I was born in 1980. At about 10 years old, I started watching What's Happening, when it played in the Summer. I nearly lost my mind, the first time I saw him dance. I hoped he would break out dancing, every episode.
If Rerun was still alive...... Some how I can picture him being on "Dancing with the Stars" and him definitely having a moment to do some pop lockin'. ✌️😁
Unfortunately his last days was that of a realtor of all things, the guy did not get the respect he deserved, some California rappers did, but not even Michael Jackson, I mean Michael could have done a show with him and danced together the way Michael danced with traditional Hindu people.
I think CZcams videos need a lesson before you can comment on what the word underrated means. He's the opposite of underrated as a dancer. He's famous FOR DANCING 😂
AVERAGE JOE Jerome Bettis was the original Jerome Bettis. The bus was highly talented and a well deserved legend, this loser had one move and not much of a career after this show
He had more energy and flexibility than the more fit dancers. This dude was doing splits and flips like it was nothing. His size ultimately caught up with him, but right here he was at his peak.
R.I.P.: Fred Berry. No one in the World can step like "Rerun" on the Dance Floor and still be Funny as Hell at the same time. He always tickled My Funny Bone!

"Whats Happening" was a Great show that holds up very well over the years and is always a blast to watch over and over. Great writing and directing, the stories and pots were very well done, and most of all - the wonderful and very gifted actors and actresses who made up the fine cast were all superb!! Thank you all for giving us so many happy and memorable times with loads of laughter and such good morals to follow and live by.
It surely stands the test of time, which a lot of shows don't do. I hadn't watched it since I was a kid and a friend bought me the series as a gift. To my surprise, I binged the whole thing.
Christopher Phillips that’s so weird...I was thinking that earlier that he’s one of my favorite tv characters of all time. Then I came on here and saw your post AND had to say something since we share the same last name lol
I showed this video to someone who was too young to have ever heard of Rerun or 'What's Happening?'. This person was convinced that the actor was a thin, trained dancer who was in makeup and a padded body suit.
God, this show brings back so many memories of sitting on my living room floor at 8 years of age drinking a glass of chocolate milk at 4:30pm after school watching so many great episodes of Raj, Rerun, and Dwayne hangin’ out at the soda shop:)

Was watching a marathon of What's Happening on TV Land channel that brought me here today. Fred Berry was a very good dancer and actor, a natural talent. Imagine what he could have been if he had knowledge and discipline of how to properly take care of his body and had normal weight. I learned that he eventually was attempting to clean up his diet, by consulting nutritional experts and natural doctors knowing his health was in jeopardy, but he lacked the discipline to follow through. His dietary habits is what eventually killed him at the young age of 52. He unfortunately died of complications from a stroke and diabetes on 10/21/2003.

Rerun was underrated as a dancer and a actor.
Indeed! And without a doubt most likely the funniest character on the show! 😁
