    Thanks for the video. I put a good 20 yards through one of those tumbler ones before the barrel fell off. Was just about ready to buy another one to cement the barn floor in February.
    Just called our rental place. $113 per day $361 per week for the Mud mixer. Well worth giving it ago. Never buying a tumbler again.

    The MudMixer would be great, I can think of a number of projects I would do if I had one. What I have instead is an old Harbor Freight mixer similar to the one James has in this video. It's what I have so I use it. Rather than try and empty a bag of concrete into it I empty a couple of 80 pound bags into a wheelbarrow, put some water into the mixer and then I use a shovel to put concrete into the mixer. At 60 years old this loading system works well for me.

    • @LordoftheCats
      @LordoftheCats Před rokem +3

      Excellent advice. Slinging and cutting those bags in a HF mixer is a real pain. Nothing will wear you out quicker and I've got 10 years on ya!! LOL .

    • @vt20247
      @vt20247 Před rokem +1

      Those 80lbs are heavier as the years gone by. I remember when it was no issue for my pickup up 100lbs bag; I grabbed 50lbs bag with each hand. Now I would be lucky to pickup 60lbs bag. Thx goodness I have sa technic which is lift with your legs!

    • @thebeardedone1225
      @thebeardedone1225 Před 5 měsíci +2

      Ha, I'm almost 70, and thought I was the only one that did it that way. I use those black plastic mortar tubs in my wheelbarrow. It's a lot easier to break an 80 pounder in half, pour half in, then shovel the rest, pick up the tub and pour in that last half shovel. Wheelbarrow stays clean that way.

    I came across the mud mixer a few weeks ago and am really impressed!! I own 4 acres and have a lot of 'projects' [things I want to do] around the house /yard that I want to do. The only thing that held me back was that I didn't want to deal with concrete because of the CO$T and messiness [and confidence to do a good job]!! But THIS is definitely a game changer! I think that the cost of a mud mixer overall will pay itself off after a few projects since I won't have to contract the work out. Just get a finisher while I build my skills and then do jobs by myself eventually. Your videos have helped me out a lot and was the determining factor for me to get one in the coming months!! Thanks! Keep doing what you do!!

    Enjoyed your video. I’ve had mine since June and have poured about 10-12 yards in my barn floor. Mud Mixer has been great with their support. The only real issue I’ve seen have been more witb the Sakrete than the mixer. Inconsistency in the aggregate size is a pain, it binds a little off and on and then Home peepot sent me a pallet of old concrete that had set up and is all clumpy. It won’t run for nothing. I guess I could screen it, but too much work. Overall I am very satisfied too. I’m planning the last 8-10 yards over the Christmas holidays so I may reach out to them about a spare auger and shear pin or two. I’d hate to order 12 pallets of concrete and have it tear up.

    I noticed a minor problem another reviewer had with the Mud Mixer was to make sure the Mixer is leaning forward or at least level (not leaning backwards). The concrete didn't want to push out as easy when leaning back. If they added a screw jack similar to a trailer tongue jack would be nice.

    I've been considering pouring a 3.5 yard pad in my back yard for a Gazebo but because I don't have Truck access it makes mixing that much a tough job. This machine appears to make it a much easier job, but I couldn't justify it's purchase. Looking into rent it, it's only $97 per day at Rent-All. At a Year per Hour I'm looking at just 1 day of rent.

    I’m considering getting one, in Canada here it’s 5 grand by the time it gets to my door, so it’s a tough sell. On the bigger one they should have an option for a conveyor belt that feeds the full bags into the hopper, where the operator just has to drag bags to the bottom of the mixer, conveyor belt lifts and dumps it in the hopper, operator removes empty bag.

Will Probably be taking out the small patch job (2’x3’) because I was by myself and kept messing with the water mix. Anyway, have you had any issue with a sandy/wet mess leaking out of the shaft between motor and hopper? Had two big wet messes on a pool patio on each side that was pushing out cement & sand. Looks like a box sieve would sit on top of the hopper to screen out the over size aggregate. What ever the size would be to keep to the over size out. Down side would be you would have to cut open the bag before pouring through the sieve. Just a thought. Looks like a pretty cool machine.

    2 would be better than one bigger one just for the fact that if one went down, you would still have the other one running. You could also have them across from each other in some cases, like on each side of a sidewalk, when possible.

    are there any scenarios you have run into when the water is spraying when you did not want it to. For instance when you first start and put mix in do you get too much water too start until the auger can grab some mix? or the hopper runs out, etc.?

    So is this only mixing when it is feeding the concrete out? Or can you stop feeding out the concrete but keep it mixing so it stays consistent, for when you need to pause and move to a new area that you might be working, that is on the other side of the property?

    • @JamesMoVlogs
      @JamesMoVlogs  Před rokem

      yeah once you turn it off water shuts off and auger stops so you can move it

    I sure like that machine, but I dont do enough concrete work to justify it currently. I sure wish rental houses would start offering these! What would you say the largest pour you could comfortably do with this would be? Also I was wondering how the new set of MT100 tracks are holding up.. any better than the first replacement set? Im at 310hrs on my originals and starting to look for replacements. Thanks!

    If you had a premeasured amount of water you added to the drum mixer each time per load, wouldn't that even out the consistency of the concrete you were getting from it?

    Using bagged premix here is way to expensive unless its only two or three fence post's, its up to $17 a bag whereas bag of cement is about $10 and a scoop of premixed sand/metal is $30 so 1/2m3 of concrete is like $70 compared to 50+ bags $600@$12 per bag bulk price.
    Looks like a great mixer though

    This small unit needs to be in home depots rental store but they also need a larger tow behind unit that hooks to the back of your flat bed truck you've got a pallet full of ready mix bags on one guy could load all day and the crew spread out the mix on larger jobs, also a 4 part mixer that has the separate
    Components portland cement, sand and stone and fiberglass you can load with a skid steer, how many jobs are 50 miles outside city limits and no concrete companies around to deliver 50 yards of mix.
    You might get a pumper truck but its going to cost a bunch.
    Thats also an idea a tow behind pumper system .
    They do have mobile machines that bring the plant to you but your going to overpay for a 3 yard pour.
    The jobs too small.
    Bags cost more then the separate parts and i don't see adding fiberglass reinforcement with this system.
    Plus what if there's no power or water on the job, its going to need to be on your truck.
