Hydraulic Fluid to refill the system

I used this video and your prior top off video to repair and replace my lift pump on a 2007 Z4M. I did the relocate to the trunk and it is working well. I appreciate the detailed help! If you had a paypal account linked to video I would send you $100 for all the time and trouble you saved me! Thank you so much!!!
I’m super happy I could help you out with this job. I love being able to help others complete this repair.
Just a suggestion, your bleeding info should be reposted as a short separate video. Nobody has that posted. Great info! Thank you!!!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Great videos on top removal and pump relocation. I have a 2004 Z4 I just purchased about two weeks ago with 78K miles on it. The top was a little slow to open and needed some help. Now the pump runs but the top will not come up. If you give it some help or wait a little longer you can hear the motor come under a load and the top will operate. My guess is the system is low on hydraulic fluid. Of course, I am going to have to remove the top to get to the pump. So, I should probably have the cylinders rebuilt by Cabrio and for sure purchase longer lines and relocate that motor and pump to the trunk.
I will put it in manual mode until I have time to fix the problem. Thanks again, you did a great job for the DIY person.
What a bad design by BMW. I am a retired Aerospace Engineer and would have been shot if I designed something like that.
It definitely sounds like the system is low on fluid. Most likely one or both of the hydraulic lift cylinders are leaking. Rebuilding the cylinders and relocating the pump is the right move!
@@baldmankt I was changing the oil and when I was under the car I found hydraulic fluid leaking from the right side. So I will be getting both cylinders rebuilt when I get the top off.
I appreciate the video and I'm sure others do too. I'm not really that pressed too fix mine though! It's easy to put up manually...but I get it if you're older it could be a hassle to do. Maybe I'll come back to this in the future!
Thanks, if you decide to tackle this job in the future I’ll be here. You can also check it my video on removing the top for service
Great job, thanks! I’m doing mine as soon as it comes out of winter storage here in Ohio!
Thank You. That’s great, Glad you found this helpful!
Good information mate, can get my roof finished properly now this weekend 👍✌🇬🇧
Glad I was able to help get you back in business!!!
videos are great. need more of these
Hello ! Thank you very much for your useful explanations !
I've got a question : where did you found the new sealings washers ?
I can't wait to do the work on my z4. Thank you 😊😊
That hair sweep at 10:23 had me 😂
Gotta get ready for the wind to blow my hair around 😉
Paldies par informaciju…
Thank you for the video, it helped me understand the issue in my Z4.
Do you do this kind of repairs? And if you do, where is your shop located at?
I’m not that good with mechanical stuff and I’m worried to mess things up.
Cheers!
Yes I do the repairs to these. My shop is located in south Florida
excellent job what a pity you are not in puerto rico so you can fix mine!!!!!
Thanks! Don’t tempt me, A Puerto Rico trip sounds nice 🤣
love your two z4 soft top videos - extremely helpful. Do you have a link to the manufacture you purchased your extended driver's side hydraulic line from? Also, did you purchase the hydraulic crush washers separately? I can not find a part number for the 6 crush washers used on the hydraulic lines to pump.
These guys can get you squared away 👊cabriolethydraulics.com/
Is there a way to make a hole from the bottom of the car and remove and replace without removing the top?
Thanks, very helpful
Glad to hear!
Do you have any part numbers for the parts you bought or maybe some links.
I just looked at a 2003 Z4 for sale and tried putting the top down manually. I could not get the window down past the center back of the seats to lay it down. What's the issue, possibly?
The owner doesn't seem to know much about the car.
@@rustynailsxxx1 Make sure the tray in the trunk is in the lowered position and the hydraulic release cable is pulled to open the top manually.
Good
My motor was working and whining but was weak. However, when i took the motor and relocated it, the motor is not working. When pressed the light is turned on but no sound is coming out of the motor and wiring is not turning. What should I check?
I would check the micro switch against the back wall of the trunk that is activated when the luggage compartment lid is lowered
@@baldmankt yes sir. that was it! it was the micro switch wasn't pressed bc i took it out the shelves to relocate the motor into my trunk
My motor is working and no sign of water intrusion. however the top does not go down. could it be low on hydraulic fluids or bad hydraulic cylinders? I see that feel the oil in the drain but it is not continuously dripping on the driver side. Could the hydraulic cylinders be save without having to get it rebuilt? maybe a little bit of hydraulic stop leak treatment if i add oil and noticed a bigger leak? TIA.
@@SilentBangHD I would recommend having the cylinders rebuilt, I have never tried any stop leak.
Top down time🤗
Where do you order this from the extension kit
cabriolethydraulics.com/ is where I have the cylinders rebuilt and the extended lines come from.
What extra lines did you use and how much?
The new extended driver’s side lines I used were made by and purchased from cabrio hydraulics. I don’t remember the price, you would need to contact them for current pricing.

Where’s your location
Hey Man… I’m about to buy a Z4 and it has this issue with the roof top. I’m from Florida, and it’s very difficult for me to do the repairs because of my job and time. There’s a way we can communicate, get an address..?? to bring the car to your shop to get it fix…!!!
