  • I assemble the Hi /Lo clutch and planetary on the John Deere 1640. I cover timing the gears which is very important on these.

Great videos. I am getting ready to rebuild my pto clutch/brake and my hi-lo. Watched your videos and it has eased my mind on the job. That little tool you built to compress the spring is the cats meow. I'll be building one before I start the job.

@@BundyBearsShed question for you. I pulled it apart last night and found no issues with it. Before hand it had been slipping thought it was the clutch replaced it no change. Checked trans pressure was at 144 psi at 1500 rpm. Figured it was the hilo, pulled it all out couldnt see any damnage... what else do you think it could be?

G Day Lance, nice work mate what happens if you don’t time the gears in the pack? I would have thought the gear theta spacing was all uniform!

Hello Lance love the videos ,maybe you will see this maybe you wont, anyways have you ever rebuilt a 40kph planetery as i'm not 100% sure how to time it because it dose'nt have the 2 dots on bottom gear only a line on top gear witch is bigger than the bottom one it didn't seem timed correct so to get middle gear with v markings out you have to remove one planetary gear and gears are angled,i have set it with the line at top and it angles down to align with v on centre gear does this sound correct?.

Hi Lance. Great videos. The are very informative. I recently purchased a 2750 with issues. No hydraulics below 1500 rpm. I cleaned sump screen, replaced filter and checked filter bypass valve. Only 1650 hrs on tractor. Thinking trouble might be a cracked tube or something , I split unit. Went thru hi lo, pto, piping and orings. Did not find anything. Any ideas?
