Based on a popular comic series serialized on monthly manga magazine Afternoon (published by Kodansha) since June 2017 and has currently been collected up to 15 volumes as of November 2023. It has later been adapted into TV anime series.
Yatora is a good-looking high school sophomore with excellent grades and lots of friends. It's an effortless performance, and, ultimately a dull one.
One day in response to a school art assignment entitled "My Favorite Landscape", Yatora draws a painting of a quiet early morning of the Shibuya city which looked "blue" to him. Through his painting Yatora feels he can express his true self for the first time.
Compelled and consumed, he dives in headfirst into a world of Art, and is determined to enter the most difficult university in Japan to get into - Tokyo University of the Arts.
Soon he is confronted with talented rivals and a huge wall where "art" has no correct answer…
Yatora is about to learn how savage and unforgiving art can be.

When live action actually seems like it would work
It could work if they stop treating it like an anime and give them normal hair and not some cosplay wigs. This anime is grounded and do not need exaggerated anime effects, it will just turn up cringe. Just make a realistic series about art college.
@@ArtSawce I think that's a reason why Alice in borderland was so great, (with the exception of chishiya's crusty wig) when I first watched it I didn't even know it was a live action anime, whereas in things like this or full metal alchemist or bleach etc I can definitely tell
@@jqeyomg I couldn't get past that wig 😭! Anytime he came on screen I couldn't take him serious which was funnier bc he was the “serious/smart” character lol. Still one of my favorite live actions though Fs.

This could actually work. Considering it's slice of life and the main theme is hard work , purpose and of course, ART.
WB Japan is making better films than WB US.
Ok so they looked at the anime which speed ran content and said we adapt all of it in one movie. With that said the style the movie has is way better than what they did in the anime. Like the vibe i get from this is well, it is rushed the moments will hit hard. I just hope they give all the big onces to us. I'm excited to watch this some day when I can since blue period is my favorite series ever. Like it's OK if it's not a perfect adaption as long as the main moments, vibe and key thems are there we are all good.

Blue period just moved me to my core. and no other industry even had a chance at actually making this work..I'm so excited for this .. the trailer looks like I actually just screen phased into the anime screen or aomething.. I felt like i was looking at the actual chracters..the casting looks perfect... woow..just wow..

Honestly Japan has a tendency to try and make characters look like anime characters even in grounded stories like this. I think it would work better if they looked like real people then it would just be a great drama instead of a goofy aesthetic with a great story
