Most of the bus drivers whenever I have said thanks or cheers to them when leaving the bus have ignored me in Belfast but there is a few nice drivers that have replied to me with either "no problem" or "all the best mate" that are there in Belfast as well, so its a 50/50 on a reply but manners cost nothing. But just remember the rude ones and its best to let the company know who the rude bus drivers are by reporting them as there is no need for them to act like that. Translink NI does need to do something about the rude bus drivers though as its not professional and its bad customer service to be like that with passengers. Not all is bad though because most of the bus drivers on the Foyle Metro where I live (Londonderry) are usually polite and they do respond when I say thanks to them. I still tend to find Translink NI bus drivers on the whole are better mannered overall when compared to the likes of Abellio and Stagecoach. The drivers of those two companies have no idea about customer service.
Wouldnt really say your drivers are friendly say thank you on the way of the bus and they point blankly ignore it
