One-week build of a custom carport. Time-lapse handily covers up all of our cursing and small mistakes. Check out my website for a full description of the project: jemvantyn.weebly.com/carport....

He probably means that there’s no beam. The entire weight is resting on the screws holding the 2x6 to the 4x4’s. In the north east you would need at least a double 2x8 beam on top of the 4x4’s to carry the snow load.
@@KyleS860 I think the columns are 6x6s, but I agree. I would have notched the 6x6's (and probably go with 8x8s) to hold the 2x6s at the very least. Outside of that, the rest looks ok to me.
Small mistakes? LOL, No way i would go near that thing or even park my POS truck under it. Hopefully you don't get any snow where you are and never build anything ever again until you learn some basics about framing.
Exactly nails in the posts over time will rust. And all that weight from the roof should be resting on the top of the posts, not nailed into the side of a board that is nailed to the post. Looks good, but over time, it is an accident waiting to happen.
Great 👍🏻Job !💯%
Thank 😊 you 👏!
Love it
Awesome
what is the width and depth
Quick question: what’s some methods for leveling post height against the others that spans a distance? Thanks in advance 🙏
did you ever get an answer for this?

Did you use scrap 6’ pieces to build this? 😳
Roughly how much did that cost you?
That type of car port is not up to codes in the state I live in the codes department would make me tear that down
What is out of code about it that your state would make you tear it down looks like a pretty solid build to me

What’s the issues with it?
@@TallTaleGael the header is not sitting on the posts.

Yeah I wouldn't stand under that.
Why is that?
Smh. Uneducated thinking
