    One note or suggestion: I would encourage users to know that DCS or CTCSS tones do not provide any privacy. Anyone who is on the same channel will still hear you. What they ultimately do is filter-out anyone NOT using the feature. HAM users and Scanners can detect the tones you're using in seconds (it's actually ms) and be listening while you may believe you have some form of privacy. Always assume that you can be heard anywhere at any time and never use it illegally or in a SHTF situation to give-out too much information for what you are or what you have.

    Thanks for making this....just a pointer for you....when teaching how to use such things its paramount to speak SLOWLY AND CLEARLY......ALSO, ITS IMPORTANT TO REPEAT EVERYTHING SLOWLY...PRONOUNCE YOUR WORDS CLEARLY AND SLOWLY TO GIVE THE STUDENT TIME TO ABSORB THE TECHNICAL INFORMATION. I MAJORED IN BIOCHEMISTRY AND ALWAYS LOVED THE PROFESSORS WHO SPOKE SLOWLY AND CLEARLY....PRONOUNCING WORDS SLOWLY AND REPEATING THE INFORMATION TO GET THE TECHNICAL INFORMATION INTO THE LONG TERM MEMORY. 😊 TYVM

      And if you’re going to make a video about programming the radio don’t have it already programmed. You should’ve deleted and started from scratch for us.

    Great video. Thank you. Just one tip. First, you need to delete the previous channel to add another frequency on the same channel. You can't just overwrite it. I just spent over one hour figuring out what I am doing wrong during saving new frequencies to a channel.

    I measured the UV9R+ which is supposed to be 18Watt. It's really 3 Watt in VHF mode and 8Watt in UHF. So it's roughly half what they claim which is usually the case with these things. I tried programming it with Chirp but it didn't work. Maybe they've updated Chirp now so that now it will work but I don't know about that.

    • @TomRolfson
      @TomRolfson Před rokem +1

      It's no further or less than without. In fact, do not be mistaken that it provides any privacy. HAMs or people with quality scanners can actually detect the tones in a matter of seconds and be able to listen to your conversation without you knowing it's been captured and used to access. For general purposes, always assume someone can hear what you say.
