Queen St. West from University to Bathurst was a 'bohemian treat' in the early 80s. Places, businesses and people not found outside of downtown Toronto at the time. A place for its time that seemed to provide endless possibilities for free creativity. The gentrification further west on Queen St. began in-earnest in the early 90s which relatively revitalized a former derelict part of lower western Toronto. Did you know there once was a Queen St. Subway built? The tunnel is still there.
artists and outcasts first, then the rest follow, and the originators have to move somewhere else bc they cant afford nor want to stay in the neighborhood they made cool.
