Nice Vid! I set up a saltwater tank specifically because I wanted clowns. The biggest hurdle was disease. I set up a quarantine tank for a pair of clowns that I think had flukes, and I could never get the quarantine to balance correctly. That tank kept killing fish. I found out I could get pre-medicated/quarantined fish so waited 3 months then bought a couple clowns that had gone through that service. I should have done that from the get go. It would have saved me a lot of money and heartache.

With the Hanna Phosphate checker you are meant to cut along the lines on the packet and then squeeze the packet which opens up and makes it's own spout. This ensures you can see the packet is empty and you do not need a funnel

I envy anyone who can keep a saltwater tank. It’s only a dream of mine to have such a tank. I’ve had freshwater fish for years (20+ off and on) and have had a horrible time keeping my water perimeters correct. . Especially the PH. I’ve purchased every diff chemical under the sun to try bringing down my ph but they never seemed to work. I took a sample of my water to my local fish store and after a few recommendations, the fish guy told me he really didn’t know what else to do. Ugh. So I just went with keeping a higher PH type of fish.
Thank goodness for CZcams so I can look at other peoples reef/saltwater tanks! ❤

Will clowns host in boloceroides mcmurrichi (Swimming anemones)? They are more related to the pest aiptasia anemones than they are to the bubble tip, carpet, and the magnificent anemone and I already brought mine home from the sea after finding out (I was confident that it will be a hardy anemone after seeing it swim and after seeing a few dozen in one area only because a swimming anemone must quickly adapt to new environments right?) and after 3 months, it is still alive and in the same rock. I might have to release it back if it can't host clowns. (Also why don't I have fish in my tank for 3 months? All stores nearby are closed and from where I am from, delivery is too expensive so I'm just waiting for a store to open up)

Not suitable for reef tanks but great characters for fish only tanks, although they're messy eaters so you'll need a big tank with a lot of filtration

    Phosphate Hanna checker:
    1. you're supposed to mix it GENTLY for 2 minutes... that did not look gently to me 🤣🤣
    2. you're going to get more accurate results if you avoid gripping the cuvette in the middle of the glass, so you don't transfer oils from your fingers.

    Also to add:
If your clown has white spots, it could be a disease or it was just playing in the sand.
If your clown is swimming towards a powerhead, it could be a disease or it’s just playing with the flow.
If your clown is laying motionless against the overflow grates, it could be dead or it’s just playing with the flow.
These fish are called “clowns” for a reason.
