It’s Peter Green’s guitar. Both post owners deserve mention, but it will always be Green’s. Peter Green is, truly, the one master of this instrument. As much as I respect Moore, and even Hammett, Green is just on such another level it’s disrespectful not to mention him or pay him due respect in a video about his original guitar.
I agree with you 100%. It is Peter Green's guitar no matter who owns it. Gary did very well with it and deservingly so. That being said, Peter Green was Gary's idol and friend. He sold it to Gary for $150 or so that he would have a chance to buy it back if he wanted it back. Green as we know he was more giving then being greedy, so I suppose he never asked for it back again. You don't sell a guitar like that for that low price, what the hell would he do with $150? lol like that guitar passed on to a respected player. I don't have the same feelings for Kirk IMO. The only thing I give credit to Kirk, is that he's playing it instead of a collector that would put it in a showcase and never play it for bragging rights.
@John D agreed. I respect Kirk but with all due respect to Gary, he lit that guitar up like nobody’s business. Kirk has mastered the style of playing for 50 years but still sounding like he is three years in lol
It' amazing just how many people that make a video on this guitar really don't know much about it! And it should be known and called the Greeny Moore guitar because it's mostly been played by the great Gary Moore and that's why you have different knobs on it. It's still over priced!
The Greenie is the only guitar that I have seen that was passed down to different artists throughout the years. I hope I'm not forgetting any other famous inherited guitars.
I have one of these. and it has an exceptional top and the back is highly figured too. It really is beautiful. It plays better than any of the other guitars I've owned. However... as a recreation it's a half hearted attempt at best. No gloss finish. The back should have a cherry finish not a natural one. No 50s wiring harness, caps or pots.. No tall vintage style trim rings for the pickups. No Nylon nut. No R9 spec ABR1 bridge or stop bar tail piece. Doing this wouldn't have added much cost. These are all things Gibson does with other models, on a regular basis. Why not on this one? I'm sending mine to Historic Makeovers to make it the way it should have been done in the first place. Can't wait to get it back. it's gonna be EPIC!
The tone coming out of those PUPS when Rocker Scott was playing almost sounds like a single coiled strat. Like if I was doing a blind listen I would almost be tempted to say you're playing a strat lol because when that dude was playing, 10:22 it sounded like SRV Texas blues strat when he was hitting that lick. Sounds awesome.
Which one of you is replicating Peter Green? None of it sounded anything like him. Guys, it's called the Greeny. He was a very special player that excelled at subtlety ; just shows, ain't just the guitar. Liked the Parisienne Walkways thing. I have a Gary Moore BFG which is defective, I sound nothing like him, lol. That being said Peter and Gary are 2 of my long time heroes. Kirk? Seems like a nice guy.
This is Gary Moore"s guitar. Kirk and Peter Green are amazing players, but Gary Moore made this guitar famous. I tried one the other day, and it sounded fantastic, but the satin feel was kinda rough, andmade me walk away. I then changed my mind, as I can always polish it a bit, went back, and they were sold out. Had to order one from another shop, with no idea how long it will take to come in.
Fun! I hope the Gibson agent bring a few over to HK - very interested. I grew up listening to Peter Green - still have a few original Fleetwood Mac singles! - and it's his 'clean' chordal and solo work, often with a massive reverb, that defined his unique guitar style at a time when Clapton & others were leaning more towards highly overdriven stuff. Of course PG could do that too but it wasn't his signature sound IMO. Very keen to try this guitar, love the look of it, but given the availability of boutique 'Peter Green' pick-ups out there not absolutely essential. Marty at Monty's Guitars in UK got a first-hand look at the Greeny pick-ups before KH bought the guitar and his 'Bethnal Green' PAFs look like an alternative option. I think Lollar also do a pair.
Good lord there are alot of guys still playing real 59s onstage not just Kirk . He plays it for a couple songs . Other guys play real 59s for entire concerts.
Gary Moore changed the two knobs for the bridge pickup volume & tone so that he could “feel” the difference between the pickup controls without having to actually look down at them. I saw a video interview where he said that or at least he was quoted as saying that. Or at least something close to that concept.
As a "Greeny" this Standard falls flat, but taken for what it is a AAA topped 50s Satin Standard it's great. I ditched all the "Greeny" hoopla and made it into a fantastic guitar.
Finally some people talking about the greeny pickups who actually understand that they are not out of Phase because the neck pickup is turned around. I hear all these presenters saying the neck pickup is installed in reverse for the out of Phase sound. The magnetic polarity does not change because you turn the pickup. Around. If you install the greeny neck rhe rigjt way Around it will still be out of Phase in the middle. The lack of knowledge of many you tube presenters is very sad.
I thought we could have Greeny sound in the middle position at every VOL and tone level ? It is true or is there a sweet spot ?Want to do the mod…thanks for your help 🙏😉
I've heard the same about peter sent it to a Luther that done it. Then I've heard experts had looked at it from Gibson. And states the pickups and wiring had never been touched it was a factory accident. So I guess we will never know.
It's a good-looking Les Paul with only the PUPs and 2 mismatched knobs. It's sort of Greeny sounding without the look and appointments. $50k for Kirk and Gibson to agree to meet and the petting zoo and a very expensive dinner lol. Than $20k for the Gibson Custom Shop lol minus the dinner and the petting. USA line at $3,199 for fans not crying as much about the price tag but still a little bit. It's a good Les Paul, not a Greeny. Wait a little bit for Epiphone to get in the action is at about $1, 299 my guess is they get into the game.
Sounds so weird to be called Kirk Hammett signature and looking and Gary’s guitar lol, I respect Kirk for appreciating it, I don’t listen to his music but it is nice that the guitar lives on, I think Gibson should just have called it Greeny at this point without Kirk’s name attached to it, Gary ripped the living daylight out of it like nobody’s business.
It's a faded. That's it. It should be priced as such. Headed towards the silliness of the Henry J days. I hate to see it. Also Music Zoo I miss you. Please open your doors again to the public. I spent money there when that was the case. Not so much any more.. Great shop.
Fuggen terrible review demo 😅 not one single clean tone to really show off how beautiful the out of phase tone could really be that’s the main selling point the greeny buckers lol great job fellas with all that high gain 😅
The majority of purchasers of this guitar are bedroom warriors probably not even semi pro musicians. An outrageous indulgence when you consider what you can buy for a lot less money that will sound and look as good. How can those individuals justify the spend when you consider many of them will have far more important commitments and responsibilities. The guitar is nothing but a gross self-indulgence. Get real you aint never going to sound like Gary Moore or Peter Green what ever your guitar looks like folks even if you are an above average player!
LOL! Kirk Hammet most definitely does not tour with the original Greeney! I know for an absolute fact! That is a replica Greeney! It's called show buisness. No different than the 14 Marshall stacks some bands have on stage, only one works or behind them sits a Kemper modeling amp.
The Collector's Edition and the Custom Shop versions are amazing. The guitars these two guys are pushing are garbage...trust me. And, they're overpriced garbage to boot. Don't waste your money people. "They killed it"....yeah right buddy

Perhaps but even Green isn't the original owner.

WTF. Why are you fking whining about Peter Green this and not Peter Green that? Is Greeny not the fking name of the guitar?
Gary Moore did that original guitar justice.
@John D agreed. I respect Kirk but with all due respect to Gary, he lit that guitar up like nobody’s business. Kirk has mastered the style of playing for 50 years but still sounding like he is three years in lol

I 've got mine today and it's a Dream guitar. It's sound Amazing with my Jubile.
Saw Gary playing it in 1984 Maple Leafs Gardens he opened up for Def Leppard.
The tone coming out of those PUPS when Rocker Scott was playing almost sounds like a single coiled strat. thanks so much!!! We've heard Kirk say the guitar sounds like a Strat too. Rules

I'm struggling to understand the point of this comment. Is it constructive criticism, or are you simply being passive aggressive?

true, many boutique companies offer a PG set

Just brought one today
Saw it in Madison Wis in 2018 when MetallicA kicked off the USA leg of the Hard Wired Tour!!

These are cool. Jordan makes that guitar chug !!
hell yeah!
@@themusiczoo Tommy and the other fella are pretty good too 🤘🏼😂
59 Sunburst that faded 🤍 Thin Lizzy Fun ...Gary Moore was so very heavy 💫
Gorgeous guitars but €4K here in Europe is far too much for a USA Standard
Btw you should have opened the video with 10.40 👏🙌
We like opening with a tagline going into shredding, but of course it's Tommy playing - one of our best!
I thought we could have Greeny sound in the middle position at every VOL and tone level ? It is true or is there a sweet spot ?Want to do the mod…thanks for your help 🙏😉

Loads of fun
Sounds amazing
thank you!
How would i know other than the pickups and the $3200 tag if its a kirk hammett model greeny?
Heard it was a factory mistake whilst making the pickup and a small run was produced before they noticed.

I believe it was an anomaly from the factory..Guys back in day I don’t think wud go that deep to flip a magnet..it was a beautiful mishap😂
a blessing in disguise!
The neck pickup had a re wound and the megnet was flipped
Sounds so weird to be called Kirk Hammett signature and looking and Gary’s guitar lol, I respect Kirk for appreciating it, I don’t listen to his music but it is nice that the guitar lives on, I think Gibson should just have called it Greeny at this point without Kirk’s name attached to it, Gary ripped the living daylight out of it like nobody’s business.
we think they do a good job honoring the guitars history while still giving credit to the fella who bought it and still plays it today!
It's a faded. That's it. It should be priced as such. Headed towards the silliness of the Henry J days. I hate to see it. Also Music Zoo I miss you. Please open your doors again to the public. I spent money there when that was the case. Not so much any more.. Great shop.
We've reopened!... c'mon down
Over Pretentions vibrato ?
Kind of guys who talks more or guitars than play them but hey that’s ok. Ordered at Thomann
that's cool! thomann is great for europe. thanks for watching.
Turn the magnet 180 degrees in the front pickup of your Gibson costs nothing
The tone is turrible. Could they ease up on the fizz.
Is there no one who can play blues on this guitar?
Fuggen terrible review demo 😅 not one single clean tone to really show off how beautiful the out of phase tone could really be that’s the main selling point the greeny buckers lol great job fellas with all that high gain 😅
I didnt know geoff bezos plays guitar
I thought everyone knew the story
Shit, didn’t know Jeff Bezos played guitar.
lolol

our first batch is gone, and more are on the way!

Gibson = yawn 🥱 I'll stay with my 2021 Epiphone Custom Koa Les Paul..
😂
@andreborges2881 ask yourself who actually tour and play a Gibson on a consistent basis today..I'll give you the answer ONLY a Handful..that's a fact
@@BlueberryStinkFinger62 🤣😂🤡
Calm down it’s just a guitar
that's what we're sayin.
They're garbage guitars
Yes it sounds nothing like the real one this sounds like a USA Gibson standard..
The Collector's Edition and the Custom Shop versions are amazing. The guitars these two guys are pushing are garbage...trust me.
And, they're overpriced garbage to boot.
Don't waste your money people.
"They killed it"....yeah right buddy
To me the playing in this video is highly objectable..... just like the tones.....
lol
