I absolutely adore Elaine! Her excitement is always contagious!
Teresa has been amazing getting me on the Podcast Cruise. First Disney Cruise and pre-cruise stay at AKV as new member of DVC. Doesn't get any better!
Yes, yes, yes! Love Castaway Cay! Like Craig said the greatest thing to do is Snorkeling. Love the Snorkeling Lagoon! Now a special tip is the reminder that the Snorkling Lagoon has TWO entrances and is basically a Horseshoe Shape around the "Swiming Lagoon". There is one entrance on the ship side of the beach near Gil's Fins and Boats and then on the other side of the beach near Head's Up Bar there is another entrance. Next time we go, I am buying a GoPro to record all the fish.
The island was called Gordo Cay, the movie American Made with Tom Cruise tells the story of how the island was used
Agree about serenity bay. We just had our first cruise and we left serenity quickly. The sand is not the same at all.
Our experience at serenity bay was great; we chilled, had drinks, enjoyed the bbq (the steak wasn’t that awesome) but being a person of size, the picnic tables were hard to sit at. The food was delicious and the peace and quiet was phenomenal
Great show and Great shirt Pete!
As much as i learn from you guys i.wish one of you had kids and could get their perspectives on it all... were planing a cruise with our son who will be turning 6 on the cruise and i have so many questions still
I loved the snorkeling! Our family almost missed lunch! LOL.
I was watching this and didn’t know about your Dream Cruise company. I wished that we would of know we probably would have used that resource. We already booked a cruise with Disney on the Wish for September. So we’ll have to look into your company the next time. Thanks for sharing so much good info.
Thanks.
My only issue castawat cay was the Extreme getaway package. Only due to lack of research on my partm. Great value for scuba fanstics
WHY are there never any prices on the website for: the spa services, cabanas or anything not included in the cruise price? 🤔🤔
Good stuff Pete. Elaine is my rockstar agent.
I'm surprised that nobody recommended Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure. One of my favorite attractions on CC.
Concierge is now 130 days to book cabanas.
I sure wish y’all worked with Royal Caribbean. I would love to book with your company. I can go on three Royal cruises for the price of one Disney.
We do work with Royal Caribbean - www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/dcruise/#royal
heading on the podcast cruise with you all. How about doing a video on special diet meals on DCL. Example, Keto on Disney? I make my own keto cheesecake, keto yogurt almond cake, etc. I wonder if there's keto dishes on DCL?
I wish there was more coverage on the teen beach. I really don't see it on youtube videos, etc. So will my child receive his lunch at his teen beach section? Or does he need to go to the family beach cafteria for lunch and then walk back to teen beach?
Love your content, but I don't believe this is one of your better ones. This seemed like a Castaway Cay refresher by those who have been there many times as opposed to Castaway Cay 101 for those who are thinking of going for the first time. I learned a couple of things but nowhere near as much as I would have liked to. Sometimes I think you have to have an actual agenda thought out in advance. I also agree with the idea of having parents of younger kids on the panel so that we could find out more of what to do with families.
Again, love your content. This just was not one of your best.
What about the post office? Is it still open for guests and do they still need cash only to mail from there?
I cruised in October of last year and February and March of this year and it has not been open. You can still drop pre-stamped mail in the outside box though. I believe it had to be stamped with a Bahamian stamp too.
Do you have to run the 5K or can you walk? Is there something you have to do so they know you have done it or is it simply the honor system?
You can walk, no problem with that!
It’s done on the honor system. There used to be an official 5K but with covid, you complete it at your own pace and can pick up your medal once back on board for free 🙂
Sounds like you all call it castaway key but it is spelled cay, are you positive it should be pronounced that way?
On average, how much can the TOTAL cost of souvenirs be for a 7 day cruise? 🤔🤔
I bought 3 T-shirts, a water bottle on Castaway Cay, 2 pins, and a pair of ears during my 7 day and it was about $150. It just depends on how much you want to buy.
Can you walk the 5K or do you really have to be a runner?
Walk or run is your choice😋
Do you have to sign up beforehand?
Not a this moment. Motu let them know at the front desk that you are going to do it on your own and they let you know where to collect your medal at the end.
Motu-you🏎😂😂
Pete has lost weight... Get it
650 is what we paid for the cabana in2022
Wasn't the island previously owned by Pablo Escobar? I had heard that it was his island for drug smuggling and that Disney's new island has a similar history lol
I am an avid Dis Unplugged watcher and in general I love your content but I did not find this video helpful at all. We are going on our first Disney cruise in September and doing a double dip itinerary so I need Castaway tips and info. All I got from this video was “rent a cabana” which is 1) out of my price range and 2) basically impossible since this is our first cruise. We need the perspective of someone who actually enjoys going to the beach and doing beach activities, who has tried many of the different activities on Castaway, preferably with kids, and can make recommendations. Like I said, in general I love your content, but this particular video was disappointing.
I don't believe the drug runners built the runway --- besides the fact that it looks like a real runway and criminals wouldn't go to that much effort --- I've read it was an Army Air base during WWII.
