I think the Covergirl shades run a little light, I got medium and I am usually a light/medium in most things. Medium worked great.

Penn, I was just wondering why your preference is brown mascara? Is it because it looks more natural? Do you ever wear black mascara? Say like for a more "dressy" event?
I have blonde hair too, & thought of trying out brown mascara, but thought maybe it wouldn't "pop" my eyes as much, but now knowing that's what you use, and your eyes Always look AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!, I think I should give it a try!!!
I actually feel like it pops my eyes more than black- there is some warmth in it and it complements blue (color theory). I think you should try brown!! If you do, I’d try the thrive first bc the elf is pretty subtle (it’s lighter than the thrive).

The Dermatology one rocks. I really does minimize fine lines and I’m 74. Colorsciencecwad just ok and the same concept in Jane Iredale was way too thick. Totally agree about cream foundation. Been wearing Cinema Secrets for 25 years and sometimes RCMA. Both are professional makeup but truly not that expensive AND promise you - full coverage but like a second skin. I purchase at Camera Ready cosmetics or Beautylish.
Im going to try the covergirl... 55 yrs old here, and (because of Penn's fabulous skincare advice) I barely wear makeup and appreciate anything that will zhuzh up my bare skin a little bit. Thanks Penn!

I will have to look at the Elf mascara since it is brown. I recently tried Ulta's brand tubing mascara, they only have black, I really like it! Plus I didn't have the need for an eyelash comb! This is a first for me! The tubes come off in tubes and it didn't cry off, I cried like a baby when my visit with my newborn grandson was over. 😢

The L’Oréal Double Extend beauty tubes mascara is amazing as well at $13 it wears well goes on smoothly and comes off in little tubes 😊

My coworker told me about the drunk elephant and I saw the price and thought I could find something cheaper. I found the Pacifica one and I love it!!! I’m so glad that now you told me the drunk elephant one is orange because I would not have liked it at all. The pacifica one is amazing. Just gives such a gorgeous glow.
I love finally seeing the color science I think it’s called the three in one I treat I have been using it for years and have literally never seen anybody talk about it. It literally lasts forever so the price I think was OK . As you mentioned I have found like you did that it lasts a year but to find a dupe. Oh yay.🥂💃🏼💃🏼

The elf was similar to the thrive but it didn't give me the length an volume like the thrive an it did slightly flake an the end of the day. As we know makeup is personal an our eyes all wear makeup differently! Love the video Pen! Your my favorite 😍

Try Colorscience Bronze. It's beautiful+ SPF 50!
Also, RMS SPF's are gorgeous! Makes your skin look dewy and glow from within. Also, her powder cheek colors (the lightest) are Epherial. Not shiny or sparkly just give a hint of glow and very soft color in the lighter colors. Looks amazing on older skin! Reflects light!
Also, her lip stains and emollient creams are amazing!
I use the uncover too. I use it with her oil underneath or a drop on top in the jar for a tinted moisturizer look or I use it only where I need extra coverage and blend it out, that way can avoid accentuating any wrinkles & creases!
I absolutely love her new product s . I don't need any makeup & I have sun spots puffy and purple eyes and wrinkles!
I just ordered one eye cream to try.
Also, for under eye bags, I put a light peach in the dark parts and trough and pat on. Then I my secret weapon is Seint Demi corrector in Yo1 (these are color correctors in wax , so don't crease or get cakey and reflect light! It's the closest I can get to zero bags which is really saying something & no cakey thick layer of anything that makes your eyes look worse!

Have you ever tried the Bachuchiol retinol alternative? It's very gentle, and most sensitive skin types can easily tolerate it.

The Avene Retinal Balm has that ingredient in it but it is so moisturizing plus maybe the amount is better for me, that I can tolerate it once a week. I have very dry skin and live in the desert, so it's been very difficult. Even with a humidifier! Deserts suck the moisture out of your whole body! I have to drink A LOT of water too. It's very different than the other places I have lived. HA works opposite in the desert 🏜️. I think it was Penny who told me about Beta Glucan which works better.😊

Hi Penn! Your dupes videos are seriously THE best! 😊❤ I use the thrive mascara as well and have used the Milani tubing mascara but it just doesn’t cut it! I like the Heimish mascaras as well that you recommended. I’m excited to try the Elf one! Also, I just got the Drmtlgy corrector and absolutely love it after using that colorscience for years. I agree with you I prefer Drmtlgy for many reasons. I like that the applicator tip is smaller and easier to maneuver around my hollows. The color is spot on and have been using it only for a few days, but know I love it!! I like the tone of the drunk elephant dupe much better as well! Thanks so much for all of this!!😊
At the holidays, Thrive usually sells 4 travel-size mascaras for a great price (can’t remember exactly). I love travel sizes in mascara because you’re supposed to throw mascara out after 3 months due to bacteria build-up.

I'm 56 years old, have been considering cream foundation, and have been looking at Ogee but haven't quite been convinced. I'd like to give your recommended RMS a try, but need a bit of clarification. Your link connects to the concealer on the RMS website. You say it's a concealer/foundation. Is it the concealer that you are actually using? Many many thanks for all your hard work! Hi! Ok so I have the Ogee and it’s nice but it’s a lot more dry than the RMS.
The RMS that I use IS the concealer. Long ago it was just called “uncoverup” and I think they added concealer a while back because they launched other foundations?
Anyway, I love it as foundation - I either use a brush or I place it (lightly) with my fingers then blend it out. It becomes a beautiful dewy foundation

I got the e.l.f. tubing mascara in brown a few weeks ago, and I like it better than the Thrive, because the Thrive flaked on me but the e.l.f. does not. Although, neither works on my invisible lower lashes, even with my favorite lash primer. Also, I discovered the same thing about using a lash comb, especially with tubing mascara or multiple coats of any mascara. Great video!
Just ordered the Drmtlgy Luminous Eye Corrector in Tan. Thanks for the tip about Tan being a good shade for a color corrector! I've only seen people talk about the medium but that would look way too light on my dark circle. I think the tan will be perfect! Ty for all the time + thought you put into these videos!

The Chanel looked so good. The formula of the dupe on your hand looked like a different texture and thicker. Chanel was so smooth and the other looked a bit messy. Great comparisons today. Love the dupe videos!
The Chanel is lighter (less coverage) and they actually both have a different kind of look because the pigment is suspended in a gel/serum. It’s an odd presentation for sure 🩷

The color she uses is 11.5. When you click on her link in the drop down for the products & the page opens up, it shows that color range choice. Tip: Any color that has a .5 means that it has a peachy undertone. I watched some of the videos of the woman who created RMS & she mentions that in one of her videos. Hope that helps.

The cover girl is a great product. Beautiful finish … however my skin hates bachuchiol that they have put in it . I wish makeup companies would stop feeling the need to put skin care in makeup , I have my own skin care and do not need more in my foundation. Every day I wore it my skin felt so tight by end of day and I have combo skin not dry .
Also I found I was going through it so fast , I think it probably would have only lasted me a month . Too bad because it really was pretty.

I totally see what you’re saying, and I agree. We have skincare….i don’t count the bakuchiol as skincare so all it does is serve as a potential irritant for some people (like you) 🤔
I couldn’t use the Avene product with bakuchiol in it either ☹️ it just does not agree with my skin so I wish they would just stick to makeup lol
Also , my other issue is niacinimide in literally everything now … skin care of all kinds and cosmetics as well , my skin hates it and I really have to search ingredients now because it’s in so many products …. So many people love it though , I wish it was soothing to my skin like so many other people but it’s so irritating , and I have tough skin , I use tret and obagi lol yet niacinimide destroys my skin hahaha go figure

I would be interested in knowing if the elf mascara dries out your lashes compared to the thrive… I am trying out the hourglass one and it’s nice but $38 versus seven dollars dang gotta try But I’m worried that it will dry out my lashes as most inexpensive mascara do.
I haven’t noticed it drying my lashes but one thing that is very different than the thrive is that it’s lighter brown. I having tried the black yet.
The hourglass tubing mascara didn’t work for me- not enough volume. Crazy how different things works for different people 😁
I think I speak for most women when I say we love dupes. If you can get a product that preforms well and does the exact same thing for a lower price, then great. Who wants to pay more?

I have very blue eyes as well I've always used black mascara. Does the brown mascara make your eyes pop? Or do you even notice that it's brown. I'm thinking of trying the Elf. Just curious what you think of brown mascara on blue eyes. I think that the brown just makes my blue eyes pop more, it is of course personal preference 😊
Makeup artists do recommend brown for fair-skinned, blue-eyed women. I changed to brown recently, and it looks better. I also use gray eyeliner instead of black. For a night look, I like a blue eyeliner.

Love dupes! Pacifica has some great products and based in Portland! Can’t say these are dupes for anything but I have been using their Glow Baby Vitamin C boost serum. I used to be a strict 20% L-Ascorbic acid fiend. This is stabilized Vitamin C complex and glycolic acid. It has fragrance though it is described as natural (smells like a cream cycle and I love it personally). Also am using their Future Youth Eye and Gravity Rebound serums. Both with multi peptides and very hydrating. Have you tried these?

Thank you for this video! I bought the Drmtlgy Eye Corrector in medium and LOVE it! I can't ever find a corrector that covers well, yet isn't noticeable on my skin. You referred to the RMS product as your foundation, but based on the website photos, it looks like you're holding the concealer. Are you using the concealer as a foundation or is it their foundation? It’s a concealer and foundation 😍
You can use it as a concealer or like I do, over moisturized skin (with SPF) all over. It becomes a cream foundation.
They talk about it in the description of the product but it really can be confusing based on the name! 🩷
