    Knowing the actress is the actual mom of the kid as well is so melancholic. He was literally born because of her both in the movie and real life :(

      Same. Watching 5 hours straight of these women’s most intimate moments really struck a chord with me. Im spellbound

    I watched it again yesterday and noticed for the first time the tear rolling on her nose as she waves goodbye. Very beautiful details in a grandiose scenery.

    ハッピーアワーの中で、このシーンが一番泣けるシーンかもしれない。だいきの「ありがとう」でグッときた。このセリフがハッピーアワーという映画を支えている。リアリズムが詩へと飛び立つ一瞬。「ありがとう」という日常語が聖なる輝きを放つ一瞬。遠ざかってゆく巨大な街神戸。フェリーの甲板から撮られた息を飲む映像。パッと開く桜子の瞳へ。映画の魔法に痺れる。

      How about another guchi- Mizoguchi - and his wonderful masterpiece Sansho Dayu/Sansho the Bailiff (1954)
