Glad to see that folks tasked with serving the Christmas pudding kept their eyebrows intact! There were many eyebrows, moustaches, and fringes sacrificed to the age-old custom of pouring brandy over the pudding and setting it alight! 😮😊

Really enjoyed all these Christmas photos. Each one is so special no matter what year. You showed one photo in 1962, of all the people shopping in a dept. store and said how people now do their Christmas shopping on- line.
Not me - I have NEVER done ANY Christmas shopping online.
I do ALL my Christmas shopping in stores. Granted, I don't have very many people to shop for anymore, maybe about 5 people, so not hard to go to some stores - and buy myself a little gift or two while there as well. 😊
I am not into on-line shopping period. I like the brick and mortar stores,
but go on a weekday when not so busy and not at the last minute.

I agree. I never order anything online except maybe a part that is needed to repair something that can't be bought in a store. It is sad that so many of the old department stores of the past are gone now. There was such a special feeling associated with going downtown and browsing through the stores searching for just the right gifts for friends and family.

Happy New Year to you. Yes, I miss many stores no longer around.
I never thought a nation wide store like Sears, would close their doors.
I used to get their wonderful catalogs. Also, Montgomery Ward, Mervyn's,
Woolworth's and SO MANY more. There is a few CZcams videos called , "Department Stores No Longer Around" or it might be just under "Stores no longer Around" I can't remember for sure. It was a very interesting video though. Some stores were in malls and others were stand alone stores and not necessarily in a mall. Quite a few book and record stores too like Borders, The Warehouse and others. 😥

I bought my decorations all retro from ebay. It was expensive but worth it. I don't buy new decorations I don't like modern ones, foil hangers on the ceiling, satin baubles, tinsel and lametta. I can't believe christmas is over and I have to take them down on January 5th.
I used to have all the 1980s decorations but lost them after living in hotels for 6 years. But I have them back and I'm keeping them forever.
Happy new year everyone ❤love from London England 🇬🇧

Even some of the later photos 70's and later seem to have an eerie 1950's feel.

I went retro with my decorations and tree this year. I don't think I'll ever do it any other way from now on. Although the tinsel was hard to find!

0:34.. does tinsel burn? should they been standing so close the tree? is the tree saying, 'don't stand so close to me'
(Sting!!) my goodness.. i had no idea til tonight the subject matter of the song!! my sister and i born in 53 and 51 respectively wore matching outfits. our paternal grandmother made felt socks for our family one year.. late 50s probably.. still have them.. wow, that tugs at the heart strings!!

The plastic kind they make now burns easily. The kind they made up until the 60's was lead foil was flame resistant as l recall.

Tinsel on trees is really pretty, but wow what a pain! In order to look nice, they have to be placed carefully strand by strand. And they end up all over the house. Not to mention the choking hazards for children and pets.

That old t.v that family had was made in the 50's. By 65 there were more color t.v being sold and black and white t.v. sets were more sleeker.

Great montage, but the 1976 photo doesn't look '76 to me.
Love the memories these bring back!

I had forgotten about tensel. How much time it took to add each one to the branhes, and then taking them off to use the next year. I wonder whathappened to mine.
