenticular sheet arrays on drones (flying and boat) can be?
Does lenticular sheet "invisibility" work underwater? how optically "invisible" can you make a drone before the lenticular sheets interfere with function?
Asking because Avengers Helicarrier? and Quinjets? Might even be interesting if lenticular sheet material coul be setup in rotating strips for a now you see me and now you don't effect?
Just spitballing an idea you might have fun with. :)
If you got something to cool the body down, this could be a genuinely useful product for summer, and that's terrifying
Looks totally nice! Another great Hacksmith project!
This video is great. I like these less produced videos with the jump cuts to memes.
The Dune Still suits probably work through capillary action, rather than what you've designed. The materials used in the suit probably made to direct the body moisture to a pack worn on the back where it is turned to vapor and then condensed, while the impurities are expelled through vents or something from the pack, though salt would likely be placed in a separate container.
Perhaps I missed it... how is it capturing sweat? The condenser is picking up his exhaled breath. I suppose a little of the humid air in the suit itself would come in contact with the cooling fins, but there's no mechanism for circulating air inside the suit and no way to actually capture any liquid from the skin or inner suit surface.
would have been interesting to know how much water was reclaimed, some numbers
could see this being useful in a space suit with a dedicated cooler for the water to cool the body.
If this work with solar energy, this wold be vary good on the real desert
"I can drink your sweat." - the Hacksmith 2024
Caught up on whether or not he could and didn't ask if he should
I would SO MUCH like to see an upgraded version of this, because this is awesome.
I definitely think this concept needs a revision much like how the channel has gone back to the Lightsaber and Thors hammer ideas to implement different features and then sometimes merging them together Iron Man armour style. I think a starting point would be seeing if you guys could engineer into a material that when against the skin, can pick up the sweat on the body, absorb it and pump it into small tubes over body, kinda like how astronaut suits use micro-tubes to pump water around the suit to regulate temperature. It might be too costly but if its possible you could legit contribute to science potentially.
There's probably some cool capillary action magic that would make a sweat reclaimer viable! Fun vid.
This is awesome, I think dune is cool. Another idea though is fallout power armor! That'd be awesome!
It's incredible to see how this started with one person and now has a great team, showing that it is possible to do anything. This was one of the reasons that inspired me to be a girl studying mechatronic engineering. I hope to visit Hacksmith Industries one day. Hugs from Brasil.🇧🇷
Been Missing the 'Make It Real' and '1-day-builds' from y'all! glad to see you're back at it! It'd be even better if you did more passion projects, in between the sponsorships though!
Having 'careless whisper' playing when inserting the tube was wholly unnecessary.... but I loved it
I've always pronounced it as "Har-KOE-nen". Hearing it differently in this movie was so weird
0:52 Bro turned into baymax
I like the idea, but the condenser is shut off from the rest of the suit and is only concentrated on his breath vapor. I would say he's just drinking mouth water and not even his own sweat. The gloves aren't really open into the suit and are just skin tight trapping the sweat in the gloves with nowhere for it to go, leaving him with prunes for hands.
am I the only one who noticed that this is basically just pulling the moisture out of the air that's OUTSIDE the suit and does almost nothing to collect the moisture INSIDE the suit. the only airflow comes from outside and there's nothing circulating the air inside.
You guys should work on the Fremen lasgun. You guys are amazing, especially working on a Dune project
That's what I imagine my dream job would look like
3:04 Missed This guy....Everytime I see him I see Halo Helmet Scene😂😂😂😂🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Next episode: Hiking across a desert wearing the Still Suit.
Go to like Arizona or somewhere where a good chunk of it is desert and see how well the still suit actually works.
A loved to see a Oblivion drone 166 here 😍
would be interesting to see this attempted using methods described in the books , such as heel pumps . this is a great proof of concept though , well done !
When they put him in the sauna my first thought was “oh they are going to kill this man”
I love the new style where a technical guy outfits person who is fired up about it!
Tbh the concept is cool but a version that does not keep the user as warm as possible while genuinely recycling atleast the sweat if not the urine would be a lot more impressive and probably genuinely useful for desert missions and such, where the ability to bring less water along might make a big difference for military and other outdoors uses
This is honestly epic af
Not filtering sweat though, just water vapour in breath. Still very cool.
Another great video guys. Would love to see more dune content
the QR code says "WAKE THE FUCK UP"
Heh was wondering if anyone would catch that. Used to be in my basement, I'd set a power timer, sauna would be hot by my alarm, and the only way to disable my phone alarm was to scan the QR code 😅
@@theHacksmith Brilliant!
This reminds me of a certain space comic…
Dune is just what it’s like to live in Southern California
This stillsuit need vacum kompresor that remove air under the layers of suit to avoid varming body during hot air under the suit.
Probably funniest episode they have ever done
Suggestion. Those elbow pads look like you could modify them into radiators. How feasible would that be?
A cooler for the water would be a great addition to the suit. Keeps the user a bit cooler and makes the water taste better.
Are you sure you didnt planned a Baymax Suit?
Love the vid and simplicity of it, just a cool thing I thought to mention is that tyvek holds in physical moisture in the form of drops but allows air and water vapour through as the material's whole point is to be breathable. Hope it might help with future projects
Amazing! "The Slurper has awakened!" 🤣
Good job as always.
The only problem is that you are not collecting or processing any sweat only the moisture from their breaths.
Canadian sauna, requires extra heater to get hot... As a Finn, I can't help but to laugh
Extra heater to get hot quickly for a video made in one day 😅
Now make one that’s filters the body fluids and cools you. So you could actually use it in the desert
