I watched an interview Son's father did in Korea recently. He trained Son hard, but he made a lot of sacrifices himself. He used to wait outside in the cold for 6 hours while watching Son train inside the academy. This is so that he can plan Son's morning training accordingly. He didn't have much money then, so his hotel room was tiny, bare and cold, and he didn't have much to eat. When Son exercises and trains, the father did together with him. Old man's got a good 6-pack.

    • @moviemaker5able

True parental love is not absent of discipline or punishment of the child. Parents who say they would never discipline their children because "they love them so much" in fact do not love their children so much. Rather, they love themselves and their desires to be liked by their own children - feeding the ego I suppose. True love would instill discipline and punishment by way of the parents AUTHENTIC love and care for the child's wellbeing and their development and success which triumphs any fear that the child may grow to dislike the parent. All things considered, it's important to approach this with a grain of salt of course, and it looks like Son's father has done exactly that!

He actually tries his best to keep up with his son and help him with his training.
This is how a world class player is born.

Maybe an hour. From the short videos I saw, the kids he train all seem to have exellent left and right feet so his methods are proven even without the borderline abuse level. He seems to be keeping to his principal of not playing the actual 11v11 game and focusing on technical focus and development as an individual player. 2of his ex trainees are now playing in the second division of bundesliga. Pretty bright prospects as of now.

As an Asian, I can relate to Son even though I was far from him in my field. It is widespread that Asian parents set up an extremely high standard for their children and this is good and bad thing, You can't imagine that a British kid or American kid gets the same treatment from their parents. I am so happy that Son's success would demonstrate the good part of asian way of family education.
