I graduated from architecture 2 years ago and that example of "weird assignments given by teachers bowling alley/funeral home" is the perfect summary of whole architecture education :D
Both. If you really love architecture, you will have a love/hate relationship. You will be in pain constantly but you won't able to live without it. So if you like challanges and you are a passionate person go for it. But if you want a easy life. Simple no
@sujata pal architecture is actually a lot of fun for me:) All the drawing, planning and model making is so fulfilling that you actually don't notice the time passing by.
@@LlyanAustria Yes I agree its fulfilling for people really born for to be an architect because we love it but I have seen alot of example like my classmates suffered alot because they actually did not like their job. Another danger is yes you do not realize how time pass sometimes while enjoying drawing and researching but also you do not realize you are missing your youth. I did this mistake alot. So my suggestion would be, if you really like it go for it, do not get overwhelmed with the pain part ( it is be there with deadlines and crual professors :D) but always try to focus on satisfaction part. Because I can not describe you the happiness to see when people love to live in the building you designed. Also take care with your physical and mental health ( it is very important ) and try to give a break and enjoy with life once in a while. Because eveybody knows architects do the best parties 😊
I consider Fletcher's A History of Architecture as my bible during my university days. Great list. I would suggest another video where you can do a review of the best fiction books with architecture themes. Or a top 10 list of Architecture-related films. Goodluck.
I'm a real supporter of sketchbooks, I use them everyday. But if it's a great design idea you get, you won't forget that idea. Also very nice videos ! :)
You are inspiring, sir. Whenever I get confused and unsure whether I should still pursue bs architecture I just watch some of your videos and I'm inspired to do better again. I'm an incoming 3rd year student and you're definitely one of the reasons why I still want to be an architect. Thank you so much.
So my schools architecture room go changed and they started renovating the old room, when that happened I saw a box of books outside the room one day and found a 1954 copy of the time saver standards, also we have random book sales and that's where I got my second edition of form space and order, loved the video btw
I graduated 1986. I really like your videos. Made me reminisce of the freshness and excitement of when I was started college. I still refer to these books from time to time. Some info or ideas maybe outdated but its a great investment for your BASICS. My tips to new students. Make friends with not just your classmates but also with your upper class-men and professors. Informative advice are GOLD. OR try to intern in architectural or engineering companies as early as possible. One of my regrets I didn't do. Too busy hanging out with friends.
Wow! I thought I was weird for using sketchbooks. Luckily, I wasn’t alone haha! Btw I’m preparing for the ALE and I learn a lot from your channel. Thanks!
i love that you used two of my books from first year architecture i already had. I trust it a little more now rather than thinking my professors just want to punish me
If you guys don't have have the budget to buy the books mention in the video.....you could download(not legal obviously) all of those here b-ok.cc....but I do suggest buy the last book because if you are going to use it as a reviewer then it's better to review with a hard copy rather than on some PDF reader on your phone or laptop👍👍

I love your youtube contents! I have an idea on your next content! Do a content that is a straightforward talk on how to pass the ALE. Talk about the right techniques, organization of your files. Is it better to print books or on pdf. Where to buy cheap books. How to memorize words efficiently. How to understand each subject. What subjects do you have to read and study first. What subjects do you have to have more focus on and subjects to focus less. When did you start reviewing. Did you study while you are doing your ojt. How did you managed your time. How many hours a day do you study. Do you have any review center recommendations (this part is tricky, it's really up to you if you want to be directly honest on this part), follow-up talk: do you believe that there's a leak on review centers on what's going to come out in the exam?, also talk about the environment or places that you love studying. Does your parents support you fully from your review fees and books to the expenses like food for the brain. What books do we need to read from the famous and known books down to the less known and under rated ones. What's your favorite playlist while studying. Do you like making flash cards. Do you post review materials on your wall. Did you study with a group of friends? Is it preferable to study alone? Or are there things that you have to study alone. What are the things that you need to study in a group? Can you still remember what you did the hour, day, the week, the month before the exam?what did you do after the exam, did you sleep? Do you believe that you topping the exam was a miracle or more of a product of hardwork and natural intelligence? Can you share your drive on your review materials? Hehe Do you have any advise yo anyone who is doubting their self in passing the exam?
Thank you for this in-depth comment pal!!:) It will help me a lot when i develop my "How to pass the board exam video". There are also a ton of great ideas on points that you mentioned here that i will surely take note of. As for the advice, everybody has doubts, but everytime you doubt yourself just make an achievable goal (like read 5 pages of the book and internalize the info) and after doing so and achieving your goal the doubts will vanish. This is what i did:)
