- Cuts Like A Knife was the third album released by Bryan in 1983.
Song was written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.
Video directed by Steve Barron, featuring Raquel Pena.
Lyrics:
Drivin' home this evening
I coulda sworn we had it all worked out
You had this boy believin'
Way beyond the shadow of a doubt
Then I heard it on the street
I heard you mighta found somebody new
Well who is he baby - who is he
And tell me what he means to you
I took it all for granted
But how was I to know
That you’d be letting go
Now it cuts like a knife
But it feels so right
It cuts like a knife
But it feels so right
There's times I've bin mistaken
There's times I thought I'd bin misunderstood
So wait a minute darlin'
Can't you see we did the best we could
This wouldn't be the first time
Things have gone astray
Now you've thrown it all away
And it cuts like a knife
But it feels so right
It cuts like a knife
But it feels so right

Cool random fact: this song was released May 27, 1983. The day before I was born.
Cool random fact:I was 12 years old when this song was released.👍
I was 22... Happy Birthday!
Nothing cool about this “fact”
No one cuts a peeled apple like Bryan Adams.
I remember jamming to this in the eighties thinking life was forever and now in my 50’s I wish I could tell all the young people “GO FOR IT IN LIFE CAUSE IT FLIES BY.” To much to be thankful for no matter how screwed up the world is in 2024. Live life and enjoy
Oh YES...
This TUNE and BRYAN ADAMS' Previous 'RECKLESS' Album ARE Legendary MASTERPIECES that REALLY REMIND US of the Importance of Relationships.
Thank You BRYAN And BAND!
Right on !!!!! Peace ✌
they (young people) won't understand until the start to get old
they will never understand , the music is not the same .
If I would have only known I was being cut but feels right! Na na na naaaaa maaaa oh cuts like a knife. I would love to thank my neighbor for the hook up! Fuss you
Man, I want my MTV back!!!
When MTV actually played videos 😂❤
@@heatherkandrick1191 yes! 11 videos an hour!
I was 13 Junior High EC Ca when this song came out, 80s are Forever Always Be The Greatest Decade!!!!.. 80s Rules, 80s were and always Be Unique In So Many Ways.
AMEN!! 😎
❤
El Cajon?
It really is a shame this type of music is no more. Here you have this young guy and he came out of no where in 1981 and he wrote guitar riffs and had no gimmick except he kicked ass. I have to relive my youth now drinking my morning coffee and watching CZcams
What do ya mean by no more?
No shit man. Just grabbed that guitar and fuckin rocked. Canadian but that's ok lol.
@@MIKECNW you know what I mean. Music today esp pop music is not memorable at all
Back when you wrote a good song, generation X is the best, hands down.
Underrated isn’t such a bad thing.
Vietnam vet,badass song....
The actress, just had that awesome 80's look. The 80's ruled.
Raquel Pena her name
I listened to Bryan when i was sad.
News flash: this track is Adams' best.
Many people throw around the word "underrated," but Bryan Adams truly is in that category. His songs are epic.
You know what this song makes me think? Bryan Adams was my childhood!!! I was born in 1998 and my dad and I loved listening to him on a music player he bought and watching his music videos on TV from the years 2000-2004. And he still hasn't faded away from my life. In a way, this guy has saved my life and made me feel happy despite whenever I felt sad or alone in my life. I feel like a kid again whenever I listen to his music. I’m 24 and I still listen to his music even now.
Great 🎼 Singer & Songwriter_.
Bryan Adams is definitely many things but underrated. You have no idea how popular he is with 90s kids.
1000% this
I agree. But I think its only because he was surrounded by pure greatness in the 80s
When i heard this blaring in my sleep, i knew my Mom was cleaning the kitchen. Specifically, scrubbing the floors, and I'd wake up to help. Sure in the hell couldn't sleep. She died of a heart attack out of NOWHERE at 44 on 11.24.15. Appreciate your Mother while you can. I'd give anything for just 1 more hug😞😥
Geezus at 44? Omg sorry to hear that man. Stay strong.
I hear ya bro..people have no idea when there moms gone i know the pain its bad. Hugs from bobby i miss my mom everyday..
I’m so sorry man I hope your alright
You are right. I think as humans we naturally take people for granted including family and friends. Thank you for the reminder! I hope you smile when you think of the good memories of your Mom. On a different note, I'm looking forward to seeing Bryan Adams in the Kaaboo Concert in Del Mar, CA tomorrow!
Wow Man! That is so heartbreaking!!! Hang in the Bro, cause if your saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us we will see our love ones again. Amen
"Took it all for granted but how was I to know that you'de be letting go"
Me and my wonderful husband Paul we have some great car trip with this song 🎵🎵

The 80 were the best time to be a teenager!
*Don't forget to say this: Jim Vallance is underrated!*
a beautiful girl, a knife, an empty pool and a hungry band stroking chords, it feels so right.
ZEST COAST: WHO IS THIS GUY?????????? HE F'N ROCKS!!
Life hack- if you loose your pizza cutter you can use a Brian Adams CD - cuts like a knife
I'll take the knife over a broken heart.
Can only listen to this stuff LOUD!!! Sorry kids, you missed the 80's.
The 80s were great!! Grew up in the 80s a teen in the early 90s❤

With all adoring love and admirartion of L.A.Garner I was wrong, just sad that I couldn't get thru to you, i made a mistake and will always wish you could have forgiven me and let me make it right. Alcohol can destroy a relationship.

I was six years old when this came out
Proof that Keith Scott is one UNDERRATED guitarist!
Absolutely stunning vibrato and great note choices.. Also somehow makes the chorus pedal sound great with the overdriven tone.. Everyone used that pedal in the 80s and it sounds horrible with an overdrive with most players, but he has such a smooth pick attack and probably a ear for good time. I love Allan Holdsworth but i still love me some Keith Scott. I hate that they faded this, would have loved to hear the original, possibly extended take that they never released.
Is he the one with guitar solo? Absolutely love that solo
@@easyduzit9200 Yep, whenever you hear a guitar solo in any of Bryan's 80s and 90s stuff, that's Keith. Those two guys were a match made in "Heaven", you might say.
Brian's ok too for a singer that plays
@@matthewjames121 No doubt about that! Great rhythm guitarist.
They ran out of music! We gott go back to the 80s just to listen to real musicians. Brian Adam's freaking rocks.long live the 80s,I sure miss life before cell phones and all the chaos. I can't help but go back to the good stuff. peace
Wow , beautiful memories of taking Miss M to see him support the police in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 in 1984 .. Summer love and the feeling of youth .. PK
I will never give you another opportunity to ever hurt me again
The lyrics of Bryan Adams guided and defined my life philosophy as a young teen, keeping me company through school, and then beyond -- work, family, love and loss. Now I'm divorced and wipe tables at the mall food court.
+kewkabe Keep on fighting the good fight, my man.I heard it said that losing a job is sometime's fate's way of telling you that you need to be somewhere else. Probably the same is true of love as well.....Who knows what you and I will do with our tomorrows....
"There are things of which I may not speak. There are things that make the strong heart weak."
Here's to you and I finding better places.
+kewkabe teh way you wrote that is hilarious! but not really..true..he leads people astray a bit..i think he is possessed by demons of lust..
+kewkabe Hey, lol! just keep goin! Life throws us some hard hits but it's gonna be allright. Look on the bright side, you got a job and that's good. Nothing wrong with honest money. That's very respectable. Somebody else will come along and see that and maybe you will hook up again. idk, if it's what you want. Hold your head up!!
Your life sucks now!
I was 16 when this came out. The early 80's was truly a fun time. Staying up late to watch new videos on MTV, music was gold.
I was right around 17! This was his first hit. And MTV was so new.
I was 11 and now I'm much older ugh. I'm tired now after writing this. Time for bed
@@johnnytheirishman3387 This is from his 1983 album Cuts Like a Knife.
First time i ever saw MTV, I sat there literally for 8hrs and never moved. I miss those days of music videos on a " music videos channel"

Maybe the best Bryan Adams album.
I BLASTED THIS SONG IN MEMORY OF MY BROTHER AT HIS MILITARY FUNERAL HE DIED IN GERMANY I LOVE THIS SONG AND I LOVE HIM SO VERY MUCH HE DIED FOR DEFENDING SOMEONE UNDER HIS COMMAND
Thanks dad for introducing this to me..
My dad introduced me to Bryan Adams, too.
That guitar solo still kills almost 40 yrs later
Keith Scott is still Bryan's guitarist today. Over 40 years now.
Amen brother!
Some of the best songs ever in my opinion.. I absolutely love his music and it’s been such a long time since I have just sat and Listened to his music.. I love it
@@SpikeMichaels yes it does..
Great solo!
When music was good
We JUST got cable when this song came!!
Forget the song, that girl is smokin!!!
There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them
Yes sir agreed.
You literally copy and paste this exact same comment on virtually every well known 80s/90s song on CZcams! You're obviously bored 😝🙄
@@AchtungBaby77 The likes must make him feel good. 🙂
Bryan voice it's self giving you that kind of bitter feelings reminds me of my teenage years 🥺
Fucking A. Me too

I met Raquel Pena this past summer and she's even more beautiful now than she is in this video.
This video shows the knife scenes. MTV cut those sequins out really quickly when parents started to complain. I am so happy to see the real video.
Really? Must've been one of the lucky ones who saw the "knife" version on MTV in late '83 before they edited it out--didn't know that happened! Damn, MTV sure was pretty conservative back then.
I just realized it’s filmed in a swimming pool 40 yrs later 😂
Bryan Adams net worth 105 million
I lost my pizza cutter so I used a Bryan Adam's CD
It cuts like a knife!
probably 19 - 20 what a voice
this is HOW you play guitar... one of the all time greats.
go listen to the guitar rip on Collective Soul "Tremble for My Beloved"....awesome
I'm 51 and the 80's had the best music and this is one of them I still play it loud
Me too 51 remember first time hearing this I loved it now all these years later I love it even more.
Me too, and I'm 56!
Im 47...i love this song
Me too im 54,los the 80s
I'm 59 and close to 60 The 80's were a special time. I play it loud also. Kudos to you. Peace and Cheers.
Cuts like a knife...know the feeling...
Seen Bryan Adams in Nashville Tn, he put on a free concert,in 1997,took my then 4and half yr ols son,Bryan Adams was pulling people from the audience to sing play instruments etc... good time!!!
Oh ya,oh ya, yes!yes!yes!yes!
Cute the juicy hole like a knife
There I was in NYC, sitting outside on my stoop with my boom box blasted listening to this song and the entire album on casette. Those were the days. Occasionally someone would open their window and shout to turn the damn music down or they would crack my head. I just cranked up the volume and was ready to make a run for it if that person came downstairs. Those were the days where people would hand out on the street and blast music. Now everyone is in their own world with headphones. Come on and crank up the music and share it with the neighborhood.
Such a great comment my friend. We just didnt realize back then just how special the times were, did we? These poor kids today, I've gotta feel a little sorry for them. Its not their fault they dont have the great music we did. Thank God I was born in '69 and lived out my teen years right thru the 80s!! :)
Lucky you! Haha (I know that this comment is from six years ago but I can't help replying to it). I was born in 2003. I wasn't aware of pop music or anything like that because I was too busy listening to classical music and I was a piano player and practiced a lot. Bryan was the first rock musician I ever listened to, BTW. Sometimes I try to listen to modern pop music and wonder why in the world people my age like it, let alone be allowed to listen to it. Thankfully I lived under a rock during my childhood because otherwise I would never have been able to appreciate good music. Oh, and hello fellow BAddie :)
Born in 1970.... We did take it for granted, didn't we?
Everybody thinks their era was the best now I agree the 80s were awesome I was born in 72 but the kids had a grown up now when they look back when they are 40-50 years old they will look back at this time of their lives and they would have had just as much fun as we did they love their music it's like we do they will have cherished memories as well and they will think their memories and their era was the best
I'm truly jealous of you. Great times they must have been!
1969 here also, definitely had the best music and MTV music videos
The cut hurt more than I would have ever imagined
Known fact Bryan Adams was the only Canadian to perform at Live Aid back in 1985
This song is timeless 👍
We ordered pizza the other night but couldn't find our pizza cutter. My wife got out Bryan Adams CD she's had since high school and we used that.
'Cause, you know, it cuts like a knife.
1983...cruising in my 1973 Challenger with my gf. Things didn't go so well. We got in a big fight and broke up for good. Cuts like a knife was playing on the radio when we broke up. You can't make this stuff up. It was for the best, although it didn't seem so at the time.
How come he is not in the Rock n Roll hall of fame?
Four decades ago, Bryan Adams cut through the music world, its genres, and generations like a knife. He truly is a rock legend!
Wife loves this one.
Great classic song. Love that Rickenbacker guitar in the video. 👍
Hey Bryan Adams. The world owes you a debt of music grattitude
80's music. I love Bryan Adams. We had the best music.
80's music is the BEST DECADE OF MUSIC EVER!!!!!!
ALL THINGS WILL COME FULL CIRCLE
Driven home this evening Could've sworn we had it all worked out. Those words are so Poetic and all of us have been there one time or another.. Lucky for me I've got my soul mate for life and been together 25 yrs and still going. Been cut so many times before but now no more.
Why don't they make music like this any more? I'm 24 but I do feel like I belong to that time and that music - it sounds incredibly innovative even for today's standards, so fresh, you could listen to it on repeat all day and never grow tired of it... Wow
He’s about 24 in this too
o we parted hard to the music.
Nothing good can be produced from the cesspool that is modern western culture. We were truly blessed in the 80's.
Riccardo, it is all corporate now. record companies don't like full bands any more. you will notice one person out front backed by studio musicians for maybe 2 albums, that's it. they use people. you can still find this music current today but dig deep on CZcams.
sorry to say, you missed the 80s, before cell phones, social media. I'm 66 do the math. awesome time on planet earth
A 80's baby and always will be that decade !!!OMG where do I start with all the great music!!!THE GREATEST DECADE OF MUSIC EVER!!!!

Oh, yes!
Bryan Adams should be in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
I was going thru a divorce when this came out. Love this song
Brian Adams, Pat Benatar, Def Leppard, John Fogerty, George Thorogood, The Who Tom Petty, ZZ Top, The Eagles, Red Rider, The Stones, Cheap Trick and so so many more great bands that my wife and I grew up on throughout MTV's great eighties decade. Where are the great, guitar driven, bands today writing sentiments, humor, commentary, etc. in audible lyrics? Boy have times changed. We had it damn good, I believe.
lindyfralin hwound wow. Only 7 likes?? That was so true. Pink Floyd, Heart, Styx, Boston and Foriegner too......... Great comment 😎
lindyfralin hwound AMEN😄
lindyfralin hwound i love Supertramp
Look at everything that's come and gone.
To quote Bob Segar "today's music don't got the same soul" i would say todays music don't have any soul at all, just computerized autotuned rehashed sound where i can't tell 1 band from another.
He's my hubby the true love of my life your favorite baby cousins with attitudes from the heavens
Classic 80’s….and I miss it 😢
Damn I love this song, but it certainly makes me feel my age.
Im only 16 and i believe life was perfect back then. I grow up with dubshit and auto-tuned stuff. This music is just too awesome!
