This deck reminds me of the Oracle of the Radiant Sun in art/style. Obviously, this came hundreds of years before, that said it just has a that similar vibe yet being very different too. As a reader of Tarot, Gypsy, Lenormand, Oracle as well as playing cards, i think this is right up my street. Great video.

@Judy I have always felt such a close kinship with The High Priestess of the Tarot, that I felt that I could give a highly accurate Reading using just that one card. Indeed, it is amazing just how much one can receive from one card, one Rune, one symbol, etc.

Hey Lisa! In my Kotelnikova Polish translation book, the card is described as Aphrodite discovering the body of Adonis.
That would make sense as in Greek myth, Aphrodite was married to Osiris. But the LWB, Silvestre, Sedillot, and all other GJL researchers that I know of agree that this is the Egyptian story of Isis and Osiris - probably because Egyptian mythology predates Greek. phoenician.org/isis_and_osiris_legend/
@@lisaloveslenormand6357 i know the history of Isis and Osiris, when I was a kid I would be super into Egyptian mythology and I still remember some of the most important/core myths from it.
@@etherealwavefan94 Nice! That will help you in learning this system. There are other references to Egyptian mythology in this deck. I find it extremely fascinating!
I can't help but notice that this card is somehow both marked with Queen of Spades... and the Geomantic Figure, Laetitia, when both of these symbols feel like they couldn't be further away from one another. Queen of spades is the old maid, the crone, the widow, or the unfaithful woman. In tarot it represents the mind liberated from emotion, etc. All of these ideas seem juxtaposed to the concept of Laetitia which is a subjetive feeling of high spirits and euphoria.
You even say this is a very unhappy card despite being marked with Laetitia which is one of the happier geomantic figures
How does one compromise between these two conflicting ideas?
They're not conflicting ideas at all. This should help.
The Queen may represent a lonely woman - a widow - but she's also ambitious, intelligent, and skillful and this card represents all of that. What's most important to understand is the full story of the myth of Isis and Osiris, which represents the certainty of rebirth to eternal life, thanks to infinite love, which unites the creator to his creatures. Overwhelmed with grief and animated by divine inspiration, Isis manages to find all the remains of Osiris and with the help of Anubis, recomposes him. Her tears resuscitate him and he then ascends from the kingdom of the dead. This card often appears for a lonely seeker, especially if they just lost someone very dear. It's reminding them to not give up hope and know that no-one really dies. It's not a card about death, but rebirth. Laetitia is a sign of joy, or in this case, a return to joy. It represents upward movement and an improvement in your situation.

@Lisa Loves Lenormand, this was an excellent video. I recently finished the Nerys Dee book about Playing Card Divination, so the timing was Divine.
Interestingly enough, I remembered the correspondence tables from "Tarot for Your Self," by THE Mary K. Greer, and recalled seeing the correlations between the suits of a deck of playing cards and its corresponding Minor Arcana Suits.
Your recommendations for learning and connecting to the Grand Jeu Lenormand are so especially helpful, as well as massively appreciated.
Incidentally, I do play with my Grand Jeu Lenormand Cards, from time to time. Also, I conducted a Video Reading for a brand new client, last month/year, December, 2022, and I wound up using four different decks, including one of my newest playing card decks, solely for Divination and the Grand Jeu Lenormand. It was one of the wildest Readings I had conducted in a long time!

I bet that was a wild reading! I used to perform animal communication with remote viewing, astrology, pendulums, oracle cards, and tarot cards. I would spend days on those readings and the interesting thing was that each tool provided different information and there was at least something spot on and deeply felt by the seeker obtained from each of them! By practicing all of those methods, I was able to find the ones that were the best fit for me as a practitioner. Other than that, each tool and system gave me ideas to take outside of that system and apply to others. It's all about playing for me (big surprise!). If it ain't fun, I ain't doin' it! 😁
@@lisaloveslenormand6357 Good morning Lisa and I must say, all those Divination methods in one Reading sounds beyond AWESOME!! You are correct about different Divination Systems providing different information. In fact, not too long ago, I watched a video from @The Card Geek about different card reading systems and their respective "personalities."
I must admit, as someone who is not only a Sun-Sign Capricorn, but also has Mercury and Venus in Capricorn, being serious is my "default." However, I have discovered as I grow older, having fun and enjoying my life more are more of a priority. Of course, when it comes to my professional life, I AM all business.
In the meantime, I must say that I love how you told the Sacred Story of Isis and Osiris and Seth. However, they are not Greek Deities. They are Ancient Egyptian. Fun fact: their more common names, as in the ones by which most people know them, are the ones the Ancient Greeks used for them). When I saw Isis and Osiris on The Lovers Card from "The Lover's Path Tarot," by Kris Waldherr. And yes, I own a copy of this particular Tarot Deck (smile).
