- Upside down aquarium over a pond. No mollies were eaten in this video. The pacu is eating the fish food.

1. How does it work?
I used a shop vac to suck the air out of the tank. This creates a vacuum that keeps the water inside as long as the lip of the tank stays underwater.
2. What's on your elbow?
A piece of mulch from laying on the ground to put food in the tank.
3. Where is this?
Florida

Good thing Pacu's rarely eat other fish (for the little fish anyway) these things can get huge. In a small tank they will only get so big but in the wild they are pretty enormous.Look alot like and kin to Parana's but like I said are mainly vegetarians.

Yes, related loosely to piranha. And that's a myth-they will not stop growing due to a small tank! And they aren't mainly veggie. They're omnivorous n will eat anything that fits in their mouths, meat or otherwise.

How does the water not equalize into the pond? I'm confused.
DANTRON it's because of a vacuum caused by sucking out the air. the water rises up as the air leaves and the water below acts as a seal. it's a pretty simple trick to do.
you can find videos on how to create these types of aquariums anywhere. aquarium water bridges use the same concept to connect two tanks

When I worked with ponds, I considered doing this. Generally you have quite a float around the sphere or whatever you use, you counteract the vacuum created from sucking out the air. It's a neat gimmick for keeping Koi. If your pond is big enough, of course. otherwise it ends up an eye sore.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I realized an aquarium is a perfect easy cheat for an upside down aquarium in a pond versus custom building one. Plus it can always just go right back to being a regular aquarium.

This looks so trippy. I think what makes it more so is that the opening of the fish tank at the bottom gives the illusion of a "surface" so it really looks like the pacu swims up out of the water, and then back down below the surface-illusion. The reflection from the outside water's real surface just adds to the illusion.

Marius Swart Just put the upside down aquarium in the pond not taller than the aquarium then siphon the air out of the aquarium from the bottom, by doing so the water from the pond shall replace the air that was siphoned then will be replacing the air with water.

Marius Swart The tank is on some cinder blocks and bricks. I also had to use a little bit of tile to help level the tank because the bottom of the pond isn't level.

The scenery is gorgeous. I've never tried that before, putting an aquarium upside down over a stream/ pond area. I would have thought that the water would drain itself from the aquarium into the stream/ pond.
