If you do a build, cold affinity with fire deadly sin incantation is a nice combo.
Cas is trying to finish the old classes before he has 8 more to deal with.
Haha 😂
Who came here directly from the shadow of the erdtree story trailer?
new trailer?
Yes. I’m very confused
Fuck. Me
I just wanna flying kick Maliketh already fromsoft pls
I didn't even realize a new trailer had dropped, so...thank you!
Venomous Fangs when infused with poison will increase the duration of its deadly poinson to 90 seconds, that's scarlet rot damage numbers. It's great to apply poison than switch to another weapon.
Wrong, the whole point of deadly poison is to remove the poison on the enemy as soon as possible and get the poison boost again. No affinity is better than poison affinity
@@CavernsDev use poison moth flight to reset the longer version of deadly poison
Huh?@@CavernsDev
I'm not going to spam poison moth flight that's a dumb answer. Having to spam a horrible Ash Of war to get buffs isn't good build making
And if you are gonna use poison moth flight what even is the point of poison infusion for more poison damage if you will just remove it. Your answer doesn't make sense. Poison infusion is worse than standard end of story
Always loved your work, keep it up.
Shadow of the Erdtree is going to keep you busy, so I’m thanking you ahead of time.
Fextra video AND a new trailer???? god it’s good to be alive!
Fr fr
Y’all are pumping these out like crazy! Your work isn’t going unnoticed, keep it up :)
Appreciate all the videos! I think half my builds are variants of builds you have made 🙌🏻
Ah, claws, my beloved. Probably the single biggest reason Bloodflame Blade is my favorite spell in the game.
Surprised you didn't mention the Poison-infused Venomous Fang trick, that it keeps the deadly poison damage but regular poison duration. It does 12.6% max + 1260 HP damage, honestly pretty comparable to weapon-inflicted scarlot rot's 16.2% max + 1350.
Poison Infusion Ven Fangs are just worse than base. The whole point of deadly poison is that it wears off quickly so it can be re-applied and the buff will be re-applied. Having the poison infusion will make the poison last longer, and the buffs less frequent
@@CavernsDev I mean, if you're going for a Rot Exultation build, sure.
If you're just going for the DoT, extra duration on deadly poison is nearly all upside - needing to reapply less often means less micromanaging and more total damage before you hit an enemy's max poison resistance. All you actually lose is the opportunity cost of using a different infusion for more up-front damage or a different status.
Great timing along with the second DLC trailer, Fextra. Way to go, excellent vid!
On a technicality, the hookclaws are the latest acquired claw, as none of the others are locked behind a boss at all
Funny how about five of my character builds ago, I'd already started considering any weapon that doesn't require beating Radhan or Morgott MKII as "early-game."
That was the character I made to beeline for Ghiza's Wheel and start introducing Limgrave to my pizza-cutting techniques.
Nice near the end of the elden ring weapons guide Thank you fextralife
I have been waiting for this one since the first video
I want to note 2 more things about the Raptor Claws:
1) their normal R2 can stunlock a lot of enemies, including big ones like the Omen
2) Last time I made a RKR Jump build with them, the jump R2 was bugged and did not get the 80% damage boost (it was something like 0,8%). The R1 does though. The weaker version of the AoW (the one that gives 60%, forgot the name) is not bugged.
Great video as usual. Would love to see these for staves and seals.
Thanks again for all these videos. I really enjoy them, I'm not even sure why I like them quite as much as I do...
It's reassuring when the build idea I had appears in this video! Only difference was the weapon art. Raptor of the mists rather than endure on the venemous fang. Love being able to duck any attacks.
Sweet, my favorite weapon set!
Fextra turning it to goddamn Christmas in May. Ive been asking for daggers and claws since he started this series. Im glad to see it being buttoned up
And in my experience, claws gameplay hasnt really changed since the status nerf. That leads me to believe paired weapons arent affected meaning claws are arguably the best weapons to proc status
I ran the bloodhound fangs with heavy affinity on a strength build, along with cragblade. Works pretty okay, was a character I was originally using the star fists for, so gave up a bit of damage for the range but it was fun.
Took two years but I'm glad to see my two favorite weapon types (claws and daggers) covered.
The push on ER weapons showcases considering DLC dropping is immaculate
endure FINALLY mentioned 🙏 bloodhound claws set to cold + endure is a powerful setup for strength/magic hybrids
Hey! Something you missed about the Serpent Fang is that if you infuse them with poison, they deal the enhanced damage of the deadly poison but with triple the duration, like normal poison. It's by far the best infusion if you use it as a secondary weapon and the low weight supports this, because you can get the poison to apply and then use another, higher raw damage or bleed weapon.
You are by far very wrong as poison infusing is worse than no infusion. The whole point of the deadly posion is that it is only 30 seconds and it ends quickly so it can be reapplied and you get the poison buffs regularly. The poison infusion increases this time which hurts the damage bcos less buffs
I did a quality build that centered around both claws (Blade) and fist weapons (blunt), it worked pretty great and I could switch depending on the enemy type.
I noticed you mentioned the Occult damage for the first 3 claws, but not the Raptor Talons . I also noted this omission from all the Daggers in last week’s review. 🤷♀️
I'd like to see either a sort of ng plus or all game/end game build of the cold blooded raptor build. That one seemed pretty cool... haha!
The bloodhound claws ended up becoming one of my favorite weapons in the game after I started using them, claws are just a vicious weapon type
Is there a video where you explain damage scaling and your rationale/methods for comparing affinities to each other? Is it just base damage or are you comparing ar with 50s in the main stats or something?
Yes. Please do the shields video, that would be great
Despite confusing description, Raptor Talons does not have increased jump attack damage. I believe the description refers to the charged heavy attack's leap/backflip. Still my favorite claws. The damage is lower but the difference isn't that significant and the unique heavy attack more than makes up for it. Reach is also on pair with the Hookclaws.
Despite the awful stance modifiers on claws, can actually stance break bosses quite easily with the Raptor Talons and Impaling Thrust. The unique advancing charged R2 is insane but can't be chained into itself instead doing a weird backflip, but alternating between that and Impaling Thrust lets you spam fast, high range moves with good stance damage back to back.
Alternatively, you can use Raptor of the Mists and jump into range with a charged R2, then predict a Raptor parry jumping attack, and if the boss whiffs or doesn't swing, the skill animation will reset you to neutral allowing you to do another charged R2 without being forced to backflip.
Also, 0.5% drop chance smithing stone at 4:55.
If you end up doing a viewer build showcase
"The No Retreat Build"
RL150 Hero starting class
Vigor-60
Mind-14
Endurance-40
Strength-80
Base stats for the rest.
Physicks-Spiked Cracked Tear, Opaline HARDtear
Talismans-Axe,Viridian+2,Erdtree+2,Dragoncrest Great shield
Armor-Omensmirk Mask, Banished Knights Armor(altered), Veterans Greaves, Veterans Gauntlets
2H Great Mace(Endure)
Because of the low cost of Endure you will not need blue flasks so you get all 14 healing flasks.
It's a simple and effective build really, use Endure then charge up a heavy then repeat.
If you need to heal there is no reason to back off, just use Endure and drink.
The high amount of stamina that you have will allow you to keep fighting.
Edit- swap out Erdtree Favor +2 with whatever elemental drake Talisman+2 is needed. Like HaliDrake +2 for Elden Beast, Spelldrake+2 for Loretta, etc etc...
Ritual instead if viridian and put mind in some other stat it's wasted there
@@CavernsDev the mind is there so you don't need any FP Flasks. And it's a build focused entirely on trading damage with bosses, ritual would be virtually useless and have to be swapped out, while having more stamina ensures that you can keep swinging.
If it isn't a spellcaster any mind is wasted stats that's a given
I didn't realise its to trade dmg sry lol
On my last playthrough, I wrecked Melania with my claws. Used hoarfrost stomp ash of war to get cold on my Hookclaws and would buff my raptor talon with bloodflame blade. I prefer using different claws in both hands so I can build up bleed and frost, simultaneously. The bloodflame blade enchant both helps bleed faster and also resets frostbite for another build-up.
All kinds of fun status effects with that build.
When you compare the damage with different infusions what is the stat spread you use?
Got a question regarding Royal knight's resolve. Saw a build video a while back, ( jump centric, dual wild twin blades, strength based, with RKR as the ash of war.) It said that all six successive attacks counted as one " hit" for RKR. if that is true, would that apply to the dual hit of the dual wield raptor talons' charged R2? Sorry for the long winded question.
Little fun-fact about me: "Claws Only Run" was how i first time finished Elden Ring. They are not bad, but after watching this video... i lack a LOT in my run.
Venomous fang with blood infusion is actually insane. Absolutely worth a try but the range can be frustrating. Use Determ/RKR and jump attacks too
Have you tried a mixed status claw build where you have something like a bleed claw in one hand, the poison claw in the other, and then buff them with something like cold?
I know you can do a quad status build successfully with rapiers and had the thought to try something similar with claws but never got around to trying it.
On my latest RL1 run, where I also did no summons and no weapon upgrades I beat Elemer that way.
Scorpion's Stinger to proc scarlet rot, then Venomous Fang with poison affinity to proc deadly poison for 90 seconds and then Hookclaws with cold affinity to proc hemorrhage and frostbite.
Putting Chilling mist on a dagger and just have enemies walk in to the cloud will proc frostbite very fast too, which you can then reset by using claws with bloodflame blade instead.
my first playthrough is claw and greatsword, claw to trigger bloodloss, good for big boss like dragons, greatsword for smaller boss initially to stun them, it went smooth in gameplay i tell you
Kinda like the _actual_ bloodhound knights in-game, eh?
Timing is great. But I'm a bit distracted by a Gate of corpses (I think)
6:33 occult is amazing
I am currently doing a claws run now, using the bloodhounds claws halfway through the game and just about to get into the Leyndell Capital.. all I can say is I don't think I have ever felt so much fun with a build and I have about 500 minimum hours in the game
What if instead of dueling the same claw you use two different one in each hand? Could you use one venom claw with say frost and one other claw native bleed and infused with something else to have 4 different damage types?
Thank you for your reply. I see what you are saying with the invaders, but I've had the same results with the other bosses. It would seem to me, if they don't scale to you, in a first play through, rune farming and gaining level 300, you should dominate and yet in my experience that just does not happen. In this play through in keeping my level low purposely I have had a much better outcome and the fights much more competitive than at level 300. I realize I am improving in my play but not to the extent that I would be over bearing. Anyhow, I'll keep plugging away as I don't like to quit, although this game seems to push you in that direction. Lol Thanks again! P.S. The new DLC is supposed to be harder? I don't believe I will be buying that one. :)
im doing a playthrough using the bloodhound claws and i didnt know they were strength scaling so i have all my points in dex. i went & got the claws super early in the platthrough & it may just be the high level enemies im fighting being underleveled but it feels like they have barely any poise & enemies can hit me while im trying to combo
Bloodhound claws buffed with bloodflame blade absolutely SHRED Malenia! Bleed buildup is incredibly fast also low stamina consumption allows a long combos and leaves a plenty of green bar for dodges. And bloodhound step makes her most difficult to avoid attack just a walk in the park.
FIST TIME! I am loving going through the game as a big ol punchy boy!
3:16 hey listen, Flaming Strike does not benefit at all from FTH investment. The projectile's potency only ever scales with STR, no matter the infusion, and the weapon buff adds a flat 90 bonus Fire AR that doesn't benefit from any attribute. Flaming Strike can be useful on any build, but the initial projectile portion of the skill is only strong if you have high STR - it can never benefit from FTH. The only non-unique Skills that produce FTH-scaling Fire damage are Prelate's Charge and Black Flame Tornado.
The speed of status buildup on claws is one of the reasons I want to see daggers get a tiny buff. 😅😭
Can you do a video on some
Unorthodox builds? Something fun and janky and not easy to use. Would love to see something outside the box/meta that doesn’t make the game easy mode
YES! FINALLY!!!!!
What about the katars?
Fist weapon
I also like Blood Venomous Fang.
Do a great bow video
After watching recent Chasethebro and Lost, they can be very strong.
I definitely want to see bows
How can all the weapon types be the best Mr. Fextralife ?
I hope you will reply to this comment. I have been playing Elden Ring for some time now. I have made a number of characters but have never finished the game. I have tried many different builds, but regardless the build I find the game just get's harder and harder. I mean the start of the game should be your clue when you get annihilated right away. I am playing another new character (confessor) and trying my own build for a change. In playing before I was always trying to level up fast and I've found it to be the wrong thing to do. Some say the game doesn't level with you so to speak, but I disagree. Tonight I did two test fights with Invaders. First the one at Volcano Manor and then Patches Invader. First time in both fights I used Godrick's rune and Phyic mix dex and endurance. I'm using the Bloodhounds fang Level 9. In both 1st fights I lost badly, they just kicked my ass, but 2nd fight's, I didn't use the Rune arc or Mix and the results were the other way around. They didn't dominate me and I won against both handily. I started to notice this in the character I played before this one. When I was using the Rune Arc the fights seemed very hard, yet when I didn't use it the fights were more fair so to speak. I believe when you level too high they level with you, when you add your advantages, so do they, as in using summons such as Nephali. It ads hit points to the boss. I have defeated bosses this play through quite easily that destroyed me in earlier playthroughs. I am now ready to head to the capital at level 70 with no rune farming, just strictly playing the game. I am finally having fun. In my other play throughs I have never been under 150 even before the Capital and I have paid for it as the bosses have been very tough, and I believe after this play through so far, leveling to fast and using advantages have been my problem. I believe this game levels with you and offsets the advantage you use with it's own. I would like to know your thoughts on this. I really enjoy your posts and will use your walkthrough when I get to the Mountains as I haven't progressed past that zone yet. I used your walkthrough a couple of times in certain areas and like the way you play. I am playing this character very much like you play in your walkthrough. Thank You for what you do. :)
While Bosses do more have HP if you have summons, their HP does not increase the higher level you go. They have fixed health pools if you're playing solo that increase in Journey 2 and Journey 3, but not dependent on your own character level. It is possible that the NPC invasions increase based on your level, as they likely would if real players invaded you, but I have not tested this thoroughly.
That trailer...
Venomous fang is one of those examples where it's clear that balance isn't Fromsoft's strong suit. Whether by intent or mistake, it's just weird that some types of damage delivery is just setup to be weak.
Venemous Fang is not weak it is arguably the best weapon in elden ring.

It has amazing dps, infuses well with heavy, has deadly poison for frequent poison buffs. Ven Fangs Is the best Claws for sure
And don't try to contradict I know what I'm talking about I'm at least just as informed as fextra
these are the most fun weapons to use imo
So I guess according to fextralife every single weapon class in elden ring is op and the best. Alright
Surprised you didn't just do claws and fist weapons together.
That was fast
I have my blood hookclaws but I can’t put the blood flame incantation on it. Why? :(
Because is "blood". It has to be standart, keen or heavy in order to apply buffs (greases and spells). You can't even go occult.
Now which claw weapon do I want to try first? 🤔 Decisions, decisions...
ive just finished the game with hookclaws, timing
Wolverine Build inc 😂. massive regen and
All thats left is fists, long ranged weapons and torches
Hookclaw feels like Wolverine (Marvel). Sknit!
We'd all like to see the bows, but since they are definitely 100% NOT the best weapon in Elden Ring... y'know, low priority on that one 😅
Claws HAVE (plural). I know you can do it.
Daggers are faster than claws lol.
TIL the Cipher Pata wasn't a claw
Best Build for PvE (Which happens to be claws) :

I wish you'd be a BIT more informative. Ven fangs are the best claw and arguable the best weapon on elden ring. Range and crit rating doesn't matter as much in Pve, and since they are Claws they have an amazing moveset and dps. The best infusion is HEAVY not BLOOD and endure is in fact yes the best aow for this weapon. You can still use bleed boosts by having a softswap rapier with seppuku for buffs and still get poison buffs without sacrificing dmg. As you move into ng+ it is better to use 2 ven fangs instead of pair so you equip the ash of war sacred order to give each claw a 10% boost in dmg. Preferably you get 60 vig 80 str and dump rest into Endurance, using multihit huffs and status buffs. With the correct setup THIS is the best dps build in the game, and if anyone finds a better one PLEASE back up info with dps calcs and not waste our time please 🙏
Raptor claws are better
Lmfao one NO they aren't even though they are good ven fangs poison buffs + dps + softswap seppuku bleed buffs is better and two prove your point that "raptor talons are better"
I don't joke around I know what I'm talking about
@@CavernsDev Raptor Claws are better. Looks better, has true combo. Anything is insane with a million buffs 🤣
You clearly know nothing. "Looks Better" has no impact and true combos are only inpactful in PvP I am talking about PvE. In Pve Venemous Fang is better and if you think otherwise you are just wrong and havent run the dps calculations with the correct defense formula and avg boss negations
Shortest video in elden ring
First
4 minutes dang, got lucky with this Fextralife drop
Talon claws also has a charged heavy-heavy attack true combo, Very deadly if paired with endure to unsuspecting PvP players
In ER PvP you need like 100hours of experience to not fall for these gimmicks there are so many of them.
Awesome that all the classes are going to get a breakdown!
