- Cajun music (French: Musique cadienne), is an emblematic music of Louisiana played by the Cajuns, and is rooted in the ballads of the French-speaking Acadians of Canada. Cajun music is often mentioned in tandem with the Creole-based zydeco music. Both are from southwest Louisiana and share French and African origins.

The first song in this video is my favorite. Its very cheerful and made me smile.
I just learned about this style of music today in 2024 …. I have no attachment to it , but reading the comments , it’s so nice to see this was a part of people’s lives . This to me sounds like something from TV…. I love Louisiana Culture
I lived in Lousiana for five years and lived in NOLA and spend some good time in Houma. The Cajun people are wonderful, kind hearted and authentic souls. And the food and music are amazing.
Isnt it fun to just discover a whole new genre of music? And to think its 100% American and 100% Louisiana.
I havent had a big musical awakening in awhile. I need to keep my ears open because im ready for something new :)
You need to plan a trip to Cajun country...
I suggest you start with Lafayette, Louisiana.
Plenty of good food and good music - you can't possibly go wrong.
Vive la Louisiane, vive le cajun, vive le Bayou.
From a french cousin.
You will be always our cousin people from Louisiana 🇫🇷🤝🇺🇸
We don’t forget you friends.
God speed 🙏
My feet start dancing to the Cajum rhythm all by themselves. I have to be careful, otherwise I'll dance from Germany to the swamps of Louisiana. Cajun rulez!
I’m Cajun and from south Louisiana
Same, i moved to the north, i miss Louisiana so much, i grew up hearing this music all the time. Don't get me started on how we'd rock this at the crawfish boils as loud as possible!
Accordion, banjo, fiddle, guitar, harmonica, what else could you want?
Washboard 😉☺
@@victorymansions *Warshboard
Bass fiddle
Don't forget the all important
Triangle.
Mandolin and some spoons.
I can smell the crawfish boiling right now... I'll be there !!!! Someone remember to bring the beignets
Yes plz! I miss my home state.
Oh gosh i miss my beloved Zydeco music while eating crawfish at the boils in Louisiana( It's how i found out i'm allergic to shellfish but that hasn't stopped me from eating it). I'm a Creole from Southwest Louisiana.
I'm from southeast Louisiana where we speak French and play the accordion. Fais do do
Bonjour de Nouvelle Orleans voisine
I’m from NOLA and although I now live in San Diego, I always miss and love these special sounds unique to my home state. There’s always a reason to celebrate life in Louisiana, I’ll always love my roots and upbringing there.⚜️🖤💛
Gator by the Bay zydeco festival coming up Mothers Day weekend
theres always a reason to celebrate life, regardless of where youre at
Coo Yah ! musique de Louisiane . Merci ! Bonjour de Louisiane amis partout .
Today in 1955 Elvis Presley did a show at Lake Ponchartrain Beach with Jim Reeves and others 🎶 🎤
I reside in Australia and visited New Orleans 1995 where I first heard this music that brought such joy to my life. It celebrates life as the joyous celebration it was meant to be, plus New Orleans and it's people, just the tops - loved everything about the people, the place and of course the music. Thankyou.💕💕💕
I'm listening to this style of music for the first time and I've immediately fallen in love with it. 😎 cool!!
Je pense a vous ! un grand merci de France Toulouse
Ethnic music is always beautiful and full of life.
With love from Siberia , we have many ethnic culture hear.
This music is absolutely awesome! Full of spirit!
Will always remember the years I lived in New Orleans and a few other spots in SE Louisiana. It’s a place like no other with people like nowhere else. Still tugs at my heart five years after leaving even though I’m now in NYC which has the same effect. It’s like being in love with two women at once equally
Visiting New Orleans is on my bucket list!
Hi can you please tell me the best old town jazz bars around swampy areas around all the mystical parts are there any old time jazz bars near there?
@@stargirl6992 you won't find much live jazz out in the bayou. Zydeco is alot more common such as in this video.
LA cajun music always makes my days better! I always play it when cookin cajun just like I play happy mariachi music when makin tamales.
Spent 30 years at Kessler AFB, Mississippi over 1/2 a summer. Got lots of Cajun music, good eats off base, and a trip or two New Orleans. Avoid the hookers and stay in a group and you could stay safe. Back before sun screen, hearing protection, and "Red" heat days. Wonder we survived!
I was AF 86-92 CES
Music 🎵🎶🎵🎶 just doesn't get much better! 👍
This music always puts me in a good mood. Just cant sit still!!!!!!!!!!!!
Le zydeco donne toujours envie de bouger son derrière et de danser.

Buckwheat zydeco 👑
🤙🤙🤙
i was introduced to this genre in san diego(1995 - 6) where the blues musicians butcher it so..then i went to nola and LOVED it more. such a happy genre.
I live in the Mountains of North East Tennessee and have a love for music and culture and this is me through and through. Great music and I love the food too.
Listening, and I am suddenly very extremely happy! LOL
So joyous and celebratory. Happy and uplifting tunes. Accordion, fiddle, banjo, guitar, upright bass, trombone, harmonica, snare drum, tuba... happy, happy, happy. I'm here listening to Conan O'brien's podcast saying he got his band for the show based on them playing a Cajun style tune. It fits his playful personality. I didn't know what Cajun was and typed it into youtube and this came up. Awesome! It's like a celebration of the simple pleasures in life but in a positive way. Food, drink, dance, song, friendship, musical joy. There's not a hint of angst or darkness in it at all. Great for the soul.
THANK YOU ALL, FOR BRINGING ME BACK TO MY ROOTS, LOVE MUSIC, LOVE ALL, PLAYING IT, LOVE DANCING TO IT, LOVE THE FOODS, LOVE THE SMILES, LOVE IT ALL, THANK YOU ALL, FOR EVERYTHING, YOU DO SO WELL, MISS THE FISHING, MISS THE PEOPLE, MISS, ALL, WANT TO COME BAKE, BUT STUCK
Same, i miss boudain!!! The northeast has no good cajun/creole food. I miss jazz, zydeco, crawfish boils, small town mardi gras that isn't centered around tourism, i miss it all.
Love this music. This music is absolutely awesome ! Great music, great sound...from Chicago, Illinois. This is incredibly inspiring....
Thanks for listening
I love this type of music.
Almost like going to church.❤️
It's physically impossible NOT to tap your foot.
After seeing Rockin' Dopsie, Jr. perform in New Orleans on New Year's Eve in 1995, I have really loved this music. Thanks for sharing it.

Love this music!
It's a bucket list trip to go to Louisiana and travel all over the state just to eat the food. And see the scenery as well.
Seeing the food on this video is making me hungry lol
Me as well!!!
Go! For sure
Bienvenue en Louisiane .
I ate the food for 39 years, thanks to my Grandma Inez. Butter, salt, garlic, bacon grease and hot sauce make everything taste good and must be good for you, because she lived to 103! I was fortunate to have her write all of her recipes down for me while she still could. I've managed to perfect the red beans and rice, so far...
You have to stop in Central Grocery on Decatur St. and get a muffaletta! I do every time I go to the French Quarter. Luckily, I only live about an hour and a half away:).
Thanks for sharing . Your Beautiful music . And playing of the instruments . I love Cajun music .
Superbe ! cette vidéo et la musique est extra !! Grand merci de France (gironde-médoc)🗼
thank you
Great Music and photography! I found this looking for music to accompany my first attempt at red beans and rice.
The ancestors used to say when God made Louisiana He must have been here .
It took years, but I finally perfected Grandma Inez's red beans and rice. I used to love when she listened to Dr. John.
There are times where I miss New Orleans, but I don't think I'll ever live there again.
My kind of music!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I'm getting to be an old (or older) lady now and my knees and hips don't work, but after I get some physical therapy and maybe a knee replacement I plan to come down there and dance the zydeco. haha
Went to a zydeco festival when I first moved to Louisiana. It wasn't till I was drunk did I start to enjoy the music.
Are you ded set old mate ?
I loved the picture of the blue and white herons standing next to one another. The music's not bad, either.
Great sound
Tout va bien !
Breath of fresh air! Thx
Their is also drums, base, washboard, occasionally piano in zydeco
Zydeco Piano Party is a bop.
correct the difference btw Zydeco and Cajun music is some of the instruments
Just what I needed! Thank you!
That really helped
Beautiful photography, GREAT MUSIC. THANKS.
Please keep making these videos with uplifting music and moving pictures/images. Everything I find with moving pictures has super relaxing music that's not suitable for my work environment. I've been searching a lot for videos like this with uplifting happy music. Good job. 👍👍

I'm planning a sweet sixteen for my daughter. It's princess and the frog. I want a band to play this beautiful music. I also plan to incorporate the food as well any suggestions? I have gumbo, beignets, fried chicken. Am I missing anything?

No music moves me like Cajun . And im not even a Cajun .
But zydeco isn't cajun music. I don't know what kind of propaganda is going on here.
I’m a midwesterner w/ classical, rock and jazz background. I want to play this music live w/ Cajuns on a pedal steel- or guitar- but l’d really love to play the native instruments. I’m so attracted to this music/ especially live and improvised
I must know what song and artist starts at 15:38 in the video. Please someone tell me!
