Actually it just shows how strong gobta is. Rimuru always makes fun of him, but Gobta is actually quite the prodigy in Goblin terms. He traveled to dwargon on his own even before his evolution. Don't diss my boy gobta, he's really strong

The scale fails at capturing power from techniques and intelligence since it was intended for unintelligent rampaging monsters

Yup, he lacks confidence and canât picture himself winning. With that state of mind he will see openings in his opponents as them baiting him in. If heâd continued he would eventually falter and die unless his opponent began to tire out. Even he can picture a win if his opponent can no longer threaten him.

I think gobta has been beaten down a bit too much by his sensei when it comes to sword work. He doesnt seem to realize that there are more tiers than "Totally sucks" and "im the master swordsman here now!"

Its one thing to see the satisfaction of gobta surprising the so called strongest of the fingers but it still shocks me how gobta keeps underestimating his own strength
The strongest from Clayman army are Adalman and one who will appear in the next episode.
Consider that gobuta is surrounded by absolute power houses like benimaru, rimuru, and veldora and you kinda see as to why he thinks of himself as weak
It's like being a lower end player on one of the best teams, no self esteem
FUN FACT: Gobta is the only one allowed by Rimuru in Tempest to carry a manufactured gun.
And by "gun", I mean a handheld railgun/sword that shoots two high-level magic spells instantly.

Really like how Gobta has been developing. He's a true representation of what the "bottom of the power chain" is like, in terms of what you might expect out of a serious, generally strong member of Tempest's Military. I mean, he's strong enough to not instantly die in front of one of the strongest members of Clayman's army, which says a lot about the power of even mid tier leaders like the Beastketeers and Gabiru.

Can I just say that no, repeat, NO anime has better Foley than this one. The effects work is both perfectly chosen and extremely well designed. The audio engineers for this show deserve a medal.

The fact that such a goofy looking character that would normally be a comic relief gag is so strong is part of what makes this series fun. It does have some tropes and cliches but little twists to them that makes this show very enjoyable.
