कई साल पहले DD1 पर एक प्रोग्राम में राहुल देव बर्मन का इंटरव्यू देखा था | उनहोंने बताया था कि जब "क्या हुआ तेरा वादा " गाने की रिकार्डिंग हो रही थी तो फाइनल रिकार्डिंग के समय रफ़ी साहब एक अलग ही अंदाज़ में गाने लगे, जैसे कि किसी दूसरी ही दुनिया में चले गए हों | कुछ करने या देखने की जरूरत ही नहीं थी किसी के लिए ... और फिर जब वो लाइन गाई "ओ कहने वाले मुझको फरेबी..." उस समय की उनकी आवाज ने पूरा स्टूडियो ही जैसे हिला के रख दिया था | गाना खत्म होने के दो मिनट बाद तक मैं या कोई भी हिल नहीं सका था | फिर नासिर हुसैन जो फिल्म के प्रोड्यूसर थे, वो उठकर तालियाँ बजाते हुए रफ़ी साहब के पास गए और बोले " आज का ये गाना रफ़ी जी , आपके गानों की हिस्ट्री में ही नहीं, अपने भारत के गानों की हिस्ट्री में टॉप टेन में जाएगा | आप देखना पूरी दुनिया में बजेगा ये |" .... और ये बात कितनी सच हुई और मुझे गर्व होता है कि मैंने ये गाना बनाया था | .... both R D Burman and Rafi were great as team. And Sonu Nigam khud unko guru maante hai, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan unko ustaad, Arijit Singh jinko classical ki training tak mili hai woh bhi Rafi sahab ka ek simple sa song acche se nahi gaa paate hai. Woh era Bollywood songs ka golden era yuhi nahi kaha jata hai. Rafi sahab jaisa koi nahi gata, na koi waisa aayega. Tho Sonu ne unse sikha hai gaane mai expressions wagera daalna and Javed Ali has somewhat similar voice like him. Still woh unke jaisa nahi gaa shakte.

You want to listen to high notes, you have to venture into the realm of Raga. Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. BalMurali Krishna…the maestros. In this video clip, Md. Rafi Saab is singing so effortlessly while the others are screaming. However, this video certainly did not do justice to Shankar Mahadevan or Sonu Nigam both of whom have been classically trained.
This guys bread and butter is on bollywood. They won't understand the indian classical music at all. They have two reactions on pandit bhimsen joshi ji but I don't think they understood the inhuman capabilities of his singing.

No one can come close to the Greatest Immortal Legend Mohammed Rafi Sahab, He Could Sing Very Low and Very High Notes without any difficulty, Even though he left us in 1980 , Just Imagine what he could have achieved with today’s technology .
Believe me KK is the best in high notes because his voice never crack in high notes, and as his vocal is thin, smoothly , it sooths our minds. And Rafi shab may sing high notes but his vocal is not so much charming like KK. kK's voice is so soft.
