  • Only 50km south of the city of Munich sits the historical town of Bad Tölz. As well as being a spa town, Bad Tölz is famous for its well maintained late-medieval and early-baroque buildings along the Marktstrasse. A short hike up the Kalvarianberg will also bring you to the Kalvarianbergkirche, an 18th century church that sits upon a medieval execution site and provides a beautiful view of the town from above.

Very good short video of Tölz. It's pronounced 'Ezar,,,,' tho spelt Isar. Have visited many times since 1993.
Beautiful, magical place w a black Madonna up on a street corner on the Marktstrasse

I felt so privileged to have lived in Bad Tolz 1951-1954 and visited again in 1994 with my 3 brothers. As I drink a Stein of Paulaner

Stayed there in 2004 it lit up my world for International travel . Wouldn't mind living there for awhile . If you've ever noticed at the end of the movie "Schindler's List" it is mentioned because there was large SS training facility there and Amon Gõth fled Plazkow Concentration camp and was found in a sanitarium hiding there

Loved Bad Toelz! Lived there from 1985 to 1989 and stationed at Flint Kaserne, 10th Special Forces Group.

As an Army Brat, I basically grew up in Bad Tolz. My father was one of the original members of US Army Special Forces and the 10th Special Forces Group was stationed at Flint Kaserne, in Bad Tolz. We moved there in 1953 and we lived there until 1955 when we moved to Berlin. In 1957, we came back to the US, but in 1958, moved back to Bad Tolz. In 1964, we returned to The US but in 1966 we came back again, for 18 months. I was last in Bad Tolz in 1967 but I will be retiring next year and my wife (another Army Brat who lived in Stuttgart) are planning to return to Germany for a month. I can't wait to see Bad Tolz again. Thank you for this wonderful Video.

I am writing a book, and my characters are from Bad Tölz.
I think I made the right choice.
