YELLOW JACKET SUPERNEST! 10,000 Wasps In My Barn Wall! Wasp Nest Removal

  • This German Yellow Jacket (Vespula germanica-anthic) Nest was growing inside my barn wall all season. I was watching the activity throughout the summer, but unfortunately, they were making their way into the barn apartment and sying around the windows, and with guests coming to stay in the apartment, the yellow jackets had to go!
    I estimate this SUPERNEST colony had over 10,000 yellow jackets in it! Thats a BOOMING colony!

    You know it's going to be a great nest removal when Hornet King has to remove it from his own property. I'm always amazed how docile German yellowjackets are, and how large they build their nests. Your pets really did get super fresh nest from their very own nest!!

    Side note, have you considered picking up a thermal camera to try to see where the wasps are? I picked up a P2 pro a while ago and I can clearly see where they missed some insulation in my walls and ceiling, might be an interesting tool for wasp removal. They've really dropped in price and they're way more capable than they used to be.

      you can pretty easily hear what part of the wall they're in, destroying the wrong wall doesn't seem like its been a problem he's encountered before.
      and the wasp themselves most likely would not show up because they're cold blooded.

    • @ERROR-ve5ir
      @ERROR-ve5ir Před 26 dny +4

      @@videogamesarecool9280 I'm pretty sure they would show up due to the thermal energy generated from the movement and respiration of thousands of insects within close proximity.

    From what i understand the majority of nests that are inside houses are placed in the foam / insulation . Here in europe where the majority of the construction uses concret and stone for building materials we dont suffer from such invasions. I always think that the houses in the usa are not worh their price in material quality.

    • @imagin916
      @imagin916 Před 9 měsíci +2

      We also have air conditioning here which they don’t in Europe. I’ll take insulation that keeps the heat or cool air in than stone that doesn’t do much but keep the house cold when you don’t want it to be.

    • @lolidasterner414
      @lolidasterner414 Před 9 měsíci +4

      @@imagin916 they do depends on the country. On the south europe we have cement and stone simply because its better in the summers. On the northern europe it is a mix of cement and indoor or outdoor layer of insultation. But practically no country uses wood for materials except for the roofs. And dont forget many countries suffer from eartquakes so good materials are a must.

    YIKES!!!! Now you have an idea of how I felt when I discovered a nest of yellow jackets inside the back wall of my house last year! Fortunately (?) they got into the garage instead of the master bedroom directly above, but since there are trapdoors to the bathrooms’ pipes both in the garage and in my bedroom closet, I wasn’t having it! Wowzer! And for the record, the exterminator only killed the yellow jackets-the nest itself is still somewhere in my garage ceiling, and since getting at it would involve tearing up the drywall I will never know how big it got!
    So glad you got this nest evicted before your family came, although it’s a shame you couldn’t watch it actually grow.
    With the size of that nest, I bet your birds enjoyed the snack!
