  • Quick video on how to install new drift tires on aluminum rims without killing your hands lol. I highly recommend heating the tires before attempting to install them on aluminum rims since it will be a very tight fit.

    Hello perfect explanation, I also changed some tires with letters this week, there is also another way to heat them very homemade, with a hair dryer holding the tires well by putting it close, it is also effective, it is appreciated and you learn a lot with your videos, he says Much of the person you are, thank you and a big hug friend.

      Thank you for the tip on using a hair dryer! I did not think it would get hot enough so that’s why I used boiling water. I will have to try the hair dryer next time :)

    Hi. There are problems with the mail and there are considerable delays with deliveries. I decided to polish the tires that I have in the car. The effect is very satisfactory. The car has less grip than before. In these hot moments you have to manage somehow :) As soon as the situation calms down I will order DS LF-4

      I love the LF4 tires, but I was recently talking to DS Racing & they told me they will be releasing an LF5 tire soon so you may want to wait to order.
      The LF5 should have even less traction the the LF4 & should help with low speed drifts 😀

    Thanks for the info! Did the stickers come off the tire over time due to putting it in water or are they still in good shape?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 3 lety +1

      The stickers will stay in place as long as you don’t rub them off. I have damaged a few of the stickers but that was because I was being too rough
      The stickers generally hold up really well

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety

      lol nope 😹 once I install a set of tires on rims they are mated for life.
      But really it’s almost impossible to pull rims off of the aluminum rims, without damaging the rims or marring the tires (I tied).
      You can pull them off plastic rims if there is not a tight fit, but it seems like my rims always have a crazy tight fit.

    Great video. As a beginner, maybe I ask why you didn't tape the wheel before putting on tires? Is taping optional for drift tires? thx.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 3 lety

      Tape is only needed on rubbery grip tires, but drift tires a a hard plastic. Plus with drift tires there would not be enough space for tape since tolerances are so tight it’s a press fit

    Hi BMR, I bought DS Racing tires but still have the stock plastic wheels. What aluminum/alloy wheels do you recommend for an MA-020 with 94mm Subaru body kit (+2.5mm front, 0.0mm rear). Are new wheels worth it, or are good tires alone adequate? Thanks!

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 3 lety

      I use the Route 246 (its a kyosho brand) aluminum wheels & they work great but they can be difficult to source since they are always in high demand.
      The 246 rims are overall very good quality & well balanced in my experience.

    How do you get the tires off?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Same method. Heat them up in warm water to loosen them off the rim. Beware, some brands like WL Toys glue their tires to the rim so be careful.

      @BMR3 that's good to know. Thank you. I didn't want to end up throwing away wheels if I could avoid it like 1/10 scale. Hated glued tires lol.

    Welcome. What should I choose the size of tires for Subaru?
    8.5mm narrow or 8.5mm all-wheel front and 11mm wide rear. I will add that I have standard rims that were included with the car

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +1

      I believe the standard rims have a narrow front & wife rear. I would recommend going with the same configuration so your tires & rims will be flush with your body.

    • @BMR3

      @@BMR3 a person from the store found all four 8.5mm tires or 8.5mm on the front axle and 11mm on the rear. I don't know what to choose In my Subaru, when I measure the tires I have 8.5 and the rear 11. When I order all four pieces of 8.5 mm, how will they fit on the rear axle since mine are 11mm and the rim also has such a dimension

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +1

      You want 8.5 for the front & 11 on the rears so your tires will be flush with the rims. You want 11 in the rear so the rims will be flush with your body.
      Does that make sense?

  • @ringod123
    @ringod123 Před 4 lety +1

    How much better would you say third party drift tyres are over the stock Kyosho drift tyres?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +2

      It really depends on your drift surface. Each compound is better suited for a specific type of surface or desired grip.
      Personally I think the LF4 tires make a noticeable difference over the stock Kyosho tiers when drifting at low speeds since they break loose easier and provide less traction.
      LF1 tiers are very good for a car that you want a lot of “bite” with & can perform more technical transitions with. It makes for a very agile car, but I tend to drift a little faster with these tires.
      LF3 are basically Kyosho drift tires with cool stickers.
      They aren’t necessarily “better” but rather each compound will perform differently on a given surface. It’s really up to you decide what is best for your set up and drift environment.
