    As someone who is currently thinking of pursuing an A license, this is a great video. Thanks for taking the time to record this and post it here. I've got a few friends who dive out of Perris. Looks like a great place.

    I still remember first jump Perris in 1977. First 5 were static lines, then freefalls after that, with increasing altitude on successive jumps. FUN!

    Training has come a long way. My first jump was a static line with a T-10 and a belly wart reserve out of a LSU DC-3 at a DZ called Idle Hour. Rest in peace John Cutts.

      Who was John Cutts, and what is an LSU DC-3?

    • @MrPepper312
      @MrPepper312 Před 4 lety

      @@davemojarra2666 John Cutts was the drop zone owner. LSU is Louisina State University. The DC-3 flew the football team until John purchased it.

    I jumped at Perris 20 years ago and they didn't have any of this... They are and were great people at Perris Valley. I made a lot of friends at that drop zone and learned alot from their excellent staff. I need to visit there. I did 200 jumps over a 8 month period at Perris it was an AMAZING experience!!!!!

    It looks so fancy now. Must be expensive. In my several months of jumping once per week there, the ambience included dust and more dust. There were adults in their twenties or thirties who looked like they lived in poverty who played hackey-sack constantly and always a few people would be smoking dope. It was a nice, relaxed atmosphere--definitely not businesslike as in this film clip.

      True! The DZ atmosphere is so cool and relaxing you really live in the moment not just in the sky but at the DZ. ;)

      The only thing we had was the 60 ft trailer for control/booking; DIRT every to sit on and pack; the kiddie pool to stay cool. The "bomb shelter" was another beat up trailer, and GOOD food. IT WAS FUN!

    Why is a pilot chute deployed in each tandem jump shortly after stabilizing? Speed, handling the parachute, just curious.

    • @tombellamy7167
      @tombellamy7167 Před 7 lety +6

      Chris O'Dowd it's a drogue chute. It's used to slow rate of descent(slightly) and help stabilize tandems during freefall.

      Elsinore was a big old hangar; and fields of DIRT, just like Perris but we made it fun.

      I'm finding that with both jump sites available in my area too. The poor attitudes and lack of enthusiasm are not what I expect when handing thousands of dollars to them. It's our society today - maybe he should have interacted with her by text and emojis for a more personal experience.

    If you are scared, it's ok. If you are scared and two women are taking care of you, it is not ok. Man up.
