My cousin in SoCal had a yellow Harrington jacket. When I was out there for my first year of college, I bought one. Being blonde, it was great on me. Back in the Chicago are, I wore it in the summer time until it wore out. Over the years, I found one in a thrift store and I bought it. Not really a fan of such a bright jacket anymore. You always have to be aware of where you live and what you do. Beach towns are different than Midwest cities. Camel jacket colors look good on me and navy. I have plenty of both. It gets cold here. The camel hair polo coat is very elegant. Burburry trenchcoats are very practical. Duffle coats and Pea coats, both in navy blue are so practical and timeless. Thank you for your videos.
Hi William, that jacket sounds like a great find. Definitely a stand-out piece, and it's always exciting when you find something that compliments your natural features. James Dean was a master of that, in my opinion. I'm also a big fan of the camel hair coat and a navy pea coat, but living on the West Coast, I rarely get the chance to wear them.
If fictional characters can be recommended, I would consider Jame Bond. For actors, the first choice is Sean Connery; close second, Daniel Craig.
Well said, Scott. I think the casual style of Bond is particularly underrated and both Daniel Craig and Sean Connery did it very well. They are also my two favorite Bonds.
Great video!! Steve McQueen is a good one
Thanks Jeff! McQueen is one the list for sure
lf you read the stories about Jimmy Dean, he only brought only ONE small cardboard box tied with a string onto the plane when he moved from NYC to California, as witnessed by film director Elia Kazan in his autobiography. So how could Dean wear so many different outfits in the hundreds and hundreds of photos of him? He always looks stylish, from suit and tie, to a leather jacket on a motorcycle, jeans and white shirt, cowboy outfits. Nobody ever addresses this contradiction. He only spent money on Porsches, and nothing on his outfits, but yet he has a such variety of garments in every picture. Nobody has ever addressed this contradiction. Anyhoo, agree on the Dean style.
I would like to hear your take on Ralph Lauren.
Put aside the show and I would suggest Ric Flair from the 80's. Rolex, diamond rings and alligators...WOOOOOOO
Would have a look at dean martin, he is often overlooked in the menswear space but he was really stylish
That's a good suggestion, thank you! There were so many well-dressed men of that era. I find it interesting to consider how we can wear their looks in a modern way as young men.
I second Steve McQueen
I definitely have to do a McQueen video at some point!
What about Arthur Fonzarelli’s classic look?😅👍🏽
Ryan Gosling and the goat, Carey Grant. Nobody wore a grey suit better.
Cary Grant is a wonderful suggestion. I need to check this before I make the video, but I think he wears the same suit during the entire North by Northwest movie. It goes to show that a few simple accessories can make just one suit very versatile and effective.
Hows about Morrissey? You know, he wrote a book on James Dean in his youth.... pretty great.
I love Morrissey! The Smiths are one of my all-time favorite bands
Yeah he's the best. also thinking of Bryan Ferry, Warhol, David Lynch, Vincent Gallo@@Gent.Z
@@Tom______________ thank you for the suggestions! David Lynch has a very distinct ‘uniform’ with his suit and tie, that’s very interesting to me. Bryan Ferry is a huge hero of mine, I would to love to do a video on him and it’s great to hear that others would like to see it!
Many GIs who came home from WW2 were the proto surfers, hot rodders, and bikers and created the casual aesthetic
Just this video, great info. One of my suggestions would be Connor McGregor
Check out French actor alain delon style
Alain Delon is one of my favorite style icons and I have often tried to copy his looks. I will most certainly do a video on him soon, thank you!
For me, Frank Sinatra is up there on my list.
Great suggestion, I love Sinatra so much
Congratulations on the channel, absolutely superb
Now you have moved to New York, ( hope you have settled in well)
The style of the most famous Mafia Don John Gotti would be great choice for video
Appreciate the channel
Well done
do steve mcqueen cause he's the king of cool
Paul Newman always looked good.
Definitely going to cover Paul Newman very soon! Thanks for the suggestion, William
Try River Phoenix
Great suggestion, nobody has put him forward before. Thank you!
There was only one James Dean.
He's great, but I'd rather look up to Steve McQueen, as a style icon
Great suggestion, Daniel. I will definitely do a video on McQueen in the future.
