Where I moved to in 2012 not much grain farms but a lot of hay farms. I love the smell of fresh cut hay and I miss the smell of fresh turned earth. Years ago I was talking to a Amish man that made candles, he said he could make just about any fragrance and I said fresh cut hay, fresh plowed ground or wood shavings, he said he would to because they would sell like crazy. He was still trying to when I moved.
@@joshuapenner what model / serial number ROME PLOW do you have ? What size disc blades is on it ? What gears where you pulling it in both times with your Versatile 800 tractor ?
Back in the 80s we pulled a 30 foot rome disk with a 4440 and 4450 four wheel drive but we had them turned up all they would go they would walk away with it
Yeah I just went with the name that was on the machine but yes like you say it does extremely well on wet land. The land we have around there is usually very wet peat moss. (Peat moss is dirt that one can buy at garden centers for planting)
That disk identifies as a plow. 😆
Did a lot of work with one of those after the caterpillar had pushed up the windrows. Doing a nice job rolling the sod.
Yes sir it sure did a great job. You must have had fun working with that machinery
@@joshuapenner sure did. The smell of fresh pushed bush is almost addicting..

Yup I know what you mean about the smells. Nothing compares to them. They are the best smells I know of

Bellissimo video 🙋♂️👍🌞🌈💚
Well, you only have 1/2 of a rome discer there. A double rome disk can power stall a 400 hp tractor with ease
Making a rough mess for 2nd pass and 3rd and 4th and rough for planting
Thats a "Bog" or marsh plow, disk. Good for wet areas.

Ummm, now what do you go over the field with next?
A light disc to get it done and eventually a cultivar
A medium disc harrow
💕💕💕💕💔🙏
Какой то херни наворотили🤦 после него ещё в два следа выравнивать надо
Yes this was a trial run so we just left it. But If we wanted to make a smooth field then we’d run over it with a small disk to make it much finer
What a mess 😢
A total mess
Yessir! To the untrained eye yes.
@@joshuapenner no sir..to a well trained eye.
Ok whatever you say man!
@@charliedoherty5965 Where's your farm Charlie'
I farm in donegal in ireland..fairly far north
Pointless mess...
Nope. That land got plowed over to use as grain land.
Seems like it’s just making a mess!
Yea it’s a mess in the beginning. But if when we’d go over it with a smaller lighter disk it’d chop it up fine and we’d get a smooth field out of it
@@joshuapenner gotta hook up a smaller disk to the plow and you could probably pull it with that tractor. Saves a bunch on fuel
