hey, Koji is there romance option in the game for Clive like Jill OR some other character or he remain a virgin during all the game, the story has so much potential yet i fear, i don't care about happy ending or somthing like that but at least the addtion of a romance to Clive add to the story since there is a time skip for the charchters...,
if only there SEX SCENES only for Benedikta with Barnabas and hugo i will be mad...
also why clive able to take the dominant power and what happened to the ekoin,
Bruh, I think you’re expecting a different game
they show Benedikta with Barnabas naked in the trailer, since Jill the only other main female character i assume that she end up with Clive, if the game like the witcher 3 in term of romance WOW it's GOTY for me, the OST and VA are great but since the game is M rate it will be such a waste not to have main love interest for the main character with sex scene like THE WITCHER 3
I didn’t have time to fully edit the part of the video where I talked about this, so I’ll add it here in text:
Clive’s emotional range in this game is incredible, and Ben Starr, the voice actor really over-delivered with this.
He is a big Final Fantasy fan, and you can really feel how much effort he put in portraying our boy here.
Massive kudos!
Kudos also to Clive’s german voice actor, Vincent Fallow, who is a dear friend of mine. Seeing him land this dream role of his, and hearing his work on the demo I played was nothing short of mind-blowing.
Really proud of everyone who took part in this game, but especially proud of those two!

If you liked Asura's Wrath and the demo of XVI, I'd reccomend Wonderful 101. Fantastic game with great music by Rei Kondo. Goes from 100 to 1000 by the end of the game.
For those who are wondering why FF main titles have greadually step away from turn base gameplay, It is important to keep things in perspective and consider the following:
Yakuza like a Dragon has sold more than 490,000 copies (as reported on October 2022). Before its launch the total amount of sales the franchise had accumulated was 2.8 million units among all the games.
Dragon Quest XI has sold over 6.5 million copies which expand several versions and ports for multiple platforms.
Persona 5 has sold 8.3 million units globally but that is including the original version, the Royal version (3.3 million across all platforms), Persona 5 Strikers and P5: Dancing in Starlight.
For those series which until now they have a more niche franchise, that is huge and impressive numbers in comparisson. But for a more mainstream series like FF, which FF XV has sold 10 million despite all its problems and beign in way less platforms (like Nintendo Switch) not so much.
I am not saying that a turn-based FF game with a AAA budget could be done in the future, but the FF XVI wanted to try out new things and I think they can get it right with action.
Alex that by far was the best impression’s for FFXVI I’ve seen so far. Great job. I also am an ispiring video game music composer. You have also motivated me to give this passion of mine all I’ve got. The melody that you play on the guitar in the 23:00 minute mark is so amazing!! Dude where can I hear the full version of that.

Jesus man, you sound like you asked your first crush out on a date and she said yes. Don't think I've ever heard you this excited and giddy. Game sounds incredible. I know the people behind it already are. Yoshi P went through Shadowbringers 5 times before the game even released just to get every detail right. This game is in great hands.

I was already hyped as a FF fan, but I could not stop smiling listening to your passion for this game. It really seems Yoshida understood which direction should FF goes as we all grew up. I have also read that the combat system has Devil May Cry s inspiration. If yes, my goodness, I need to take vacation when this games releases😃
Yea, FF16's combat designer Ryota Suzuki came from Capcom and worked on Dragons Dogma and DMC5 before.
I'm really interested to see how that translates to a final fantasy game.
FF shouldn't go in any one direction. Each game is a reflection and distillation of the industry at the time it was made.
When you mentioned his state of mind being "tormented" towards his foes and not towards his friends, I was going to comment on how it sounded like actively channeling the Eikons might be affecting him - and then you made that exact observation!

Well Soken is doing an amazing work in FFXIV but he must have a lot of constraints mainly a time constraint to release so many tracks in short periods of time. His work on a "real" (i mean big numbered solo) episode must be astounding, like a Soken liberated from all the constraints. Can't wait to hear that ! Still thrilled to see your passion Alex and your analyzes about the FF music :)

Also, according to some other outlets, the dialog was originally written in Japanese, localized to English by Koji-Fox and the team, performed and recorded in English (including the facial performance), and then re-localized to other languages.

@@dafire9634 2018's XC2: Torna is one that comes to mind. The protagonist is 27, she and everyone else in the cast (except the kids they safeguard) is an adult late 20's or older and the maturity comes through thoroughly.
@@dafire9634 Most of Persona 2 party members were in high school. Most of mainline Final Fantasy games have adult cast with a couple of kids mixed in.

This is so wild and somewhat ironic because I was watching another video of another youtuber who got to interview Yoshi-P and he mentioned how Yoshida hated the term JRPG. In fact, from what I could gather, many Japanese developers despise that term because it's more of a western-made term that somewhat limits their creative vision to only ''Stories about anime teenagers saving the world, etc.'' In their mind, they're creating RPGs and, simply because it's from Japan and has an anime-like aesthetic, we, as the western audience, immediately put the game in a specific box and judge it from that point of view.
''You have me at JRPG with actual adults'' immediately sends them a message that we wouldn't even glance at their game because we've already made up our mind that it's a JRPG so it HAS to be the same JRPG stuff we've seen in the past. We immediately compartmentalize it and judge it before even playing.
I'm not trying to argument with your or anything, I just thought it was interesting. That interview was insightful and kind of opened my mind to how it must've been rough for Japanese developers, especially the RPG ones, to try and tap into the western market.
Out of all of the previews releasing today, yours is the definitive. Your take is so genuine, I can't help but be incredibly excited! Especially your take on the soundtrack. Good job, man
Couldn't agree more! This is by far the best review video of all the ones out there. The one from FF union was everything I hate about the FF fanbase, a bunch of angry people who want the exact same thing from 30 years ago and can't accept that things change.

I think you’re spot on about the Eikons influencing the dominant’s mental state, I had recently watched a trailer where they introduced the kingdoms and Titan’s dominant broke into some angry declaration of violence while holding his head (We haven’t seen much of titan yet but based on his visage alone he looks absolutely pissed off and rabid). He put on that death metal voice you were talking about and was like “I’LL CRUSH HIM, FLAY HIM”.
This probably explains Benedikta’s manic screeching mid fight as well, as Garuda seems gleefully unhinged in a way, like during the Eikon fight she always had this big grin on her face even while clive was slashing and stabbing her.
Sooo much hype. 15 disappointed me, 14 brought me back and when I heard Yoshi-P's team was heading the 16 project, I got completely hyped!

@@muammarraihan9351 characters I didn't care about, story that was a drag to follow. Don't get me wrong, the combat was awesome, gameplay was fine in general but it felt more like a chore than actually a fun thing to do. And that's why it disappoints me.

When I first heard the soundtrack that plays during the boss fight, I was SHOCKED! I didn't really know what to expect. Learning that the piece was Soken's first for the game got me even more hyped to hear more of it!
YP is also a huge Tactics Ogre fan (as well as a huge chunk of the team for 14). The director for 16 is the Last Remnant dude as well so a lot of these choices make a lot of sense.

15:55 You mention the music switching in battle and when not and how it'd be cool to see it in FFXIV. In The Binding Coils of Bahamut Raid series on Turns 1 and 2nd Coil Turn 1 the music is actually dynamic and Switches between tracks "Primal Timbre" and "Spiral". It's one of the only instances I can recall if them doing something like this in FFXIV though and I agree it'd be nice to see it being done more
I envy you in meeting him. Koji has been a great person from FF11, FF14 and now FF16 it's great that he has been moving into new things.
One of my favorite songs he has written in english was the Memoro De La Stono and having Susan Calloway singing it.

Damn, this game is really sounding like everything I've ever wanted. It has potential to become my one of my favorite games of all time and I haven't felt that way about an upcoming game in years. Awesome preview, thank you Alex!!
It makes me so happy to hear it's _this_ good. The franchise badly needs this after the last decade of mainline singleplayer titles.
I don't have a PS5, so I won't be playing until the PC release, but hearing you describe it has gotten me super excited, probably even more than the trailers!

I feel like Yoshi-P has a lot to do with that. He's had 10 years of experience surprising players. The lead up to Endwalker was especially big because we knew next to nothing.
Ff7r is based off a very old game though, so they probably feel that showing off stuff that isn't new to the game is fair play

I love your idea of having Clive's mental state changing depending on the current junctionned Eikon, this does add more depth and connection to the system lore-wise. If true, I look forward to see how he behaves while using the other Eikons, but also how he will change throughout the years.

big ups to you man, stoked to see your passion for the franchise, not just from a musical perspective, but from a genuine fan perspective.
I also want to point out that I love Yoshi-P efforts to have people be overwhelmingly excited for 16 and that excitement carry on to an eventual 17. That is why he want to evolve the series and the JRPG genre, so both are not beholden by a fix preconceived notions or elements (such as the turn based combat).
A little bit of context to explain my comment:
The original Final Fantasy was basically an adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons, using almost the exact same combat as D&D, which became a staple of FF. Having a party with an ensemble cast with different classes, abilities and backstories is not something unlike the parties of D&D either.
So after experimenting with many titles and making risk with every and each one of them, Yoshi-P and his team are making an RPG like nothing before has happen in the history of the franchise. I think Yoshi-P has the right idea if he’s the one to bring FF to the mainstream again like it was in 80’s through the early 00’s.
Because at the end of the day Final Fantasy has and it always have been, an IP that reinvents itself each game.
I was excited for this game, but after watching this and listening to your reactions, I am extremely anticipating it. thank you for this, Alex! Keep up your amazing work!

I'm so glad all the things I've seen coming out about this today are almost 100% positive. I was pretty nervous that we hadn't seen much beyond cutscene trailers for the game before now, but it appears that all is well with the rest of it as well. Hyped for June 22.

I've been scanning a few other videos about the press tour, and one of these featured music from the boss fight of the press demo; I managed to hear a direct reference to a musical theme in FF14 and I'm so freaking excited to hear the rest.

Dude you were getting me pretty hype in the first 2/3 of the video and then there was that clip of the chorus and it absolutely pushed me over the top.

Whaaaaat!!!!! Early access is there already! This is the kind of content that I'm hoping for every day when I check CZcams. Happy that it was you who could try it half a year before the release! I'm so hyped now. I really hope I can afford a PS5 soon so play this and Rebirth! Due to personal reasons, I really can relate to Clive being angry towards his enemies. I want to see the representation of justified RAGE. Looking forward to see how it develops and resolves.
I just got a PS4 Pro used a couple years ago and while I still find that console to be full of stuff to play, man, if FFXVI isn't making me want a PS5 right now...
