He talks like my dad less the British accent. My dad was an alcoholic and talked like this. Sadly my dad died from complications from it. So happy John survived and is thriving!!!
This thing with John had to do with Amanda. It all got worse with the substances when that woman came into his life and he married her. I am so happy he found a better woman Gela and that he got clean and sober. It's so wonderful to see him happy the last more than 20 years! He deserves good things! He's such a good person!!!
In this period he didn't meet Amanda yet. But I agree on what you said about her. They weren't good match.. At least that all divorce thing made John to make a decision about going to rehab finally. And it changed his life.
@@MsLylals It was your right. But I do think his out of control drinking and drugging got worse when he met her. But thanks for acknowledging that she and him weren't a good match. His wife now Gela seems so totally 180 degrees different from Amanda. I feel so happy he found the right person.

Yes they enabled each other once they got into a relationship, but their issues existed prior to meeting one another (not to mention how during this era they hadn’t even met yet). Yes, 19 is still a teenager despite the legal adult status. And John and her were both considered adults in Britain when they got together. And he did take responsibility for his actions when he was addicted all those years and the other things he was involved in. In fact he felt lonely and bad about himself and that's the same time he met Amanda. According to Amanda they met in 1989 the same year as this interview. Amanda never supported him in his sobriety. When he went to rehab there was a thing they do with the addicted person's family coming to the rehab to join him for therapy. She came for a little while and once they started the therapy session she left. She wanted no part in it! She was too busy trying to use his notoriety to get into acting in America. She even admitted in her book that she was glad they broke up so she doesn't have to listen to his or Duran's music. And that's shows you she was just using him because music is his life since he was 17. Why else was she with him then?And by the way in April you will find out more about Amanda who never takes responsibility for anything she did or has done including a bombshell coming in the next few months! You will find that she is not such a great person. She's a fake, a fraud and helped in hoax to ruin another famous man's life in order to help her female friend with a hoax.

Thanks for posting this. I've heard few interviews from this time. It is a bit hard to hear with all the background noise and that, can't hear the questions unfortunately, but still appreciated. Love the Do You Believe in Shame video. Weird to hear John use the F word! So sad they went out of favour, it must have been hard on them. I love side 2 of Big Thing.
Wow! This video is sad to look at. John must have really been doing his drug/drinking habit a lot. He looks so pale and thin...almost like he's a ghost or vampire. I'm so glad he got sober and back on track. He seems very happy and content with life now. Still love him!
I wonder how his parents felt at the time seeing him in this bad shape health wise- so pale and thin to the verge of anorexia but I mostly wonder what JOHN thinks about himself when he sees these videos of him, if he ever does or did. I think I once read somewhere that he doesn't watch YOU TUBE but it would be interesting to know what his thoughts are.... At any rate, he is clean & sober and very happy with the wifey. I think they are going for that look that time during the big thing album. Very edgy and very strong presence simon with long curly hair like the one robert plant is sporting and John and Nick with the mushroom haircut which was very famous here in the Philippines that time. Every male is sporting that mushroom haircut we call it the Kempee haircut.

@@resa.walters Yes. He realized he had a problem and went to rehab for 30 days. Hasn't drank/done drugs ever since. He eventually did 4 solo records and acted in movies. He returned a few years later with a DD reunion and also got remarried. He's been sober more than 20 years!
