In 1981 we saw the last of the Olympus half frame cameras, the Pen EF. It was hardly a grand farewell, but was a nice little simple snapper that harked back to the days of the Pen EE.

The EE-3 does differ from the EE-2 with the addition of the flashmatic system which allowed the camera to automatically select the correct aperture (when using a GN14 flash) based on the estimated distance settings on the ring: 1, 1.5, 2, 3 or 4 meters. I also believe, as you said, the EE-3 was only available with the black leatherette whereas the EE-2 was available in either black or gray.
