M, I agree. Colton has said more than once that he's a people pleaser, I am glad he realized that in himself. Hopefully he will take the break and reflect on what he really wants in a partner.
They didn't know who the fan favorites really were by then, since the Bachelorette had only been on for about 3/4 weeks at that point.
What I want to know is why they didn't pick Jason? He was obviously the favorite. I just hope the show doesn't fall too far off from the romance of it all, because it does work...

My thoughts on Colton? ...I have too many feelings to share lol But I will say, the "sudden" break up exit I don't think was sudden at all. Green lights were given and Colton had to start paperwork process of being announced as Bachelor in two months, is my theory.
And Tia. Oh, Tia. Lovesick, naive Tia. He was never fully into her. And, I'm sorry, but a little weird that they STILL text almost daily...Hmm...She'll definitely be making at least some sort of an appearance on his season.
I get that he's "Golden Boy" status for a new Bachelor but he's so tainted now by many immature actions, I personally just have no interest in seeing him juggle (poorly) 30 woman.
I think there are better options for the bachelor, however, Tia affected his time in the bachelorette and pretty much made it impossible for him to explore new people in paradise. He was a good guy for trying with her. I don't think that he's not ready for a relationship I just think he is not ready to be with Tia. He's just not that into her!

This is what I was thinking, watching Paradise. He didn't want to hurt her feelings, but he knew that he wouldn't meet anyone as long as she was there. He didn't get a fair chance to try to find love, or on the Bachelorette for that matter. Maybe he will get a chance this time around.
Colton is seriously not ready
Not a fan of Colton being bachelor; I wanted Jason so badly! 😍😍😍 but major issue I had w Annalise was she has a traumatic bumper car experience where the kids bullied her and then- fine, I understand telling Shu to back away- but she seriously did not need to tell her she’s a witch. It was just unnecessary and she seemed a little too excited to be a bully.
Not watching Colton. 🙄seriously anyone would have been better, his story has already played out.
A part of me felt Annalise was sort of desperate. But I love Jordan and Jenna they're going to do great with their son Tucker!!!!
I'm already dreading the girls meeting Colton for the first time and making jokes about his virginity. Please don't make that main focus of the show.

OMG love this show! Look forward to it every week! Honestly kinda disappointed its Colton- I would have preferred Jason!! But love this season of Paradise- really hope all the couples work out. (Especially Kendall and Joe and Jordan and Jenna. Love them and Joe and Jordan are the best!
Hate Colton as the Bachelor....soooo disappointed. And my prediction for someone getting engaged is Jordan and Jenna. He is one smitten kitten. I don't think it will work out long term. But I think he will propose!!

Shaddyyyyyy Colton should not be the bachelor. Watched his interview and I want to 🤮. He figured himself out so he is ready now ???!!!! He did a Hot Dog date in Paradise for crying out loud . That’s suppose to be giving it all WTH. First time I will not be watching this season . I think Jason was a better pick since he can actually have an intelectual conversation. Would have been nice to see a grown man who is ready for marriage to find his person.
I've never really trusted Colton, don't know why. He just seems like the Josh Murray, Robbie Hayes, Chase McNary type. Fame hungry, no real job, bunch of charity stuff to stay relevant and keep up the instagram following. I doubt he's actually interested in finding a wife.

I’ve been loving this season of the bachelor.. that scene with John was hilarious! I was also disappointed in finding out it’s Colton.. he’s been so wishy washy on every show and who’s to say it hasn’t changed now for the bachelor also? I’m fed up lol
I honestly don't understand why people don't like Colton?? Like first everyone expects him to automatically start a relationship with tia in paradise after they spent like one night together months prior and then when it didn't work out people got mad at him for ending it like would you rather him just lead her on??? people expected colton to automatically be on the same page as tia and when he's not he's a bad person? i just don't get it
all his actions are shady. He dated Tia for a about a month if I recall correctly and they broke up because he got accepted to "the bachelorete". then, when he arrived to paradise he spoke with all the girls before he even said to Tia hello and asked her on a date. I agree that she totally missed out on the signals that he's not entirely in to her, and she should have listened to Raven. but I also think that him breaking up with her is probably after the production team asked him about being the bachelor.

I am excited for Colton to be the bachelor! I think he is a great guy! I believe he gave it a shot with Tia because he knew that’s what she really wanted (she was practically begging him to give it a chance) and he really wanted to see if he could develop deeper feelings, but he couldn’t. However I do worry ab him having a hard time breaking hearts and making decisions as the Bachelor but super excited to see his journey!! Love you guys

I loved how in the previews for next week they just pieced together parts from the men tell all (wills was wearing the same suit) and bachelor winter games. Literally Lesley was in the background and they were very clearly reacting to Benoit proposing to Claire so I don’t really know what to expect for the show next week.
I would love to watch any Bachelor shows with you guys one day to see your reactions as they happen.

My thoughts on Colton being the bachelor is split, I feel like he came from Becca’s season still in love with her to Bachelor in Paradise straight to being the Bachelor...it’s seems kinda fishy to me. I don’t think he’s ready to go through the process because it is tough and I personally don’t think he can handle it

With Colton being the bachelor I have a theory that that was his plan all along. I don't think he went on the bachelorette to find love with Becka I think he tried to do just enough. He tried very hard to portray himself as the all around "good guy" not getting into drama but still having the Tia situation to make sure he got screen time. Then when getting sent home on hometowns I think he realized there was something he had to do to win over peoples hearts over Blake and Jason. So he went to paradise to address the whole Tia situation but I think he really wanted Tia to say that she wasn't interested so he could seem heartbroken again (I can't remember who but someone in the bachelor franchise said that the producers usually pick whoever seemed the most heartbroken). Which could explain why he was so distant in the beginning and actually encouraging Chris and Tia. However when his plans don't go the way he wants them to I think he decides to drag out the relationship with Tia to a point where they're serious enough to be heartbroken but not serious enough to get engaged. So we see Colton heartbroken were supposed to feel bad and hope he gets his second (or third) chance as the bachelor. That being said I might be biased cause day one of the bachelorette I was team Blake for bachelor.

I love Colton being the new Bachelor, I don’t see where Jason is a better fit. I thought he was SO boring on the show. I think Colton gets hate because he got pressured by everyone to be with Tia when he never wanted it to begin with. Tia just awkwardly kept asking everyday to make it happen. I found her incredibly annoying. Plus let’s face it, Colton works with kids in hospitals and loves dogs so how can you be so negative to guy like that.

he's just not ready for a serious relationship. it's not personal against him. and being pressured into a relationship is the way to handle yourself poorly as the bachelor. plus it seems like he's in it for the fame more than for love. and I agree that Tia is annoying. the dood is not in too you, why did you kept pushing?
and Jason is HOT! not boring at all. and I believe Becca when she said that he's the best kisser on the show. Does the bachelor need to be and experienced man or a young boy?
The bachelor franchise is obsessed with virgins. I really hope that's not his storyline. (Or Tia). He is NOT ready for marriage, I feel like he doesn't know what he wants and this is gonna make it worse. Jason was more deserving and mature to be the bachelor. I'm done with them picking the least favorite runner up. NOBODY cared about his drama with Tia in bachelor in paradise and now we're gonna watch him EVERY week? nope Im out. I have to admit myself, I have no desire to watch Coltons hot/cold performance. He is NOT ready for this.
I think it's funny how so many are so mad. When you look at the timeline for BIP I believe they only filmed for two weeks instead of four like normal. That makes the TIa and Colton dating timeframe maybe a week? So, he's honest and says he doesn't think he can get there with Tia. He wants to pursue other options. I feel like everyone bullied him into the relationship with Tia. He's a people pleaser so he tried. After a week he was honest and said he couldn't get there with her. I really don't understand why everyone is so mad at him. Personally I think he was very respectful.
I also think we were blessed with several great choices for bachelor, we don't normally get so blessed. I am a bachelor nation fan and I am going to watch no matter what so I am thankful that Colton was one of my picks.
Last thought. I like Tia but I think it's funny how everyone goes back and forth. BN loved Tia & she was the big pick for Bachelorette until she talked bad about Becha, then everyone turned on her. If people remember, at the end of Becca's season, they were pissed that she did Colton dirty. Then on the first week of BIP, people were pissed at her for forcing the relationship with Colton. Now people see what Colton did as dirty so they are calling for her to be bachelorette again. I am getting dizzy and I am getting tired of Tia.
AK Sonya seriously. I think Tia was in the wrong. She pressed the situation until he had to either leave or be with her. It was awkward.
I had that thought about the timeline. You could tell they were stumbling over “this week, last week, next week” in their interviews because clothing wise it was obvious there was a day or two between filming each episode. Then they would say “that was only last night” about things the show edited to make it look like happened days ago.
I’m all good with that, I just wish people would remember that he went on a date with Tia months ago, it obviously wasn’t a thing for him, he came to Paradise and tried to tell her he wasn’t into it, she made him feel like an awful person for not trying with her, he tried for a few days and then said “yep, that’s what I thought. I don’t like you that way” and left. That doesn’t make him an asshole. It makes him a guy who isn’t into her.
People need to remember that this is a tv show. I view it more as entertainment where possible people will end up together. If you view it so seriously as about Love you’re destined to be disappointed.
Colten makes entertaining tv. I just hope they give him younger women to date. He is not mature enough for a thirty something woman who has dated around and is ready for marriage and babies within a year or two. Just let it be a fun and funny season. Also, he’s too sweet, I know they won’t but I would love it if ABC kept the predatory bitches who are hateful to the other women away. It’s always creepy to watch.

Haha. I wasn't surprised Colton was chosen and I don't think Tia should be the Bachelorette. Something about her I don't like. I feel like Colton was only giving it a chance bc she pushed so hard and they're friends. He was fine on Becca's season and truly cared about Becca. Tia shouldn't have told Becca what she did later that season bc they'd already talked about it and I think it was just selfish of her...
I DO think Jordan and Jenna are going to make it. Lol I guess my opinions are opposite of the Ellen Staff. 🤷♀️

I think there will always be a fan club for Peter. Maybe one day we might be suprised and blessed with him showing backup.
I really think Colton is funny and charismatic so I have high hopes for him. If nothing else, the girls always make a season entertaining.

John didn't care about the breakup Jordan just told him about, John was just surprised he could leave at any time lol. It's too bad Scallop Fingers' time on Paradise was short-lived. Colton is someone the producers probably feel they can easily manipulate. Someone from the show said he's good to work with.

This season of BIP was one of the best. Perhaps I am going a bit deep into the Bachelor vault, but I always would have loved to see Chase (Jojo's season?) as the Bachelor. But I don't follow whether he's currently dating someone.

You guys and this recap are the ONLY reason I will be watching Colton's season. You'll actually make it bareable getting through week after week. I just don't think he's emotionally ready and his breakup with Tia was to supiciously quick. And honestly I don't find him personable enough, IMO. And I really love Jason, so I'm still a little pissed.

Tracy, Andy, Corey - LOVE your show!! Mixed feelings on Colton being the bachelor. I think it will still be a great season and I think he's a good guy. I was on team Blake, would have been fine with Jason too - was shocked when they actually picked Colton. I don't think they'll lose viewers over it though. And Tia for next bachelorette!

I LOVE that Colton is the Bachelor. Quite honestly, I don’t think he did Tia wrong at all. He was honest. Part of what he said to the cameras was that his whole life he did things to please other people, not himself. So, he broke it off with Tia & is now doing something for himself! ❤️
I think one overlooked Krystal/Chris fact is that they both went nuts on their seasons for not getting all the attention from the bachelor/bachelorette. They totally match and I think they are going to get married for sure!

I think the whole Colton and Tia thing was that he had some attraction for her, but then everyone just kept pushing it and telling him to do it so he decided to give it a shot, but then realized that he just didn't like her as much as he wanted to.
I feel like because paradise is so edited, that the hardships between Tia and Colton weren’t shown even though they were happening and then all we see is him breaking up with her causing Colton to look like a jerk

I disagree with the decision of making Colton the Bachalor because he's not emotionallly ready and he doesn't know what he wants in a relationship yet. But, I like that for once they have a virgin on the show, even though it may be a struggle for him in the fantasy suite. In my opinon, Tia should've been the bachalorette because she was hurt my Colton in the past and all of a sudden he dumped/blindsighted her. I think that Tia knows what she wants out of a relationship and will stay exclusive to that person. But, I understand why the producers chose Colton because we all know that he's a wonderful man and deserves happiness with the power to make his own decision choosing his wife. But, no hate for Colton and Tia, I love them both!

I didn't expect Colton as the next Bachelor but I'm not sure why everyone is so against it! He seems like a kind hearted good guy, who is looking for the right woman. I feel like the entire Tia drama from the end of Becca's season through paradise was just a set up to throw bachelor nation off about who would be choosen as the next Bachelor. I don't doubt Colton and Tia had a connection at one point but Tia came off too obsessed and a little crazy in paradise, who wouldn't be turned off by that. I'm excited to watch Colton as the Bachelor!
