They also used this engine in the CT6 platinum, albeit slightly detuned that I don't think were in those figures, that might double the sales. But really, automakers do this type of thing all the time, it's for production showcasing and experimentation, look at the Plymouth/Chrylser Prowler, they used that to experiment with aluminum bodies and show what they can do with it. They will use stuff they learned from this engine in other engines, it just might not be obvious.
The Cadillac CT6 line deserved a lot more time on the market than what it got. It was the perfect Cadillac flagship vehicle(other than the Escalade). Not everyone wants an SUV, crossover, or electric vehicle. Some people(like myself) just want a good sedan.
Thanks for the video. There are not enough videos of the CT6 V out there. It's my favorite modern Cadillac. And they're kinda underrated IMO. Everybody talks about the CT5-V or maybe the older CTS and other V models with the LS/LT V8. I know these CT6-V, Blackwing-powered Caddies are rare, so that makes it harder for the aftermarket to do anything on them. It's really a shame that GM didn't use this powerplant in other vehicles.
@@bwofficial1776 They probably deemed the Blackwing engine not financially viable, since the good ol' LT4 can pack more than enough power/torque levels while being simpler and cheaper to produce.
Lol, nice audio trick with the speaker location. I feel like the CT6 in general could be brought back into production. They already assembled a low volume luxury production facility for the Celestiq to compete with Bentley and RR. Update the interior to the new Escalade style & tech, make it truly silent on the inside and offer some bespoke custom options on a build to order basis. Aim it to compete at the 7 series/S class (up to just below the Alpine/Maybach versions). Maybe offer a longhorn hood accessory so Americans would want to buy it.

In most German cars you can option in a full size spare or at least a 3/4 it's probably legally required in Germany but of course if they can save money in the States they want to do it
It’s one of the most amazing cars to come from Cadillac. I was so close to getting one a few years back but my kids ( all in their 20’s) said it was an old man’s car. Told them I wasn’t exactly young. Kind of wish I pulled the trigger on it but instead I got a 19 CTS-V with carbon package etc which I love. Awesome car as well but far from a stealthy street sleeper like the CT6.
I'm always impressed with your professional and conversational delivery. I liked that you gave an honest evaluation at the end. You covered the tech and function of the interior but didn't say anything about how luxurious the interior was. I'm sure this was an expensive car when new and Cadillac has been trying to upgrade the quality of its interiors. From your video it didn't look that rich.
Cars like this are proof that GM can build a good car when they want to but they just don't. They're happy to take a car 85% of the way there and call it good enough. When they finally do get something right, they immediately kill it. Making an engine just for one car only to immediately kill it is classic GM not seeing the forest for the trees. The CT-4 V and CT-5 V can hold their own against the Germans but for the crappy interior. This CT-6 has a subtle presence like an Audi A8. Cadillac could be the Standard of the World again if GM would let it. Unfortunately, GM is marching toward electrification so this fine engine is barely a blip. Improve the crappy interior quality and crappy switchgear and this could go up against the Germans.
Yep. It's all the more damning on why are GM so bad at making economy cars. If just put the same effort in, then cars like the Cruze and Aveo could be great...
That car is fantastic. Everything I would like in my car. But I would have preferred the LS engine, as that 4.2 will be incredibly hard to get parts for over time. Beautiful car.

GM could make Cadillac the Standard of the World again. GM knows how to build a good car but they just don't. They get 85% of the way there, say "that's good enough", and then kill it off right after they finally get the approval to take it to 100%.

I don't think its all so complicated. The Lincoln Continental was discontinued too. the market for a large lux vehicle has gone to Escalades mostly, or their brethren suburbans, Yukons, or the competitive Lincoln Navigator. Now I assume those trucks are more expensive and definitely use more gas, but these American Luxury cars come too close in price to a Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Genesis. the simplicity of it is if someone has the kinda money to get something like this wouldn't they get something that is top of it's class? The Escalade is known as top of its market, where as if you want a luxury car you'd get a Mercedes S class. I don't think this car was boring at all. it looks much nicer than the Lincoln Continental. The styling is fantastic, although seeing in your review the interior still looks cheap and plastic.
I am guessing this car was over 100K new and for that kind of money you can go get an M5 or an e63 AMG which will probably be a nicer experience say what you want about German cars but because of the Autobahn they can make an extremely compotent four door sedan with a noisy engine that goes stupid fast
