  • Echinopsis is a genus of cacti that's widely found in the garden industry and among collectors for its beautiful flowers and spectacular growing style. It comprises of 128 different species which is widely found in parts of South America. Comparatively speaking it's one of the easier genus to grow and adapt to humid tropical conditions. For most gardeners from tropical parts of the world, growing a cactus for long-term is a challenging ordeal. So in this video I am sharing some of my cultivation practices that have proven effective. Hope the video was entertaining and informative. Happy Gardening...

      They need a strong winter to initiate a blooming period and also a dry period during the winter to stress it out. Also if the plant is allowed to produce many pubs and vegetatively reproduce, blooming will be less.

    Have you managed to make your cactus bloom? Where do you live? Does it have the same weather condition with Malaysia?

    • @NandanamExotics
      @NandanamExotics  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi.. Yes I am from southern India and our climate is extremely similar to that of Malaysia. And yes my plant bloomed a year ago. But if you allow them to proliferate and clump up, then they might not bloom for you with out a strong winter. But if you keep removing offshoots and pubs, then the cactus blooms every spring. So keep a single growing head and see if your plant blooms. And finally don't forget to give a 2-3 months long dry dormancy by withholding watering during the winter months.

    When does it bloom? How can I give my cacti proper care to bloom?

    • @NandanamExotics
      @NandanamExotics  Před 3 lety +2

      It blooms in the spring season after winter dormancy... So stop watering the plant for winter months and as spring season approach, slowly restart watering. That should induce blooms

    Hi. Mine is no growth for 1yr. Still looking the same. What to do?

    • @NandanamExotics
      @NandanamExotics  Před 2 lety +1

      You can try checking the root system... Or else it's might not be getting enough light.. With out seeing the plant it's hard to say the actual reason why it's not growing.
