    Theres a video i see pop up from time to time where someone made ramps from 2x8 boards and a hinge so you can swing the ramp out of the way once the wheel is on top

      @@CPSteveMiller it’s just scary to see what people tow these enormous trailers with and wonder why they got problems or they wrecked there truck

    During the Great Recession wife and I were buying used travel trailers from all over the central U.S. and transporting them to NE Texas to repair and make habitable for evicted people to purchase at low prices so they weren't homeless. After the first transport I started carrying a complete set of new tire and wheel assemblies. What I looked for below a blowout was weather checking,wrong tire weight ratings, low tire pressure (duh), damaged wheels,etc. Of the 18 we transported for repair,15 needed tire and wheel changeouts before we started the tow.Because of different set ups I had 3 unique tire and wheel sets. Heaviest was 14 ply and others were 12 ply. Had my own tire machine and balancing machine so it was not that big of a deal.Max tow speed no matter the higher speed limit was 60 MPH. Speed generates tire heat and heat kills trailer tires.

      I told him prior that we're most likely going to need to replace them before the trip. I just don't trust people to do it themselves. I've had a bunch of people just buy cheap tires before I get there and call it good. Then the new tires blow out.

      It's just too much. I'm not putting tires and wheels I had to pay for on a customer trailer. If they need tires when I hook up, I get paid extra. I haul so many different types of trailers with different patterns. I already have a full setup. Don't really need to add more clutter to it. If it works for you, I get it. After 6 years I've never had a need to do it. I'll take that extra pay! 😁

    What is the problem with those camper tires, are they dry rotted because campers typically sit in backyards or driveways 95% of their lives or are they mostly cheap tires? They blow out so much on you over the years, that is BS for you! Great video!

    • @CPSteveMiller
      @CPSteveMiller  Před měsícem +1

      It's because people let them sit for so long with no protection on them. The best thing to do when you own a camper is to either cover the tires or, if possible, take them off and put them in storage. This one only was dry rotted badly in the one side and minor on the other so you can tell which side was in direct sunlight

    How many tons is your truck? The back looks like it’s squatting.

    • @CPSteveMiller
      @CPSteveMiller  Před 25 dny

      I have it reverse leveled so when it's empty it sits flat with no rake.
      The previous owner put metal over the rear arches so it looks a half inch lower than what it is. When I replace the bed the wheel to fender gap is the same front and rear

    Hey quick questions do you prefer timbrens or airbags?

    • @CPSteveMiller
      @CPSteveMiller  Před měsícem +1

      It's a preference. Timbrens are a set it and forget it.
      Bags have multiple options
      Manual fill, push button fill, and auto leveling. It just depends on your budget. The cheapest option being the first one. It just takes extra time to fill them is all. Neither are a bad option
