    Great video, but the cars are many not comparable as SUVs: Audi with ground clearance varying between 17cm and 25 cm (air suspension), but EQC has only 14 cm making it challenging on bad or snowy roads.

    Kris we need a proper race EQC vs E-tron🙏. Both are amazing cars but if I could afford any of them I will go for the EQC. IMO it looks much better both inside and outside, has slightly better range in the real world (see NAF summer & winter tests in Norway) and is 10%-15% cheaper than the equivalent E-tron. Charging speed is not a big deal when the majority of the charging stations in Europe and here in Norway are still 50kw and at that speed both cars charge at the same speed...

      Perfect example of how close both cars are. I test drove both and it came down to looks for me. Cannot see past the massive black plastic "tache" beneath the grill on the Merc and the interior didn't appeal to me (though steering wheel felt nicer). Just waiting on my E-tron delivery date being confirmed!! 😝

      In the NAF winter test the e-tron 55 actually had better range than the EQC, 341 vs. 307 km. www.naf.no/elbil/aktuelt/elbiltest/rekkeviddetest-vinter-2020/
      In the summer test, the result was opposite, 400 vs. 434 km. respectively. Although the e-tron was fitted with 21-inch 265 wide wheels front and rear (square setup). The EQC has 235 wide front and 255 rear (staggered setup) no matter the wheel size. You can click on the cars in link below to see an actual image of the cars. (Check out the wheels the Taycan! 🤦‍♂️) www.naf.no/elbil/aktuelt/elbiltest/rekkeviddetest-vinter-2020/ The EQC also took off from the test route in the end, and continued past Oppdal, with tail wind, while the e-tron stopped in Folldal at a much higher elevation.
      Anyways, 🙂 I think the range is pretty similar in real life, with 19 or 20 inch wheels. The difference is the charging.. Kris’ conclusion here is pretty good. One could also mention the limited ground clearance of the EQC, but it’s undoubtedly is a great choice for many people. 👍 I especially like the way you can switch between regen levels and predictive regen. And the “AR” navigation looks cool.

    Hi Kris. Ifi am correct the EQC has air suspension on the rear. I agree about the cabin, the E Tron has that open cavernous hole in the centre console. Reviewing cars is very subjective, and can be confusing when I see other reviews on the EQC other reviewers say the EQC is more silent than the E Tron due to all the sound proofing under all the panels. It’s best to drive each model and judge for ourselves. Thanks for the review.

    I got the etron 50. That means that I can't match the range of EQC. But I have a car that charges faster. I have a car with gadgets that is not available on the EQC. Like night vision and virtual side mirrors. And I paid less money for the car. So the best buy is actually the etron 50. And I also think the exterior of the etron looks a lot better than the EQC.

    Like both cars. E-Tron leasing rates are damn cheap in Germany whereas the EQV remains expensive when you want to lease it although E-Tron is more expensive when comparing list prices. I personally found the EQC to be the better drive as the E-Tron feels very very massive. Also I liked the human-car-interface (the operation) of the EQC more intuitive and easy. Other than that I believe both cars are great with the E-Tron being slightly more thursty but has the better charging curve. So, I guess it is down to individual taste...

    First time I hear anyone say the e-tron is quieter than the EQC. It certainly is NOT. In the e-tron you can clearly hear winding noise from the motor and generator at low speeds. In the EQC you hear nothing. This is a topic in several EV forums. Just search for it.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  Před 3 lety +3

      There is a first time for everything! The E-Tron has a fake "engine" sound at low speeds, so its not the actual motors you are hearing. Tests where people claim the EQC is quieter has been done where these cars are on different tires (Conti on the Mercedes and Nokian or Bridgestone on the E-Tron). I have driven both extensively on the same roads (3000km in the EQC and 20000km in the E-Tron). And the E-Tron does have a hair more tires noise (again, different tires) but the E-QC has more wind noise. The EQC I had was on Contis and my E-Tron on Nokians, again I have seen no test where these cars are measured and compared with the same tires. I´ve also had a Polestar 2 for a few days now that was on Contis and was quieter than the Polestar I had last year that was on Michelins. It was also quieter than the XC40 I had a month back that was on Nokians. IMO its pretty conclusive that the Contis are quieter than any other tire, and the difference in tires noise between the E-Tron and EQC is because of this. I would be happy to do scientific test if anybody wants to loan me an EQC on Nokians so I can do a side by side comparison 😊

    • @olesalomonsen6575
      @olesalomonsen6575 Před 3 lety

      @@KrisRifa got nothing to do with tires or fake engine sounds. It's a clear winding noise, particularly from braking/generators. Tried 2 etrons with different tires (50 and 55) extensively lately, because I really wanted that car. But the electronic "noise" is audible at low speeds. You might be able to live with it. But it's there. In the EQC, there is nothing. The E-tron has it's clear advantages over the EQC, low cabin noise is not one of them. Please try to hide your emotions and love for the Audi if you wanna be perceived as impartial.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  Před 3 lety +2

      @@olesalomonsen6575 The fake "engine" sound works with acceleration and breaking, so that is the sound you are referring to. I can absolutely understand if you don´t like that sound, and it would be nice if you could turn it off. But we have to separate tires noise, wind noise and fake noise.
      I´m trying to be as objective as possible, therefore I am referring to thousands of kilometers of testing that I have documented with video. I´ve also worked with tires for four years, so I do know a thing or two about them as well. Tires are the number one culprit of variations in tires noise, and is therefore an important factor. From what I can find online the Hakka R3s (which is the standard winter tire on E-Trons) are around 1-2db louder than a comparable Conti Vikting Contact 7s (which are standard on the EQC). Since you don´t even mention tires I´m assuming you didn´t check. The E-tron also comes with bigger and wider wheels, if this was the case in the cars you tested this will also enhance the noises made by the R3s.
      The R3s also seem to have this humming or resonance on specific types of pavements around Norway that I have not experienced with other tires. Me and Bjørn Nyland have also talked a lot about the R3s making these strange sounds.
      Me mentioning in my argument other cars than these two, goes to show that I am actually try to be as objective about this and your comment of putting my emotions aside therefor makes no sense. Therefor I stand firmly with my assessment about the tire noise difference in the EQC and E-Tron being down to the tires and not the actual cars.
      When it comes to wind noise there is no doubt that the E-Tron has less of it. The EQC has wind noise of the front wing mirrors at 110kph + where the E-Tron dosen´t have this before you are at much higher speeds.
      Again, if anybody has an EQC on Nokian Hakkapelitta R3s I would be more than happy to test them side by side. Again, that goes to show that I am being as objective as possible and emotions have nothing to do with anyting.
