Dirt Mounds Rising in the backyard, anyone know what's up?

  • Some kind of creature is creating these mounts???
    Spirit sure likes to watch them.
    A Mole or a Vole possibly?

    Looks like gophers to me! Get a poker and poke between each mound and check for tunnels.
    Definitely a gopher.

      i sure hope that's not PTSD, Walkin', lol. never see the perp. we do have moles around the hood, next door has lots of them. whom ever this is, they never poke out. never saw a gopher that didn't come out.

      Clay is a funny thing, super ooie gooie when wet, and as hard as concrete when dry.
      I’ve dug several pits in out ditch behind the backyard. The different layers are interesting. Top is dirt, then you hit small rocks and dirt, then river rock (I think a creek ran thru at one time) then sand and then clay. I discovered an asphalt road under the clay and more clay under the asphalt. And they wonder why I never get anything done……..😆

      @@IanCdnMerkaba moles are actually good. They are carnivores so your plants are safe. They love slugs and snails and move on once their food source is gone.
